[plasmashell] [Bug 424636] New: System monitors leak memory, to a tune of 1GB (!) per 24 hours.

2020-07-24 Thread Gilboa Davara
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424636

Bug ID: 424636
Summary: System monitors leak memory, to a tune of 1GB (!) per
24 hours.
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.19.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Monitor
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: gilb...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Just upgrade two of my Fedora KDE boxes to 5.19.x and I'm noticing huge memory
leak from plasmashell.
I'm putting the blame on the system monitors, as removing them all seems to
solve the problem.
I literally have to reset plasmashell (kquitapp plsamshell && plasmashell &) as
it eats ~30GB of RAM. (Both machine have 32GB RAM).
Reverting back to 5.18 solves the problem.

OBSERVED RESULT

numbers take via ssh)

SUMMARY
Every time latte switches to or is started on wayland with the Moe layout on
git version, it crashes with no terminal output. I think this might have
something to do with the floating panels, but I am not sure.
The backtrace is attached, with all apps involved compiled with -Og and -ggdb.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use wayland
2. download moe layout
3. switch to moe layout

OBSERVED RESULT
Latte crashes with no terminal output

EXPECTED RESULT
Latte successfully switches layout

If you minimize a few desktop windows by clicking the Show Desktop widget, they
quite rightly get minimized to the taskbar. Clicking on any one of these
minimized windows should logically restore that window. However, the current
behaviour is that all minimized windows get restored to the desktop
simultaneously in one shot, which I find quite irritating and undesirable. May
I request the behaviour be kindly changed ?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a few windows on the desktop.
2. Click the Show Desktop widget icon.
3. Click one of the minimized windows in the taskbar.

OBSERVED RESULT
All minimized windows get restored to the desktop simultaneously in one shot.

EXPECTED RESULT
Only the window that was clicked in the taskbar should have been restored.

but the wallpaper per VD would be nice.

Years ago I made some patches for Kile and Umbrello applications, but I have no

SUMMARY
Stopping Scheduler seems to cause the Dome setting issue reported elsewhere.
Further attempts at GoTo fail until the dome setting under mount is reset. Even
though there is no dome.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a scheduled job
2. Stop jobs running (such as when weather turns bad)
3. Mount parks as required but scheduler keeps trying to park the mount
4. Try unparking but it does not unpark and gives a message about dome (but I
have no dome)
5. Try parking again and it gives same message.
6. Go into mount options and select dome ignored
7. Goto starts working again

OBSERVED RESULT
Failure mount control after stopping scheduler

EXPECTED RESULT
Mount control to be available

SUMMARY
I have updated to the latest source and reloaded a scheduler job that had
already completed.

I select the reset job button but it does not appear to be doing anything. I
ended up creating another scheduler job and it worked.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. load a saved scheduler job with status 'complete'
2. select a job you want to repeat
3. select reset state and force reevaluation
4. start scheduler and it starts - says no jobs and shuts down

OBSERVED RESULT
Complete remains displayed and scheduler shuts down

Committed on 25/07/2020 at 00:45.
Pushed by ivany into branch 'master'.

Fix crash if soft brush ratio is zero

on linux ratio with size 0 caused Vc to generate incorrect indexes for
the curve lookout values. This is now shielded from the GUI
limiting min ratio values to 0.01

Also values below 0 are masked out in Vc to avoid other similar crashes

Where are the buttons?

All KDE software built from source today, Wayland, 4k screen, 250% scale
factor.

None of the notifications that display buttons on X11 display buttons on
Wayland. See attached screenshot. Pardon the low resolution; I am affected by
Bug 409762.

In the screenshot, the Kup notification should have "Yes" and "No" buttons, and
the other notification should have a "Restart" button.

Also reproducible with notifications from Telegram, which lack buttons or the
quick reply field.

 Component: XML backend
  Assignee: kpab...@willden.org

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Non-ascii characters in XML attribute names need to be escaped. This is done in
the method FileWriter::escape().
Unfortunately, this function is not fully unicode aware, leading to multiple
code points being escaped to the same value. E.g. both "" and "⌘" are escaped
as "_.0". This could lead to ambiguities if two category names just differ by
one character that is mapped to "_.0".

KDELibs4Support

kdelibs4support/src/solid-networkstatus/kded/CMakeLists.txt relies upon
cmake/Qt5DBus/Qt5DBusMacros.cmake to define qt5_add_dbus_adaptor. That file
does not exist in Qt6. The remaining two files in cmake/Qt5DBUS do not define
qt5_add_dbus_adaptor, so CMake throws an error: "Unknown CMake command
"qt5_add_dbus_adaptor".

Just a heads-up, kdelibs4support build will break when Qt releases the next
major version in Dec 2020. Maybe you could simply copy the Macro definition
from Qt5DBusMacros.cmake into CMakelists.txt?

Ah, before you heap endless praise on us, as the messages state, there's still
a problem within 8bit spaces, the colors avarage towards being dark (with
green-red mix ending up black). The two possibilities here is either to use the
precisepaintdevice wrapper as we're doing with the colorsmudge (this however
requires a bit of refactor and makes the brush noticebly slower), or we're
going to try and fix the kocolormixop further.

Committed on 24/07/2020 at 21:56.
Pushed by woltherav into branch 'krita/4.3'.

This fixes the bug where this brush slowly outputs everything to transparent.

The bug was caused by the fact that to sample the input pixels, the crossdevice
color picker was used, which in turn got access to subpixel data by utilizing
the randomsubaccessor, which was getting that data by mixing neighbouring
pixels via the KoColorMixOp. However, the randomsubaccessor isn't able to
generate perfect sums-to-255 weights every single time, meaning transparency
was added.

This commit fixes that by passing a sum of weights to the KoColorMixOp that
only defaults to 255.

Special thanks to Dmitry for figuring this out.

Note: there's still an issue with colors mixing darker in 8bit, we're still
trying to figure that one out. But at the least there's no transparency.

Getting a "not enough space" on saving, is totally normal and expected, getting
it on opening is the weirdest thing ever.

Summing up:

Integer scaling like 1.0 and 2.0 look as expected w/ or w/o a reboot/syncing.
Fractional scaling like 1.5 never looks fine on my side for the lock screen*.

*The login-in screen, despite beeing SDDM as well(?!) looks always fine.

I would close it as INTENDED, you deleted the file, it's your fault, you should
not have deleted it. If you did not delete the file, blame whoever did it.

But I understand the world is imperfect and it would be useful if we could work

Unfortunately from KDiff3's perspective this is not readily solvable. Each
launch triggers a separate KIO job. KIO itself determines if and when a
password will be needed. Passing to this on the the kio team. I believe this
indeed is related to work done for kf5 but the changes are beyond the control
of KDiff3.

I can reproduce this on FreeBSD (although for me, the "search" doesn't work at
all -- typing anything in that field just blanks the list of sensors, as if
none of the sensors match). FreeBSD packages, I should say, which is KF5 5.71
and Plasma 5.19.1.

This is very reminiscent of .. something I recently hit, but I can't remember
where or in which bugtracker. I vaguely remember the QML falling over in
ksysguard because of a missing runtime dependency.

As for tabbing around in the broken state as mentioned by David Redondo, I can
click on *Sensors Details* and then tab to the sensors placed in the *Chart
Sensors* box, but then it stops. And I can shift-tab back to sensors details,
and then it starts cycling between OK and Cancel.

FWIW, it only works for scaling 2.0, for 1.5 the problem persists.
Does syncing only update /etc/sddm.conf or does it also something else?

I don't understand. If pure white is causing eye strain its possibly a
brightness monitor setting. The tool starts using a semi-opaque white so it
takes some of the color of the layers below. In my ccase I use dark cream color
as a base for my sketches and using colorize mask has no harsh effect over my
eyes as the transform visual cue converts into a soft cream color.

In anycase we need a visual cue to show the tool is active and ready to be
edited. If white can be problematic I wonder what can be done as an alternative

[okular] [Bug 402017] Cannot save PDF when loaded file has been deleted

2020-07-24 Thread David Hurka
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402017

> I mean think of this message you would have to show the user "Sorry, we
> can't open your file because you don't have enough space on disk".

If there is not enough space to create a temporary copy, how should the file be
saved after editing?

If the file was streamed-from-disk in that case, it would have to be deleted in
order to save the edited version. But then, nothing can be saved anymore, so I
don’t see the point to not create temporary copies.

So I make another suggestion:

C) Create temporary copies of any file. But if there is not enough space to
make a temporary copy, consider the original file to be the temporary copy (but
remember to not delete it).

D) Like C, but also remove swapBackingFile. I think full reload instead of
swapBackingFile is acceptable in this corner case. (If that would lose e. g.
annotations, the user could still save to .okular first.)

...

Hmm, okay, the user could still save to a remote location.

New-KritaUsageLog

When I opened krita, it shows the version as 4.3.0(The latest version), but
since I was told that the version I had was an older one, I downloaded version
4.3.0 again, hoping that I did have an older, malfunctioning version. But the
problem is still occurring.
