[kwin] [Bug 451300] Plasma Wayland Session: Hardware GSYNC with NVIDIA GPU not working

2022-03-09 Thread Hexagon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451300

I found this:
https://zamundaaa.github.io/wayland/2021/12/14/about-gaming-on-wayland.html

As of version 5.23 kwin_wayland supports
rendering multiple screens at different refresh rates
dynamic adjustment to the current rendering load, to minimize latency
Adaptive Sync / FreeSync / (once NVidia supports it on Wayland) GSync
direct scanout with fullscreen apps

Here someone says that kwin_wayland will support GSync as soon as NVIDIA
supports it on Wayland. My question:
Is Gsync not working on KDE Wayland due to KDE or to the NVIDIA driver? I would
like to know if it is just a bug or maybe not implemented yet on KDE or NVIDIA
side. Thanks for your help.

This is a new type of Permissions tab. A security-wise Permissions tab.

By default, the tab **will not** list all possible permissions.

The tab will appear **only** when permissions were specifically enabled or
disabled to a given website.

Use check button to make change permission status (enabled/disabled).

At the end, user will Apply or Cancel or OK (approve) changes that were made.

The file :

Give no thumbnail. This is not relevant of ffmpeg/qtav backend, but directly by
QImage jpx loader.

Also this file cannot be loaded to image editor.

Do you know if Qt jpx loader support animated container, at least to load first
frame (as for gifa for ex).

Something that is more elegant than FF. That one is more of TL;DR. Don't use
the FF/IE "View Certificate" button.

Proposed info to display:

Bottom
Use table widget to present the certificate.

--- END DIALOG

P.S. Looking at FF Security tab, it looks that they didn't put much time to it,
notice the buttons, to open a new dialog, lack of Ellipsis. I guess FF/MZ have
done so intentionally to keep the novice and curious user away from it.

I can not reproduce the problem, all information is also written in the sidecar
of the RAW file. Is your RAW file sidecar possibly read-only?
Sample images, JPG + RAW + sidecar, with which the problem occurs with you
would also be good.
Otherwise we need a DebugView log during the write process, you can find a

[yakuake] [Bug 451352] New: Wrong width calculated when two different sized monitors are used (Wayland only)

2022-03-09 Thread Radim Hopp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451352

Bug ID: 451352
Summary: Wrong width calculated when two different sized
monitors are used (Wayland only)
   Product: yakuake
   Version: 21.12.2
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: radim.h...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have two monitors layout - 1920x1080 & 3440x1440. The yakuake window size is
correctly calculated by the left-most display.
So if I setup yakuake width to be 100%
* When the 1920x1080 monitor is on the left, then yakuake window size is 1920
width even when opened on the big monitor
* When the 3440x1440 monitor is on the left, yakuake window width is 3440 even
when opened on the small monitor (making lot of the window rendered outside of
visible area)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have dual monitor setup with different resolutions. Ideally with the wider
monitor on the left.
2. Set yakuake width to 100% (reproducible also with smaller widths, but with
100% it's most notable)
3. Show yakuake on the rigt-side, smaller monitor

OBSERVED RESULT
Yakuake is wider than the monitor width.

EXPECTED RESULT
Yakuake takes exactly 100% of the monitor width.

[kwin] [Bug 451350] New: Panel creates invisible edges on secondary monitors

2022-03-09 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451350

Bug ID: 451350
Summary: Panel creates invisible edges on secondary monitors
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.24.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: multi-screen
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: cnel...@mailbox.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

When using multiple monitors, the panel from one display will create invisible
window snap points on other displays. This is more noticeable when the panel is
anchored to the top of one display. Dragging a window around on the secondary
monitor will cause the window to catch and try to snap to these invisible
edges.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect multiple monitors. This is easier to notice if one monitor is
aligned higher or lower than another.
2. Drag a window around on the second display where the panel from the first
display lines up.
3. The window will catch on invisible edges that align with the top and bottom
of another displays panel

OBSERVED RESULT
- Dragged windows catch on invisible edges that extend from panels on other
monitors

EXPECTED RESULT
- Each panel should only create snap points for the monitor it is on, and
shouldn't affect windows being dragged on other displays.

BorderlessMaximizedWindows can be set in ~/.config/kwinrc, but is not
accessible from the graphical system settings interface. This makes it
effectively undiscoverable unless explicitly and successfully googled for, and
even then some users might feel uncomfortable editing config files. Since I
repeatedly see people asking about it, it might be worth exposing this option

2022-03-09 Thread mippo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451347

Bug ID: 451347
Summary: Missing Rating info in xmp for RAW files
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.6.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata-Sidecar
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mip...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The picture rating info, of a RAW picture, are not written in the related xmp
sidecar file.
Specifically regarding the Star, Flag and Color (not sure about other).
Actually they work for the JPG files, but not for RAW files, even if that info
are correctly shown in the preview of the GUI interface.
Probably, my opinion, is that they are written in the Database, but not in the
xmp sidecar file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. select the two files JPG and RAW, related to a same picture, regardless
they are "Grouped" or not;
2. apply a Star or a Flag or a Color rating, or even a combination of them;
3. open the TWO xmp files just created, using any text editor ;
4. find the Star, Flag or color setting you applied, in both jpg and RAW
sidecar files
5. you will find the correct setting in the jpg xmp file, but not in the RAW
xmp file;

OBSERVED RESULT
see point 5. above

EXPECTED RESULT
I need the same result settings reflected in both jpg and RAW xmp files, in
order to allow some further software manipulation using other tools.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 370676] Greeter shows wallpaper, but no input widgets; cannot unlock screen

2022-03-09 Thread nyanpasu64
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370676

I think qtvirtualkeyboard-plugin doesn't so much "fix" kscreenlocker but
workaround the bug. Pressing Tab leaves the entire screen invisible, but once
you move your mouse, the virtual keyboard button (not the password field) is
focused, and typing your password does nothing. I think this is a bug in of
itself.

The bug lies in Qt Quick, where pressing Tab when *all* focusable items have
invisible *parents* hangs the app. Installing the virtual keyboard causes
kscreenlocker to add an extra button which itself becomes invisible while its
parent remains visible
(https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/0d491641f3ea148417283819994228aab6896041/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml#L523-535).
This coincidentally avoids the condition necessary to trigger the Qt Quick hang
bug. The upstream bug reports are:

- I reported https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-96762 (marked as duplicate
of below)
- https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-87190 (unfixed)

Qt Quick has a long history of tab focus bugs:

- https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-81839 (marked as duplicate of below)
- https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-81510 (fixed in 5.14.2 and 5.15.0)
- https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-65943 (unfixed)
- https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-59181 (fixed in 5.12.0)

(And Qt Widgets has scenarios where Tab followed by Shift+Tab doesn't return to
the starting widget, which is less severe than a hang. Tab navigation is hard.)

Idea: When the password entry is hidden, intercept Tab presses and treat it
like moving the mouse (show the lock screen and focus the password field),
rather than letting Qt search for an item to focus. When the password entry is
shown, let Tab switch widgets as usual.

An easy way to test multiscreen if you don't have one is using something like:
$ krfb-virtualmonitor --name "a" --password "banana123" --resolution 1000x1000
--port 2299

It will create a virtual monitor as if you just connected one.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE [ this goes from the start of installation and was achieved
on a Samsung Galaxy xCover 5 smartphone running Android 11 build number
RP1A.200720.012.G525FXXS5AVB3 ]
1) Install the Elisa APK from the KDE Binary Factory (I downloaded the APK
using Mozilla Firefox for Android)

2) Open the Elisa application and open the hamburger menu on the left side of
the screen and click on "settings"

3) Scroll down to where it says "Music Folders" and click on "Add New Location"
and select the file location of where your music is stored, for me the app
displays the following path:
content://com.android.externalstorage.documents/tree/primary%3AMusic
even if the actual file path selected in the file browser is
/storage/emulated/0/Music according to the file browser "Total Commander"

4) Then close out of the settings page and in the hamburger menu, select any of
the options that will try to index system files e.g. "Tracks" or "Files". The
problem you'll get (or at least the problem I got) is a pink circle doing an
infinite loop trying to load something but fails to actually load anything
after minuets of loading, this has the same outcome whether the "Use fast
native indexer" or the "Scan the filesystem directly" option is selected in the
app's settings under the "Music Indexing" option.

Another potential variable is that my music folder has individual tracks that
were downloaded from Soundcloud and tracks that are a part of albums which are
in their own folders which were downloaded from Bandcamp both on a Windows 10
Computer (specifically an Acer Aspire XC-705 SFF Desktop but this info is
irrelevant).
The file types in the music folder selected are JPGs, MP3s, WMAs, M4As, FLACs,
(2) XSPFs (playlist files), (2) S3Ms (tracker/MOD files), plus a folder of a
totally legitimate copy of Mike Oldfield's "Ommadawn" album which has the
folder types .BUP, .IFO, .VOB plus there is a "hidden" /.thumbnails folder with
2 files one is a file called ".database_uuid" and another file called
".nomedia"
Another factor is that I also have VLC Media Player installed which could be an
issue if there are conflicting ffmpeg libraries installed on my device but
probably not...

OBSERVED RESULT
No music is loaded and no files are visible

EXPECTED RESULT
Music & other files are loaded in the app namely the "Tracks", "Artists",
"Albums" and "Files" section accessible via the hamburger menu

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a Samsung Galaxy xCover 5 smartphone running Android 11 with One UI
Version 3.1 on the Vodafone UK mobile network. The phone has at least 2GB of
RAM and at least 16GB of internal storage.

I'm not sure about the specific application version but it was whatever the
latest release of the Arm64 apk file on the KDE Binary Factory (or whatever the
site directory is called) on Tuesday 8th March 2022 at some point in the late
evening. I don't know the specific app version as the file I downloaded doesn't
display an app version, nor is it listed in the app itself BUT the "Settings"
app on my phone says under "App info" that the version of Elisa that was
installed is "Version 21.07.70" which is not an option that can be selected on
the KDE bugs report website (bugs.kde.org) so I don't know if I was supposed to
download this version or not and expect it to work...
And yes I already knew that it wouldn't be fully featured as the Android
version of Elisa is not at all publicised (for good reason it seems!) - William

I'm using AppImage (digiKam-7.6.0-x86-64) with MariaDB. When I set up MariaDB
digiKam asked me to set up a password and I saved that password. When I look in
~/.config/digitkamrc inside the Database Settings section it has a Database
Encrypted Password value set.

When I was looking around I found a mysql.err file that contains entries from
today. Apparently MariaDB crashed. It said to look at:
https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/innodb-recovery-modes/.

I got innodb_force_recovery=1 in /etc/my.cnf and restarted MariaDB with
systemctl restart mariadb. But this doesn't seem to have fixed anything. I even
tried 2 and that didn't work.

So at this point I've given up hope. I'm going to try to restore a backup but I
suspect I'll have to tear everything down and start over again.

The real question I care about is - what happened to cause the corruption in
the first place? I have never touched any of the DBs directly. I just use
digiKam.

[plasmashell] [Bug 451342] New: Allow a two-row layout for session/power buttons in the main menu

The standard menu has options to show "session" "power" or "power and session"
buttons. When selecting the third option, the menu gets very wide.

A two-row layout would allow the menu to keep the same size as it has when only
session or only power buttons are shown and still allow to access all functions
without using a submenu.

2022-03-09 Thread Dick Tracey
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450337

In 5.24.3, I can no longer reproduce the issues (2), (3), (4).

Issue (1) remains though: after a monitor sleep & wake, all windows in the
primary still get stuck to the secondary.

To reproduce:

1. Turn off (using power button) secondary monitor, then primary monitor
2. Turn on secondary monitor: all windows & panels are now moved to secondary
monitor
3. Turn on the primary monitor (this emulates the actual behavior when they're
waking up, my monitors are different brands/models, and the primary takes a few
seconds longer to wake up): panel goes back to the primary monitor, but open
windows that were originally in the primary and now stuck in the secondary.

Given that the title of the issue has been changed to that of issue (4), should
I create a new issue for (1)?

[plasmashell] [Bug 360478] Desktop widgets and Folder View icons do not remember their sizes and positions on a per-resolution basis

2022-03-09 Thread Uwe Dippel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360478

It does get funny now. The last 20 or so comments are marked as 'spam' and are
not visible by default.

There are some in here who have tried whatever they could to help. farid is
right: learn to code. In this case case, however, not, because there is no
design, no manifest, no requirements. The current implementation - though buggy
- implements frightfully well the design.
The design doesn't consider changing real estate while switching display. Since
nobody has come forward to lay out rules for action to be taken in such
situations, I'd be, well, more satisfied if the project marked this bug as
'won't fix' with "follows design [sigh]".

Let's not get bitter nor childish. "Use another DE if you don't like this" is
pointless. We use it because we like it.
"We don't have sufficient contributors" is probably honest, and sad. Though, be
honest in that case and state what the project and the remaining contributors
are able, willing and interested to do.
Maybe the problem is me, my advanced age, being on Linux for almost 30 years,
and implicitly assuming (still!) - or hoping - to be on an OS and a DE that is
at least on par with some software from Redmond.

[dolphin] [Bug 451340] New: Dolphin drag-and-drop: the change in appearance of a folder icon, whilst targeted, is almost invisible

2022-03-09 Thread Graham Perrin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451340

Bug ID: 451340
Summary: Dolphin drag-and-drop: the change in appearance of a
folder icon, whilst targeted, is almost invisible
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Other
   URL: https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/559421
OS: FreeBSD
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: accessibility, reproducible, usability
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: grahamper...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---
 Flags: Usability+

SUMMARY

Confusion can arise from there being no good visual confirmation of the folder
that is to be targeted for a drop.

Dolphin will benefit from a visual hint that is _properly_ visible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Breeze Light colours (the default)
2. details view mode
3. open a tab to a directory with some files and a tree of subdirectories
4. disclose (expand) the tree
5. split view
6. in the left pane, select files
7. drag
8. in the right pane, without dropping, hover over one subdirectory, then
another

OBSERVED RESULT

9. the targeted directory becomes _less_ visible

   * marginally decreased contrast

   * the dark outline of the folder icon becomes marginally less dark

EXPECTED RESULT

9. the targeted directory should become _more_ visible, should be
_distinguished_

   * the one folder icon should be significantly, unmistakably
  different from other folder icons

   * consider a change of colour from light to dark for
the fill within the outline of the folder icon.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: FreeBSD 14.0
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 14.0-CURRENT (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Memory: 15.9 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD TURKS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The (looping animated GIF) screen recording at
 demonstrates this bug.

Identification of the bug followed a period of disorientation, during which the
change in appearance of targeted folder icons was – effectively – entirely
invisible to the end user (the topic began at
).

right way to go about it. Either way, there is more information to be found in

It was an issue in the stack somewhere for KDE Neon. After some
kind of packages called libxcursor and wayland something was updated, the issue
was resolved.

Issue can be closed and marked as solved.

At least someone should update the README, TODO (20 years old!), and
https://apps.kde.org/kmag/ to say "kmag does not work on Wayland yet".

I couldn't find an alternative. The gnome-mag binary seems unavailable, I think
it became a Gnome shell service. There's a System Settings > Desktop Effects >
Magnifier effect, but I couldn't get it to work in Wayland.

One workaround is to take a screenshot with Spectacle. Maybe there's a way to
use something like OBS to capture your screen and monitor a zoomed-in portion
of it.
