Hi Tymond, thanks, I agree with your suggestion. It would solve the issue for
me.

(In reply to vanyossi from comment #2)

Thanks vanyossi. I think it would be a nice feature to have.

I've updated to konqueror 20.04.2, which includes mentioned fix AFAIK, and it

[kalarm] [Bug 417108] Command line operation fails

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417108

--- Comment #17 from dolge...@informatik.uni-erlangen.de ---
Hi David,

that's exactly why I tried "kalarm -v" (and "--version"), and that's why
I finally discovered the effect of totally missing commandline output.

However, then I forgot the kalarm GUI, which tells us: Version 2.14.2
(*KDE Apps 20.04.2*)
Sadly, this matches "Version Fixed In: 20.04.2", as I expected.

Nevertheless, good luck anyway!

[Discover] [Bug 423857] New: Discover when already running doesn't become frontmost when clicking on the update notifier

2020-07-03 Thread Michael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423857

Bug ID: 423857
Summary: Discover when already running doesn't become frontmost
when clicking on the update notifier
   Product: Discover
   Version: 5.19.2
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifier
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@callthecomputerdoctor.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When clicking on the update notifier in the system tray, Discover doesn't
become frontmost if Discover is already open on the desktop but hidden behind
other windows. This is confusing, as it appears that nothing happens.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. I see that the update notifier is present so I click on it. Discover
launches.
2. I do other work and the Discover window gets buried. I forget about it.
3. I click on the update notifier and nothing happens. Discover happens to be
buried under other windows but it doesn't become frontmost. So it seems
something is broken.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR

Discover should become frontmost if it's already running and I click on the
update notifier.

[Discover] [Bug 423723] Subjectively speaking, Discover takes too long to be useful after it starts up

2020-07-03 Thread Michael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423723

Okay, what do I mean by "useful"? I mean that Discover is in a waiting state
when it appears, always. How long that waiting state is, is variable.

I boot my laptop. 3 minutes after the update notifier appears in the system
tray, I click on the update notifier icon and Discover launches. A 27 seconds
wait ensues, where Discover says "Fetching updates...". Yet my computer had
just finished the fetching updates process a few minutes before. Why wait in
this instance?

Instead of clicking the "Update All" button at the top of Discover, I close the
app. I click the update notifier once again to measure the wait. Discover
launches. It takes 5 seconds of looking at the "Fetching updates..." text
before I can do something.

Every time I launch Discover regularly from the Kickoff menu on my SSD-backed
system, Discover takes 5 seconds to display "Loading" with the spinning arrow
before I could do anything.

On the other hand, I launch Muon and all the packages appeared instantly when
the GUI showed up.

My point is that the variable waiting aspect of Discover makes me not want to
reach for it, even though it is an excellently engineered piece of software in
every other respect.

This report is a follow-on to bug 391073.

When latte-dock is set to auto-hide, the feature described in bug 391073 is not
enabled. That is, the dock will still overlap the desktop icons when the dock
is revealed.

The fix is to have the desktop icons be arranged as if the dock were always
on-screen.

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 423854] New: Weather report's configuration UI is confusing

2020-07-03 Thread William Kendrick
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423854

Bug ID: 423854
Summary: Weather report's configuration UI is confusing
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Weather
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@sonic.net
  Target Milestone: ---

The "Weather Report" widget's configuration window, under the "Weather Station"
section, is confusing.

After entering a location to search for (e.g., "olympia"), the "Search" button
is not enabled. It turns out that weather (a) reporting source(s) need to be
selected, using the unlabeled "flag"-icon button.

Providing a label on the "flag" button, either directly, or at the least via a
tool-tip when hovering over the button, would be useful.

Additionally, providing some basic instructions up front (e.g., in place of the
list of locations that will appear, once a successful search has occurred)
would be helpful.

Finally, when selecting data sources from the menu that appears when the "flag"
button is clicked, the menu immediately disappears. I personally have no idea
which sources might include my location, so I just selected them all. As the
list shows checkboxes, it seemed reasonable to me that I could just click all
of them, and then dismiss the list. Instead, I have to click the flag, click a
checkbox, click the flag again, click another checkbox, and so on.

Thanks for your consideration!

[plasmashell] [Bug 423600] Desktop inherits DPI setting from login manager after first login

2020-07-03 Thread akb825
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423600

To provide a bit more info, the example numbers I used were for my laptop. I
also have a desktop with 4k monitors, but the specific DPI settings are a bit
different: I have the KDE set to use 120 DPI, but the default for XOrg (when
not setting the -dpi option for ServerArguments in the SDDM config) appears to
be 192. As a result, the Plasma desktop and panel items are actually *larger*
on the second login, as opposed to smaller on the laptop.

In both cases, the default XOrg DPI is different (96 for laptop, 192 for
desktop) and on the second login Plasma's DPI scale appears to match XOrg's
DPI. This is why I believe that Plasma is inheriting the XOrg DPI value on the
second login rather than respecting the KDE setting.

Just FYI for anybody that's interested, there is a workaround for this issue.

You can change the opacity of selection tools with disabled opacity fields by
using the default keyboard shortcuts for changing opacity. 'i' for more
transparent, 'o' for more opaque.

Your limited to 10% percent increments, but it's better than having to switch
tools.

[krita] [Bug 423853] New: Fill with opacity actions (both FG & BG), do not yield the specified opacity

2020-07-03 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423853

Bug ID: 423853
Summary: Fill with opacity actions (both FG & BG), do not yield
the specified opacity
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.3.0
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: elk...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The actions 'Fill with Foreground Color (Opacity)' and 'Fill with Background
Color (Opacity)' do not yield the specified opacity.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Select the the Quick Brush: Basic-1, make it's size fairly large so it will
be easy to sample. set it's opacity to 50% and draw a stroke on an empty
transparent layer.

2. Use the Eyedropper tool set to 'Sample Current Layer' and sample the stroke.
As expected it's alpha will be roughly 50% (49.8039%)

3. Make a selection on an empty part of the same layer. Make sure your opacity
is set to 50%, each tool remembers it's opacity independently. Invoke Fill with
Foreground Color (Opacity); it's default shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Backspace.

OBSERVED RESULT

Use the eyedropper to sample the fill. Note the alpha is 24.7059%

EXPECTED RESULT

The alpha should be roughly 50% (49.8039%)

The issue also effects these actions in eraser mode

1. On a transparent layer, make a selection in an empty area, and fill it with
a 100% opaque color.

2. Press the 'e' key to toggle on eraser mode, set tool opacity to 50%

3. Invoke one of the fill with opacity actions.

4. Use the Eyedropper tool set to 'Sample Current Layer' to sample the result
and you will get an alpha of 75.2941%. Expected result: a sampled alpha of
roughly 50%

> I'm not convinced that SDDM is involved at all, but your symptoms match a
> description of not using Qt scaling.

I believe that the SDDM settings are merely the trigger for the bug in Plasma.
The DPI settings for XOrg being mismatched from KDE cause the scaling for
Plasma to be incorrect on the second launch/login.

> If you set PLASMA_USE_QT_SCALING=1 in the environment when plasma starts up,
> does the problem disappear?

No, the problem persists. I can tell that some of the scaling behavior is
different because the panel height and context menu icons are doubled in size.
The panel height and icon size remain consistent between logging out and
logging back in, but the text is 1/2 the size after the second login.

Brush that was used in reproducing the bug

SUMMARY
I created two custom color smudge engine based brushes, and while they work
perfectly fine when there is no selection, as soon as I make any selection,
these brushes stop blending inside a selection. I tested it with standard
Blender_Basic brush, and it blends just fine inside selection, but mine just
don't work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Take any opaque layer to test blending on
2. Make any selection inside of said layer
3. Use attached brush

OBSERVED RESULT

Barely smudges, it takes around 10 strokes to visually register the blending
effect, and it's very subtle

EXPECTED RESULT

10 years ago it would be Windows, but nowadays I believe not so much. I think
it is better to be more familiar for FSF users (e.g. AOSP) and have more
unified user experience on Linux Qt+GTK desktop as Windows is no longer as

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 423848] New: Folder dialog bookmark/pinned-locations view should be resizeable

2020-07-03 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423848

Bug ID: 423848
Summary: Folder dialog bookmark/pinned-locations view should be
resizeable
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: 5.70.0
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Open/save dialogs
  Assignee: kio-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: j...@forestfield.org
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The folder dialog has an area on the left where one can pin/bookmark folders
one deals with frequently. This gives one-click access to those folders. This
region needs to be resizeable and the max resize width should be much greater.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any KDE program that uses the KDE folder dialog (such as Dolphin's
"Moveto /Copy to..." choices) and begin moving or copying something to a folder
so that you're prompted about which folder to work with.
2. Notice that the pinned or bookmarked folders on the left are in an area
which cannot be resized. Try dragging the area where one expects to find a
resizeable border.

OBSERVED RESULT
Instead one ends up moving the panel.

EXPECTED RESULT
A resizeable border line appears and allows one to resize the
bookmark/pinned-folder area to whatever width the user desires. This width is
stored (perhaps as a percentage of panel width) and drawn that way by default
on subsequent panel openings.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2
Kernel Version: 5.7.0-1-amd64
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The directory panel used to have the folder area as a resizeable area but it
could never be resized wide enough to accommodate long folder or volume names.
Hence I suggest that the folder area width be as wide as the user wants it to
be.

[digikam] [Bug 423847] New: Root Album Tree View could use the right click refresh option

2020-07-03 Thread Geoff King
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423847

Bug ID: 423847
Summary: Root Album Tree View could use the right click refresh
option
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.0.0
  Platform: macOS Disk Images
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Albums-TreeView
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: gski...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

It would be nice to have a right click option to refresh an album root folder.
I have a few root album collections (folders).
For example one is called Import.
If I right click it I get two options, New and Open in File Manager.
If I want to refresh it manually, I go to View Menu or F5.
However, sub-folders have other right click options like, Refresh.
Would it be possible to add Refresh as a right click option to the Album Root
Folder?
This is with the Digikam 7.0.0-rc and
macOS: 10.15.5

Thanks for all you do with digikam.

SUMMARY

xfa forms are not supported on okular.

XFA forms are used by government agencies all across the world to work on
various tax returns to begin with and everyone is forced to use adobe reader.

implementing xfa forms in okular would make a world of difference as for many
people still are forced to use adobe reader because its the only software
supporting these forms

this link downloads a sample compliance form which currently NEEDS adobe reader

[kdenlive] [Bug 423619] Custom-made Project Profile Video Settings break Wipe Methods

2020-07-03 Thread lenojames

UPDATE: As a test I switched my project format from the included DV/DVD NTSC
format to the included 1080P HD format, and the wipe methods reappeared. I also
spot-checked some of the 720p formats and they worked as well.

So it appears that using a non-standard or non-HD format causes the wipe
methods to disappear. And switching to a standard HD format will bring them
back.

We've had multiple requests to add this to Spectacle, so... maybe? However
since it would be using a compositor feature, Spectacle could be just one of
multiple potential entry points I suppose. GNOME shell has a global keyboard
shortcut to start recording the whole screen which I quite like.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 406810] Dolphin and Konqueror consume a lot of CPU when Plasma Vault or encfs directory is open for a while

Thanks for the detailed investigation! That's very helpful.

I don't think it's Kubuntu-specific though; I was experiencing it in the past

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 406810] Dolphin and Konqueror consume a lot of CPU when Plasma Vault or encfs directory is open for a while

2020-07-03 Thread Henning
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406810

What I tried since the last post:
I found out that on an identically installation (not a clone) on my notebook
with a copy of the encfs-folders the problem did not exist.
On the PC with the dolphin-encfs-problem ...
- I created a new user: no solution
- I created a new encfs-folder: no solution
- I removed all non-standard mount options from the drives: no solution
- I copied the complete system from the notebook to the PC (and made it boot
again): no solution!!!
- I installed SpaceFM (small, few dependencies, but I like dolphin much more):
anything working correct
Additionally I found out ...
- that the problem only exists with programs creating tmp/bak/swp-files like
kate/kwrite and libreoffice
- that the cpu-load normalizes when changing to another directory, but it goes
back to 100% on one core when one goes back to the directory of the files
- that the cpu-load normalizes when completely deleting the file
- that the cpu-load normalizes after putting the file to the waste bin and
restoring it

The problem is reproducible with the live usb drive with Kubuntu 20.04.0.
Trying live usb drives with "neon-user-20200702-1117" and
"openSUSE-Leap-15.2-KDE-Live-x86_64-Build31.105-Media" act as expected. This
means that it is a Kubuntu 20.04.0 problem which appears only on some
computers. Hence this are the data of my computers:
PC with the problem: i7-3930K, X79 Express chipset, 64 GB RAM, AMD RX580 GPU
Notebook: i5-4200U, ??? chipset, 12 GB RAM, integrated Intel GPU used,
additional GeForce GT 750M not used but driver installed

Finally this probably means that I'm in the wrong forum as it is
Kubuntu-specific. Sorry!

I have tried to update to the Nvidia beta drivers (450.1) and the problem still
persists (I was previously using the stable 440 drivers). This is very likely a
bug in how KWin handles Wine window buffers. Is there something I can do to try
to fix this bug? Changing the backend of the compositor (XRender or OpenGL) has
no effect.
