minimized and skip taskbar rules shouldn't show up when presenting windows.

I would suggest how it works in the GNOME extension Dash-to-Dock: the
overflowing icons will be hidden, but by placing the pointer at the left/right
edges the content will scroll. (I'm okay with mouse wheel too).

I confirm this regression happens on 18.12

Another little regression is that if no file is selected in the quick open, a
new untitled file is selected while it would previously be equivalent to
"switch to the last used file"

Bluetooth send file window

SUMMARY
I have been sending files via Bluetooth from Dolphin recently and think the UI
of the dialog that pops up after clicking Share > Send via Bluetooth... could
be improved.

1. The window has "Dolphin" as a title. Wouldn't "Bluetooth Send File Wizard"
make more sense as that's the window name when sending files using the
Bluetooth system tray?

2. The task bar icon of the window is the Dolphin icon. It should instead be
the Bluetooth icon to make it easier to identify.

3. What is that big head line "Send via Bluetooth... - Upload..."? I would just
drop that one if the window title is changed as proposed.

4. The list of devices does not look like you could click them. I was a little
confused the first time I used this dialog. How about designing them as
obviously selectable?

5. Why does the "Run" button say "Run" instead of "Send"?

Greyed out zoom slider

SUMMARY
The zoom slider in the Bluetooth Send File Wizard is greyed out, suggesting
that you can not move it. In my opinion it should be white like the other
buttons etc. that are clickable.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click "Send File" in the Bluetooth system tray
2. The Bluetooth Send File Wizard opens

OBSERVED RESULT
The zoom slider is greyed out, while the zoom button next to it is white.
See attachment.

EXPECTED RESULT
The zoom slider is also white, showing that it is usable.

[kio-extras] [Bug 403444] Dolphin can't copy/move files with name longer than 125 characters from local machine onto samba share

2019-01-20 Thread Thiago Sueto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403444

I forgot to mention two things, sorry:

The easiest way I found to reproduce this and count characters was naming a
file as
123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456
which should help reproduce. For easy counting, separate it into bundles of 10
characters per line on Kwrite/Kate. Remove last character, and transference
works fine.

The other thing is that it is possible to create a file with 126 characters or
more on the samba share itself, and transference is fine from samba share onto
the local machine.

Summary: Dolphin can't copy/move files with name longer than
125 characters from local machine onto samba share
   Product: kio-extras
   Version: 18.12.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Samba
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: herzensch...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Transferring a file with name containing 126 characters or more from local
machine onto remote samba share through Dolphin results in dialog error Could
not write to
[filenamewith126+charactershere][filenamewith126+charactershere].part

If transferring file with name containing 125 characters or less, it will work.
The type of character used (letter, number, symbol, space) does not affect
this.

For some reason, the dialog message containing the error repeats the name
twice, but that's likely another bug, please tell if I should make another bug
report for that. Will gladly provide more information.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy or cut any file containing 126 characters or more in its name.
2. Paste on samba share folder which you have due access to and no permission
problems whatsoever.

OBSERVED RESULT
Error dialog containing "Could not write to filenamefilename.part", no quotes.

EXPECTED RESULT
Successful file transference.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon Git Unstable (completely updated as of the
submission of this bug)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Qt Version: 5.11.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Always reproducible. Tested on three different samba shares. File transference
occurs successfully on SSH/SFTP. Reproducible regardless of using tabs, split,
separate windows or from desktop onto share.

Nobody is telling otherwise. Still, most distros want a BZ on their systems
before upgrading packages, and they have their own QA policies. Often, it means
to have a separate "testing/unstable" repositories where new versions are
places in order for users to test.

>

Dunno. You have to ask to the past maintainer. Yet, there were *hundreds* of
bugs opened against older Kaffeine versions due to Xine by the time I started
working on it. So, I suspect that the reason is that it was causing too many
troubles, but I may be wrong.

> why not consider rewriting a version based on MUMUDBV ? at least that

The best maintained MPEG-TS and audio/video decoding project nowadays are
libVlc and GStreamer. I would myself stick with one of them.

I don't know myself how MuMuDVB decode video standards.

>

The beauty of Linux is that anyone can do that, or to write a completely new
GUI for MuMuDvb, including you.

I don't foresee any work from my side on that, as a change like this is complex
and I simply don't have enough time.

I don't know what is different on Mint. Perhaps they don't build libdvbv5
properly, or perhaps they named it differently.

Here, I have Kaffeine running properly with DVB support on both Fedora 29 and
Ubuntu 18.04 (on both, built from the git tree).

Anyway, as I said, I can't really help with Mint. It is up to the distros to do

[krita] [Bug 403442] New: krita closes out of nowhere

Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

Krita closes out of nowhere when I'm painting or drawing.
I was editing a few documents and it suddenly crashed and closed itself, it has
happened about 20 times today and I have uploaded Krita to the last version.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Krita.
2. Open a document.
3. Edit a few minutes the file.

OBSERVED RESULT

It just closes, doesn't even say "Krita is not responding" or something like
that, it just closes and I have to open the program once again.

EXPECTED RESULT

I expect it to keep working, yesterday I was working on 2 files at the same
time and it didn't close itself not even 1 time. But today I woke up, started
the program, worked on the things I didn't finish yesterday (not even 2 files
opened at the same time) and I found myself in this situation where Krita is
unstable.

Hi,

Thanks for all your efforts making Kdenlive such a great tool!

I have another use case for this issue...

Unless I'm missing some aspect of the Library feature, it's not possible to use
it to copy an editable sequence of clips, effects, & transitions to a new
project. I can use it to copy a sequence and load it into another project as
single unit - but not edit it in the new project.

I had created three different projects destined to be connected together live
with some other tools, but the needs changed such that I wanted to put them all
together in one project and re-edit them.

As it stands I'll probably end up re-editing them in the original projects and
then using the Library, but this is a rather awkward workflow.

At a deeper UX level, not being able to just copy a chunk of timeline, copy it,
then paste into the project where I want it is surprising and annoying.

I imagine that this would be pretty complicated to implement (ensuring all
relevant data is included, and ids are adjusted to avoid clashes, etc.), whilst
the Library sort-of covers this situation, so understand that it won't be a
high priority - but just wanted to note that there would be value in
implementing it.

[latte-dock] [Bug 403419] [Feature request] Manually choose the dark/light color

(In reply to trmdi from comment #0)
> Is there any way to make them have the same color? For the example wallpaper
> above, I think the dock's background should be white like the panel.
>

yes this is possible. The current approach computes the brightness for each
background edge separately. So the top edge and the bottom edge can have
different brightness values based on the background image. It is very easy to
make them choose the same brightness independent of edge. One approach could be
the edge with the most brightness demands wins and after that all the edges
will use the same brightness values

> - Add an option to manually select the color, the user could choose between
> dark/light manually. I like this idea more, because with some wallpapers
> like this, Latte looks nice in both dark/light cases.

In order to understand the approach I must first give some hints what Latte is
doing. Because Latte new coloring is not complete in a way to provide
everything a plasma theme provides and it tries to do the less damage from
viewpoint as possible. What is going on is the following:

1. Latte determines the current plasma theme if it is light or dark. Let;s say
for example LIGHT
2. After [1] Latte provides a reversed color palette for the reversed case so
a DARK color palette
3. In that step now Latte provides LIGHT and DARK palettes and at any case
Latte decides which of the two the applets must use
4. BUT for the DARK palette only the color palette is available and nothing
related to svg files etc.
5. BASED on the above when LIGHT is chosen Latte is not doing any painting
because the plasma theme is already LIGHT BUT for DARK Latte can overlay the
applets in order to provide them with a monochromatic view that takes into
account only transparency levels and not at all the colors the applets use.

CONCERNS

1. If we provide a DARK/LIGHT mode the user will expect for both everything to
look and behave nice but this is not the case because plasma applets and theme
infrastructure are not prepared for this
2. Because coloring could break applet's appearance totally I have added an
option at per applet level in order for the user to be able to disable
coloring. If the user has enabled "Monochrome..." then in EditMode at the
applet tooltip there is now a Coloring toggle button

So I would love to be able to provide a LIGHT/DARK option but because that
would create expectations to the users that can not be met I do not think we
must add it, so an alternative way should be found to solve this

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402660

--- Comment #16 from Mihai Sorin Dobrescu ---
Backend functionality is important for the reason of the current behaviour, but
I think the mounting unavailability is the main issue for the user. Thinking of
not IT related persons, they won't even care and understand the technical
background. So it is pretty much the same bug from the user experience point of
view. A reliable technical solution is a must.
Discussing the configuration, as Sabayon user I am not comfortable with the
workaround of editing configuration files because my distro updates them from
time to time and becomes a pain to run a diff and conceal that.

[KScreen] [Bug 403438] New: External monitor connected through displayport <-> HDMI is not detected in Plasma Wayland

2019-01-20 Thread Dan G
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403438

Bug ID: 403438
Summary: External monitor connected through displayport <->
HDMI is not detected in Plasma Wayland
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: se...@kde.org
  Reporter: dgll...@fastmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

My laptop (unfortunately) only has USB-3/displayport ports and my external
monitor doesn't have displayport. With Plasma on X, I can connect the monitor
with an HDMI <-> USB3 dongle and the monitor works fine. When I switch to the
Wayland session in Plasma and connect my monitor the same way, the external
monitor is not detected. My laptop is a Dell XPS 9575 if that is helpful at
all.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into Plasma X session
2. Connect external monitor using HDMI<->USB3 dongle so that the monitor is
connected to HDMI and the computer is connected to displayport
3. Popup appears with options to extend, mirror, etc. and monitor is visible in
System Settings -> Displays
4. Log out and log in to Plasma Wayland session
5. Connect external monitor using dongle (the same monitor and cables as
before)

OBSERVED RESULT
No external monitor popup is shown and monitor does not appear in System
Settings -> Displays

EXPECTED RESULT
Monitor shows up in System Settings -> Displays and can be used as part of the
display

the work there has the possibility of potentially benefiting a lot more users
as Syaid correctly observed.

korganizer at version 5.8.3 still struggles with CALDav resources. Is this
software actually still being developed, or is it dead?

I can confirm Kapyia's behaviour (visible() returns always False) with the
4.1.7 appimage and the Jan 18 nightly build (git 4f95062). I get Kuntal
Majumder's assertion error with a current docker build (git
494f604d7309ec7600512b44600601d16c7ec849). (I'm on Debian Stable).

[ksecretsservice] [Bug 313216] Release a working version of KSecretService

2019-01-20 Thread Syiad

Why not use 'KeePass' instead and have it integrated into the KDE ecosystem?

With people using different platforms (smartphone, tablet, Windows, Linux) on
different devices concurrently, it would be smarter to have a credentials
storage that works across devices and platforms. A platform-specific solution,
even if it works with Gnome _and_ KDE, but only on Linux, is a bit outdated.
KeePass is available for all relevant platforms and has thus become a de-facto
standard. It also offers the benefit of storing the (endcrypted) credentials
database in a cloud storage, such that the same data is available across all
devices.

Yeah, feels like we're fighting the system with that idea. Since moving to
instant-apply is not likely to happen any time soon, I think implementing Bug
398303 might be our best bet. I actually had this exact use case in mind when I
opened that feature request.
