No, the last patch tries to fix the problem with the internal MySQL server,
which is completely managed by digiKam, which results in destroyed database
tables. The problem does not affect an external MySQL server. I need the
DebugView log from comment 6.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432996] New: Animations minize applications to a non-existant panel after removing it

2021-02-15 Thread Andrés B . S .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432996

Bug ID: 432996
Summary: Animations minize applications to a non-existant panel
after removing it
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.90
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: andresbs2...@protonmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Messing around with my system I added a second panel (one at the top and
already had one at the bottom). After minimizing some open applications and
removing the top Panel, leaving only the bottom one, the animation (Squash
effect) 'squahes' the windows to the just removed (top) Panel.
Not a big deal, but it may help uncover other bugs.
I am using an X.Org session.

Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.2
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.3.18-lp152.63-default

[pulseaudio-qt] [Bug 432995] New: Device Profile for Built-In Audio not applying

2021-02-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432995

Bug ID: 432995
Summary: Device Profile for Built-In Audio not applying
   Product: pulseaudio-qt
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: nicolas.fe...@gmx.de
  Reporter: c...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

After upgrading from Kubuntu 20.04 to 20.10 the Device Profile for my Built-In
audio is not applying after system restart. Having not found anything that
matched this topic in the bug tracker or forums, I submitted a post
(https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=17=169612) and have not had any hits.

My computer has two Audio controllers.
* Built-in Audio (Profile: Analog Surround 2.1 Output) "This is the set
destination of Output"
* GP104 High Definition Audio Controller (Profile: Digital Stereo (HDMI 3)
Output) "I don't use the HDMI output"

Sound is produced fine until the computer is restarted. After logging back in
the sound either plays via HDMI or shows as disabled (red X in tray) and will
not produce sound. The values are still properly set in the Settings panel and
to resume normal playback I have to change the Built-in audio to any other
value and then back to 2.1. It doesn't happen every restart, but more often
than not [update: it does now]. It seems similar to
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=309=167621=device+profile,
although I don't have a problem with the device not showing. I attempted to
reset pulseaudio by following the instruction in that topic, but it didn't seem
to have any impact.

claydoh wrote:
Try running pulseaudio -k, then delete the ~/.config/pulse and any pulse
related file in the top level of your home dir. This will cause all the sound
detection and configs to be recreated. You might have to run pulseaudio -k
again after deleting the files.

Thanks for the help!

Application: ktorrent (20.12.2)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Operating System: Linux 5.8.0-36-generic x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Drkonqi Version: 5.20.90
Distribution: Ubuntu Hirsute Hippo (development branch)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:I was downloading torrents, I
finished downloading one of them and closed the application correctly. Then I
rebooted the system from the menu and when trying to open Ktorrent it would
continually close showing unexpected shutdown error messages. When clicking on
the option to reopen the application, the closing error repeats itself
constantly, to the point that it is impossible to use the application directly

- Unusual behavior I noticed:I noticed some strange behavior when clicking on
the torrent to download since I accidentally clicked it and Dolphin opened. It
didn't seem like Ktorrent's usual behavior.

- Custom settings of the application:The number of seeds has been modified to
1024, the number of global connections to 1024, use DHT, the option to sow
after finishing the download and use of microUTP is disabled

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Bug ID: 432989

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_touchpad
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: danielzgtg.opensou...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Touchpad settings are not applied after disconnecting and reconnecting the
Surface Type Cover.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Have a custom cursor speed, natural scrolling on, and tap-to-click on,
unlike the defaults
2. Start up and log into tablet with the Surface Type Cover connected
3. Use the touchpad and observe the settings to be working
4. Detach the Surface Type Cover
5. Reattach the Surface Type Cover
6. Use the touchpad and observe again

OBSERVED RESULT

My settings are not applied. The cursor is slower than comfortable. The scroll
direction is opposite to what I prefer, and I can't tap to click.

The error state does not persist across a reboot.

A workaround is to run "kcminit" or even just opening System Settings and
clicking "Apply" on the touchpad settings after changing a setting away and
back.

EXPECTED RESULT

My touchpad should keep the same settings before and after reconnecting it.

FileFilter: don't create a hotspot for ''

Only '.' and '..' could be valid hotspots, but '..' isn't. The
latter is used by some CLI tools to indicate progress ...etc.

To test, in any dir use `ls -a`, Ctrl + clicking '.' and '..' should
open the current dir and parent of the current dir respectively.

Type .. at the prompt, before it would get underlined, after no
hotspot will be created for it.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432987] New: Wacom tablet input is ignored

  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Kickoff completely ignores input from my Wacom tablet, unlike the rest of
Plasmashell or KDE.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Hover the pen until the cursor is above the KDE icon, then touch the pen
down to the Wacom tablet to click
2. Do the same thing to move anywhere inside the menu, then click again

OBSERVED RESULT

Nothing happens.

I've tried clicking "Applications", "Places", "Sleep", "Restart", "Shut Down",
"Leave...", my username, my profile photo, all of my favourites, all of the
categories, the arrows on the categories, and the scroll bars. I have also
tried dragging (all 4 directions) to scroll the list of categories.

Other parts of Plasmashell respond properly to the Wacom tablet, such as the
desktop switcher, pinned applications, open windows, taskbar icons, the clock.
Dolphin and System Settings also respond. Parts of Kickoff respond properly to
a touchscreen and touchpad, but they completely ignore my Wacom tablet.

EXPECTED RESULT

Input from my Wacom tablet should elict the same response from Kickoff as input
from my touchscreen

  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

It is very hard to tap to open settings on a touchscreen.

Tapping the profile picture in the menu works significantly less often than
tapping a pinned icon in the taskbar. This does not occur with a touchpad, even
when dragging. A while ago, I had to tap around 10 times for it to work. Today
it only worked once after tapping a hundred times.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Tap the KDE icon on the taskbar to open Kickoff
2. Tap your profile photo
3. Count the number of times you have to repeat step 2 before settings open

OBSERVED RESULT

I have to tap too many times for it to work.

EXPECTED RESULT

It should work after just one tap.

Alternatively, if I'm not supposed to be able to open it on a touchscreen,
there shouldn't be the outline that suggests clickability.

I have a similar problem with plasma 5.19.5:
Auto-hide panels raise themselves on all monitors on switching windows, by
mouse or key, and remain raised until I click in the panel (on anything) then
move the mouse cursor out of the panel. Only the panel clicked in hides.

A *workaround* is to check settings, window management, window behaviour,
advanced, special windows, hide utility windows for inactive applications.
Then auto-hide works correctly, once each panel gets hidden. Note that there
are no "special" or "utility" windows anywhere.

Display confirmation dialog only once when files in archive are modified

Since QFileSystemWatcher::fileChanged is emitted everytime flush()
is called on a file, slotWatchedFileModified gets called multiple times,
especially for large files. (see https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-8244)

If no new fileChanged signal is emitted 200ms after the last one,
we interpret that as "the file has been fully written"

200ms was arbitrarily chosen to be a balance between a long enough flush
interval
and "instant" feedback to the user, but it can be fine tuned later.

To have a flexible way to specify when/where a memory allocation should fail,
we might use a something that re-uses (part of) the suppression infrastructure:

The user would give a file with 'suppression-like' entries, but instead of
suppressing errors, these entries would put a limit (in nr of allocated blocks
and/or nr of allocated bytes) after which a malloc would return NULL.

That should be relatively cpu-cheap to implement, as the matching between
the alloc stacktrace and the 'heap-limit supp entries' has to be done
only the first time a new stacktrace is stored in the list of stack traces.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 432984] New: Krusader tar content display does not show full filenames

2021-02-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432984

Bug ID: 432984
Summary: Krusader tar content display does not show full
filenames
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

Hi,

i am using krusader to display the contents of tar/tgz files, but i came across
a tar that will only show a partial filename.

For example, in the tar i have (tar tvf file.tar) files like these:

-rw-r--r-- root/root 13046 2021-01-03 18:57
./root/.local/share/remarkable/xochitl/2b3ee1a9-f544-4064-9034-947cf7d3947a.thumbnails/73b2ef1e-a9bc-40ae-8281-db2a34e035f0.jpg
-rw-r--r-- root/root 13855 2021-01-03 19:21
./root/.local/share/remarkable/xochitl/2b3ee1a9-f544-4064-9034-947cf7d3947a.thumbnails/0d85f813-01f3-42b2-a421-8d098a632611.jpg
-rw-r--r-- root/root 16931 2020-11-10 01:02
./root/.local/share/remarkable/xochitl/2b3ee1a9-f544-4064-9034-947cf7d3947a.thumbnails/c8dc83c6-d670-4370-a95d-8e0d5bb3a3f5.jpg
-rw-r--r-- root/root 9269 2021-01-03 19:04
./root/.local/share/remarkable/xochitl/2b3ee1a9-f544-4064-9034-947cf7d3947a.thumbnails/5df7a022-acb0-48d7-b082-d9ddcabebb22.jpg

In the krusader pane, i only see this:
0d85f813-01f3
0d3742d9-50fe
1c5aad6a-783c

Pressing F3 on any of those abbreviated filenames still works though, the file
content is shown properly.
But, pressing Enter to start the associated file does not work (well, because
the filename displayed in the panel is cut off).
I can of course select the proper application (like gwenview) which will then
happily display the selected file.

This is more than annoying, because with other tar archives this works fine,
all files are displayed correctly (filename and extension).
Any advice?

I tested it again with the fonts Impact and Arial. These fonts did not crash
Krita immediately upon giving it a gradient outline - however, once I went to
change the text's font (to be precise, as soon as I clicked on the font
drop-down list), the program crashed. The font I was originally using is called

and you were right again. I tried that yesterday and it didn't change

Anyway, sorry for wasting your time. I still believe that making assumptions is

Hi. I have tried the latest AppImage, and opening one of my older projects

any update?

I have the same issue as Markus. Alt+h is not working for me. I can fix it by
assigning and unassigning key in settings->shortcuts, but it lasts only to the
last reboot.

Is there any command using which I can assign/deassign shortcut so I can create
some workaround script?

Thanks

Please do not make assumptions on what is the problem because I can not follow.

>From my understanding the problem is in your system:

B1. Go to plasma systemsettings->application style->window decorations. What
theme are you using for Window Decorations?
B2. Go to plasma systemsettings->Colors->what color scheme have you chosen?
B3. With your mouse go to [2] selected color scheme, end at the bottom right
corner there is a pencil. Use the pencil to open Color Scheme editor.
B4. After B3 search for the color of Active Titlebar. Is it set to dark? or
even better to plasma theme background color?

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 432962] When an icon isn't found in the Plasma theme and it falls back to the icon theme, it can't fall back again to the icon theme's fallback theme

2021-02-15 Thread Nate Graham

That could work too: first fall back to the icon in the Breeze plasma theme,
and if nothing is found, fall back to the active icon theme.

Personally I think we should remove icons from Plasma themes entirely in KF6
and only have icons in the icon theme. This would be way less confusing to
users and prevent bugs like this automatically.

Yeah, bug reports are already in place, but anyway, I believe sharing these
notes here as well is worthwhile since this bugreport is about the only setting
in Plasma that (somehow) relates to the described effects, and that setting
doesn't work neither system-wide (symlink needed) nor for apps I mentioned. All
I hope for is that due to bigger audience someone would check/confirm, some
would report a similar issue, and someone might even fix it eventually.

[plasmashell] [Bug 431821] Task Manager is not reflecting dynamic WM_CLASS changes

2021-02-15 Thread Ivo Šmerek
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431821

Alright, I managed to get this working. It is related to the fact, that
WM_CLASS property has two variables. Look at these two following commands.

Command 1:

> xprop -name "Talos - Linux - 64bit" -f WM_CLASS 8s -set WM_CLASS "Talos -
> Linux - 64bit"
Leads to:

> $ xprop WM_CLASS
>
> WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Talos - Linux - 64bit"

Command 2:

> xdotool search --onlyvisible --name "Talos - Linux - 64bit" set_window
> --class "Talos - Linux - 64bit"
Leads to:

> $ xprop WM_CLASS
> WM_CLASS(STRING) = "", "Talos - Linux - 64bit"

In xdotool they distinguish these variables as --classname and --class. When I
change --class, KDE Task Manager react properly and remap particular .desktop
file. But when I change only --classname, nothing happens.

So if you think Task Manager works correctly, feel free to close this issue.

2021-02-15 Thread Alexander

Bug ID: 432977
Summary: webdav:// "file or folder xxx doesn't exist

CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I'd like to connect to a local nextcloud in DOLPHIN via webdav. It works with
nautilus, but not with dolphin.

In dolphin tried many combinations in the address line:

- webdav or webdavs at the beginning ("webdav://" or "webdavs://"), followed
by:
- 192.168.abc.xyz/remote.php/dav/files/Keks/
- 192.168.abc.xyz/nextcloud/remote.php/dav/files/Keks/

Keks is the username in the nextcloud on the remote server

Whatever, I always get the same error message in the end: no connection to
server.
Sometimes there is a warning that I tried to connect to a server using a
username on a site where no username were necessary.

Same error when using the button "Add Network Folder".

In nautilus it works out of the box: click on connect to server,
- davs://192.168.abc.xyz/remote.php/dav/files/Keks/ immediately asks for
username and password and that's it.

I translated from German to English, so exact wording in English my be slightly
different.

OS: TW, up-to-date.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open dolphin
2. click on network
3. click on add network folder
4. choose webdav
5. insert data
6. click save & connect

OBSERVED RESULT
error message

EXPECTED RESULT
connection to webdav

[kate] [Bug 432976] New: Kate lacks Zig syntax highlighting and detects .zig files as C language, breaking LSP plugin

2021-02-15 Thread nyanpasu64
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432976

Bug ID: 432976
Summary: Kate lacks Zig syntax highlighting and detects .zig
files as C language, breaking LSP plugin
   Product: kate
   Version: 20.12.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: syntax
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: nyanpas...@tuta.io
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When I open a .zig file in Kate, it's detected as C language, causing the LSP
plugin to launch clangd instead of zls.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Kate and open a .zig file.
2. Optionally enable the "LSP Client" plugin, and open the "LSP Client" tool
view and look at the Messages tab.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kate recognizes the Zig source code file as C. As a result, the LSP client
launches clangd (which fails to parse the file, and gives inaccurate
completions) instead of zls.

EXPECTED RESULT
Kate recognizes the Zig source file as Zig, applies Zig syntax highlighting,
and launches zls (which the LSP client is already configured to do).

I don't know if it's intentional that Kate doesn't offer Zig highlighting and
requires that you install it yourself. But it seems strange considering that
Kate's LSP plugin offers a built-in rule
(https://invent.kde.org/utilities/kate/-/merge_requests/117) to recognize Zig
highlighting and run zls, yet Kate doesn't have a built-in Zig highlighting
mode.

In the end, I installed https://github.com/ziglang/kde-syntax-highlighting
(last updated 2018), which required `mkdir -p
$HOME/.local/share/org.kde.syntax-highlighting/syntax/` since the folder didn't
exist yet. After switching previously opened files from C to Zig highlighting
mode, zls is called properly.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 432962] When an icon isn't found in the Plasma theme and it falls back to the icon theme, it can't fall back again to the icon theme's fallback theme

My usual plasma theme is Aya and I guess it may have less maintenance than
Breeze and Oxygen.
A fallback to a safe default (should it be breeze or should there be some
fallback icon provided by plasma itself without any theme?) would be nice.
