[kate] [Bug 419719] Crash when repeating pgrep operation back-to-back
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419719 Kåre Särs changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #5 from Kåre Särs --- I was just about to ask for a crash-dump, but I can actually reproduce... My crash happens in SearchDiskFiles.cpp while calling QUrl::fromUserInput() in searchSingleLineRegExp() For some reason fileName is a Null QString, but the QFile taking that as parameter is open I'll investigate more... My first guess is that the file list (m_files) is cleared while we are iterating over it -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 419866] New: Desktop configure dialog does not close after clicking "OK" when changing containment plugin type.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419866 Bug ID: 419866 Summary: Desktop configure dialog does not close after clicking "OK" when changing containment plugin type. Product: plasmashell Version: 5.18.4 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Desktop Containment Assignee: notm...@gmail.com Reporter: yyc1...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY It's unclear if this is a plasma-desktop bug, or a plasma-workspace bug, or a Qt bug... See the debug note below. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Right click on desktop and bring up the desktop configure dialog from the right click menu. 2. Change the desktop type. The warning for applying immediately should appear. 3. Click "OK". OBSERVED RESULT The configure should apply and the dialog is opened again. EXPECTED RESULT The configure should apply and the dialog should close. DEBUGGING As far as I can tell, the sequence of event when clocking on the OK button is that. [`accptAction.trigger()`](https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/blob/3e8c7dada73ed838a93b0b0ffcd5c679627ffa54/desktoppackage/contents/configuration/AppletConfiguration.qml#L396) calls a chain of functions which calls [`root.saveConfig()`](https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/blob/3e8c7dada73ed838a93b0b0ffcd5c679627ffa54/desktoppackage/contents/configuration/ConfigurationContainmentAppearance.qml#L38) When [changing the containment type](https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/blob/3e8c7dada73ed838a93b0b0ffcd5c679627ffa54/desktoppackage/contents/configuration/ConfigurationContainmentAppearance.qml#L49) which through a chain of events recreated a new `ContainmentConfigView` (didn't save backtrace, sorry) and then closed the old one. After `root.saveConfig()` returns, the call to [`configDialog.close()`](https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/blob/3e8c7dada73ed838a93b0b0ffcd5c679627ffa54/desktoppackage/contents/configuration/AppletConfiguration.qml#L397) appears to be calling the destroyed `ContainmentConfigView` and the new one is left open. However, since the `ContainmentConfigView` constructor appears to be [setting the `configDialog`](https://github.com/KDE/plasma-workspace/blob/5545214d4420eccc8013331697259974affc7283/shell/containmentconfigview.cpp#L64) I'm not sure why it doesn't get picked up by the `configDialog.close()`. Is that supposed to be asynchronous or not show up until the next call for some reason? Or is it a qml compiler bug? P.S. somehow I never got a breakpoint firing on the destructor of `ContainmentConfigView` so they apears to be leaked? [kwin] [Bug 419861] New: [Wayland] Window may stay permanently drawn if interacted with right after closing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419861 Bug ID: 419861 Summary: [Wayland] Window may stay permanently drawn if interacted with right after closing Product: kwin Version: 5.18.4 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: effects-various Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: magib...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 127396 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=127396=edit Screenshot showing the issue SUMMARY In X11 with compositing enabled, and in Wayland, the 'Scale' desktop effect results in a transition from the moment a window closes. There seem to be circumstances where the application can still receive events after the 'Scale' animation has started. This may cause the window to stay permanently drawn over other windows or over the desktop. Configuring the 'Scale' effect so that it lasts longer does not seem to make the issue easier to reproduce. I have experienced this with the mpv media player. I could not reproduce the issue in an X11 sesssion. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a file with the mpv media player in a Wayland session. 2. Seek near the end of the media. 3. Click again on the timeline right after the media finished. OBSERVED RESULT If you click at the right time, the window is redrawn during the 'Scale' animation and stays there permanently. The whole window can be seen, including the server side decorations. When switching desktops, the drawing stays in the desktop it originally belonged to. EXPECTED RESULT Whether the application may receive or react to events during the 'Scale' animation or not (if that's even possible; maybe the application is already dead and it's only kwin causing the issue), a still, translucent drawing of a closed should not stay permanently on the desktop. [kwin] [Bug 419860] New: Buffer overrun when iterating over CTRC's outputs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419860 Bug ID: 419860 Summary: Buffer overrun when iterating over CTRC's outputs Product: kwin Version: 5.16.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: platform-x11-standalone Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: b7.10110...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- In KWin 5.16.5 in XRandRScreens::update() function CrtcInfo is created, from which outputs() are obtained. Then a loop iterates over this array, indexing outputs[i] with i from 0 to resources->num_outputs. But this upper limit is not number of outputs for the given CRTC. It's the number of outputs in all the screen resources. CrtcInfo instead has its own associated xcb_randr_get_crtc_info_reply_t::num_outputs, which should be used as the upper limit. The same mistake remains in KWin 5.18 in X11StandalonePlatform::doUpdateOutputs() function. The result is that current code reads past outputs, from possible_outputs, and then the reads go beyond the server reply if there are more total outputs than CRTC's num_outputs + num_possible_outputs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419659 Jonathan Chun changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |NOT A BUG Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED --- Comment #9 from Jonathan Chun --- Update. After going crazy and testing a bunch of stuff out, I wasn't able to figure out what the problem was because everything looked OK. Then... it magically fixed itself after I started playing around with Python's libunity bindings/dbus/building my own electron app to see if I can reproduce it, I noticed the badge counters were working perfectly! Extremely confused, I went back and looked through to see where I went wrong(right?). Turns out, you need to: sudo apt-get install libunity-dev on Kubuntu/KDE Neon. I had previously thought that I might have been missing libunity on my system, so I did apt search libunity This gave me a TON of results, a lot of which I already had installed such as libunity-protocol-private0, libunity-core-6.0-9, libunity9, so I mistakenly assumed I was OK on that front. Who would have guessed that libunity-dev is required as well... In any case, I've marked this resolved. There are still other issues with the unity launcher API only working with specifically named files and flatpak/snapstore/etc changing it and breaking compatibility, but thanks to all the effort I put into troubleshooting this, I think I have an idea of how to resolve that as well. Thank you for your patience Michail! - One thing to consider. I don't know what the standard is for apt dependencies, but if a major feature like unity launcher API doesn't work without the libunity-dev package, perhaps it should either 1. be documented in FAQ, or 2. added to the package requirements? I looked a bit more at this. So qTox bug is indeed seems to be related to this. And it might be easier to reproduce, since it happens all the time, not just on reboot. To reproduce, you can do the following: 1) Start Wayland session with one screen turned off. 2) Start qTox. 3) Hover mouse over e.g. call button, so that popup notification is displayed 4) qTox crashes instead of showing popup. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Tabs created from descriptions in kde_konsole_tabs_vpic are not created with VNC_Sorrento_00 profile. Instead, their profile appears to be empty or none. 2. Running above command creates 11 tabs, not 10 and the last tab does have VNC_Sorrento_00 profile, perhaps because that is marked as my default profile. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a file to describe tabs similar to one listed above to use with --tabs-from-file option of konsole application. 2. Run a command similar to the konsole command posted above. 3. Using konsole Settings menu, edit a tab specified in the tab description file and inspect name of profile for that tab. OBSERVED RESULT 1. EXPECTED RESULT 1. Only 10 tabs will be created and each will use the VNC_Sorrento_00 profile.
