[neon] [Bug 424730] New: My system won't start

2020-07-27 Thread Thallyssonklein
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424730

Bug ID: 424730
   Summary: My system won't start
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Live/Install images
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: thallyssonkl...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

I used Neon for months, and in the last days (I always keep the system up to
date) after restarting my system it didn't start anymore. A screen appears that
asks you to select a system to start, when i select it starts a black screen
where it is not possible to do anything or even open the terminal mode. I
reinstalled it once and managed to use the computer for a day until the same
problem happened again. I tried to reinstall again today and now it doesn't
even install. Attached is the photo of the screen that asks to select the
system and the black screen.

Note: I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad T430u

[digikam] [Bug 424691] Thumbnails not showing for face tags

2020-07-27 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424691

The error message is clear, you have missing rights to the database.

Error messages: "QMYSQL: Unable to execute query" "Access denied for user
'digikam'@'192.168.178.__' (using password: YES)" "1045" 2

Did you observe the requirements tab in the digiKam database settings?
You have set "mariadb" as hostname. Setting access rights to may help:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON digikam.* TO 'digikam'@'mariadb';

[digikam] [Bug 424691] Thumbnails not showing for face tags

2020-07-27 Thread LarsE
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424691

You were right, it seems to be a database related issue - some access error is
shown in the log. Please refer to the attached file.
I'm not sure, which access rights might be missing, since the mentioned user
has all rights and grants on the digikam* databases.
Side note: from my perception all other features (fetch pictures with a
distinct tag, photos inside a certain time-line, etc.) work as expected.

Interesting. Works on KDE neon 19.3 as well. Shouldn't we add these as
dependencies or there's something else going wrong without these installed?

[skrooge] [Bug 424728] New: Skrooge reconciliation should play happy sounds when delta is 0 and when you validate pointed operations

2020-07-27 Thread skierpage
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424728

Bug ID: 424728
Summary: Skrooge reconciliation should play happy sounds when
delta is 0 and when you validate pointed operations
   Product: skrooge
   Version: Trunk from git
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: guillaume.deb...@gmail.com
  Reporter: skierp...@gmail.com
CC: steph...@mankowski.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In reconciliation mode, it's easy to miss when the delta goes to 0 and a
checkmark appears. Then when you click the checkmark to "validate pointed
operations" it's a bit anticlimactic ;-) . Skrooge plays a sound for every
operation update, but not for these happy occasions. FWIW, Quicken Deluxe plays
a cash register sound effect when you complete reconciliation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In Skrooge, go into reconciliation mode
2. Mark ("point") operations until marked transactions match the balance, so
the delta is 0.
3. Click the checkmark to validate pointed operations.

OBSERVED RESULT
No sounds play.

EXPECTED RESULT
Happy sounds. Delta of 0 is not a guarantee that you've marked the right
transactions, so it should be cautiously optimistic. Maybe use coin sound for
the first, and a cash register ka-ching for the second.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Wikimedia Commons is a good source of completely free sounds. It says its
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cash_register.ogg comes from
http://soundbible.com/333-Cash-Register-Cha-Ching.html , but the latter is much
shorter.

For coins, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bag_of_coins.ogg is great
but goes on and on, it would need an edit. The latter site has an overlong coin
jingle that one could edit, or a shorter

Quick update, did some more experimenting, this is no longer an issue with just
KDE. Picom with GLX instead of software rendering crashes horribly on the 450
driver (and of course was also fine on 440). So this is definitely an Nvidia
issue now. I filed a report with them like you suggested and I guess the best
thing to do at this point is roll back to 440.

Yeah. Krita reads and knows it's int, but then ignores it completely.

Btw is there any place to get this file but cropped/much smaller? It eats lots
of RAM and time to open it, and of course cropping in Krita or Gimp (since I
have an older version) or Darktable destroys the uniqueness of the file, since
it's converted from ints to uints.

help. With graphics acceleration the bug doesn't occur, however it does
have a similar result with OpenGL. The only difference in that case is the
canvas does not show the tiling issue with the cursor, however I still
can't interact with the canvas. I should also note that attempting to pan
with the overview navigator doesn't work either. Apologies, I forgot to
mention that part in the original report.

My experience is like David de Cos from comment #9.
This has happened twice to me (May and July 2020), 2 of about 8 restarts (all
due to kernel updates). Both times my Plain Color wallpaper and Desktop layout
revert to the default Fedora wallpaper and Folder View. But not every time; I
set up debugging per
https://community.kde.org/Solid/Projects/ScreenManagement#Debugging_Information
before my last restart and my setup remained.

I have a laptop with external display that occasionally experiences a different

Does it happen in Krita 4.3.0 or just in the Krita Plus? Also what is the exact
color space of that image?

Would be actually best if you could provide a .kra file and maybe either a
brush preset or say which one of the default ones at which size and which layer
creates this issue.

I, while the artifacts while painting and general performance was awful,
couldn't reproduce the issue.

A note for Krusader developers: If this bug is solved, then the 0f153592 commit
(which could be seen in https://commits.kde.org/krusader/0f153592) should be
undone in the source code of Krusader (because it was aimed to avoid that
Krusader users see the effects of the bug).

It's more likely to be a tablet driver issue. Please try following things:

- reinstall your tablet driver, restart your PC, check if it works,
- switch Krita to Windows Ink:
https://docs.krita.org/en/contributors_manual/user_support.html#quick-solutions
- and restart your PC and check if it works.

If it still doesn't work, you can ask Huion support for help. They will
probably be able to help you more.

Todd, while the root cause (an upstream frameworks-kbookmarks bug) is solved: a
commit has been applied to the source code of Krusader in order to achieve that
Krusader users do not see the effects of the bug, and so they can work as they
expect.

If you can follow the steps of
https://commits.kde.org/krusader?path=INSTALL
then you can build the git version of Krusader, get its latest features now,
and tell Krusader developers about what you find.

[dolphin] [Bug 424723] New: UX improvement to avoid data-loss when pressing 'back' or 'up'.

2020-07-27 Thread Tom
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424723

Bug ID: 424723
Summary: UX improvement to avoid data-loss when pressing 'back'
or 'up'.
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: panels: folders
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: t...@freedommail.ch
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Dolphin has a hard rule on what do to if you enter a folder from one of its
subfolders. It selects the folder you 'came' from. This has UX problems, though
as this is a bit random and allows people to lose their data.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start dolphin, for instance from krunner typing 'Downloads'.
2. Press 'up'.
3. Notice that 'Downloads' is selected
4. An unsuspecting user might not notice and select a file in this dir by the
'plus' hover icon.
5. pressing 'delete' now moves to trash 2 items, while the user never selected
the dir.

It seems that Dolphin by default always selects the one folder it came from,
overruling any selection that was there before.

To work towards a solution I would like to invite you to try one more test:

1. open dolphin and select any directory
2. navigate 'up'.
3. press outside of all items in order to remove the selection.

Notice that at this point your folder you came from still has an underline. A
simple 'return' will enter that dir again.

I would like to suggest that instead of selecting an item that Dolphin only
sets the anchor. Or does an m_selectionManager->clearSelection(); after the
current select.

This gives all users the benefits they currently have and this avoids the
problem of unsuspecting users losing directories by deleting them because
Dolphin auto selected the folder for them.

I am not sure I understand the problem with respect to the background.

The fact that the active zone of the slider extends to the full height looks
like a deliberate choice made in https://phabricator.kde.org/D22951 . We have
to decide if we want to keep the easy usage of if we want to revert those
changes.

I can confirm that reverting the changes indeed solves the issue here.

Git commit cc3745ed6efe898e962fc61def108ce67b6a20fb by Eoin O'Neill.
Committed on 27/07/2020 at 20:27.
Pushed by eoinoneill into branch 'krita/4.3'.

Fix KRA Saving Failure When Audio File is Missing

When audio file is moved after assignment, saving would fail because the file
couldn't be found.
Instead of failing to save, Krita should save the user's desired file path
regardless, and missing files
should be handled on next load.

Thanks for your report.

Your first step cannot be solved for the next release because that would need
adding a new error message for invalid paths. Elisa is not supporting smb://
paths right now. This is a feature request.

Your second step might work if the music backend of Elisa is supporting smb://
paths itself and the file path is handled correctly. I will see if this can be
fixed for next release.

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

SUMMARY

Latte docks/panels unresponsive after updating

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. build latte from master
2. run application
3. attempt to interact with icons/widgets

OBSERVED RESULT

docks and panels do not respond to left clicks or right clicks. settings can
still be accessed via meta + a, but it only applies to the primary panel and
there is no way to edit secondary dock.

the behaviour seems similar to a plasma-framework mismatch as described in the
latte dock FAQ, but if I understand correctly this should not be an issue when
building from master?

EXPECTED RESULT

Docks/panels fully clickable and editable.

Any chance to also backport this fix to the 5.18 series? As 5.18 is what is in
the current Ubuntu LTS, having the fix there would benefit many users.

EDIT- This also happens with Meta + Z, Meta+x, and Meta+C. It likely works on
others too. I still have no indication as to why this happens. The
often-freezes are also quite common, and I additionally have no idea why THEY
happen. The log I attached is ONLY when I was tested with meta+M, I havent
accesed the log when it occaisonally crashed, as I didn't have the foresight to
launch latte with the debug flag. I will update this when I next have the
freeze, as from here on out I will launch latte in debug mode.

[lattedock] [Bug 424721] New: Latte dock freezes on pressing "Meta + M"

2020-07-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424721

Bug ID: 424721
Summary: Latte dock freezes on pressing "Meta + M"
   Product: lattedock
   Version: 0.9.11
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: gregorystar...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If I press Meta + M, it freezes Latte Dock, and it is unresponsive. I can't
click on anything on the dock, there are no hover indicators, and the activity
manager doesn't change. This also happens randomly every so often without
indication of the cause, so I haven't submitted a bug for that, but I know that
Meta+M crashes it. The debug log doesn't provide much indication as to the
cause of the crash- on pressing Meta+M it prints some brief info as to screen
sizes, which is useless, before the log also stops. Meta+M corresponds to
'Entry 17' in system settings by default, so that may be related. This is the
relavent sectionof the log-

[debug 14:22:30.336336] -
[debug 14:22:30.337337] - 0 .  "eDP1"  -  Plasma::Types::TopEdge
[debug 14:22:30.337337] - 1 .  "eDP1"  -  Plasma::Types::LeftEdge
[debug 14:22:30.337337] - sorted -
[debug 14:22:30.337337] - 0 .  false  -  "eDP1"  -  Plasma::Types::LeftEdge
[debug 14:22:30.337337] - 1 .  false  -  "eDP1"  -  Plasma::Types::TopEdge
Terminated

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Latte-Dock
2. Press meta+M

OBSERVED RESULT
Latte Freezes
EXPECTED RESULT
Latte doesn't freeze
