Hi all,

Thank you for your feedback. I interpret this feedback as reporting 2 bugs: 1.
notification syncing, and 2. KDE Connect iOS not working when in the
background.

1. there are no public APIs that apps are allowed to use to read your
notifications or all of your messages provided by Apple, so there's a high
chance we can't provide a fully functional notifications plugin, but we'll try
our best to see what can be achieved.
2. please see my response here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447195. In
short, we are hoping to add it in the future, but it's not possible right now.

KDE Connect iOS is still in the early development phase and there are many
things that remain to be implemented. We'll soon add a "features list" to the
app (https://invent.kde.org/network/kdeconnect-ios/-/merge_requests/44) to
better communicate which features are available and hopefully prevent confusion
in the future.

I have uploaded the requested logs split into 4 different files due to the
upload size limit. I first let it cycle around 3 times and then changed the
resolution of the broken monitor to 1080p which made it work normally. This
change can be seen in part 3 of the logs on line 21718. I then changed it back
to 1440p which made it start cycling again. This change can be seen in part 4
of the logs on line 32397.

Hi,

Due to the restrictions set by Apple, TestFlight can only allow up to 10,000
testers to test a single application. We are, however, regularly removing
testers that are on older, unavailable builds (again, another restriction set
by Apple is that each version is only available for 90 days). So please check
back regularly to see if additional spots are available.

We are also in the process of preparing to release KDE Connect iOS on the Apple
App Store so there won't be any more restrictions on how many people can
download the app, but we need a little more time to figure out some legal stuff
and fix some critical bugs that are impacting a large number of testers.

[plasmashell] [Bug 450119] Plasma slow/freezes on resume - possible memory leak?

2022-03-19 Thread YAFU
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450119

Hello.

Distro: KDE Neon user edition (Updated - X11)
Nvidia GTX 960 - 510.54

I have the same kind of problem as the user who opened the report and it also
started happening from about the same date.
Actually, KDE/Plasma has always given me some kind of problems when resuming
from suspend mode, whether related to Kwin and effects and compositing
problems, or Plasma slowness issues and plasmashell incremental memory usage
every time I resume from suspend mode (needed to kill and restart plasmashell).
But these kinds of problems were not as frequent as the one that started
happening about a month ago. Now the problem occurs about 1 out of 3 times
wehen resume from suspend mode. Killing plasmashell and restarting the process
fixes the problem (but it's very annoying to have to do this so frequently)

a Brazillian Linux Youtuber in his last review of Neon:
https://youtu.be/TWqQi4wj8Q0?t=285 (There are automatic English subtitles).

I'll be changing the status to confirmed since there is enough evidence this is
not an isolated problem.

2022-03-19 Thread Rob
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450148

You are quite right. I experimented a little with this today. Yes they were
"save" and "save as" buttons. But yeah, you are right, it did ask twice on my
Mac about overwriting existing files. I also tested on Linux and it did the
same. So if the file browser does it, there is really no need to do it again.
So yeah I just removed that. But in a similar light, there really is no need
to have two buttons. so I just made a change to leave just one button that
will have the save as functionality but will select the last file opened or
saved so you can overwrite. That will almost work just like the save button
did before, with the added advantage that you have to think for a minute about
whether you want to overwrite it or save with a different name, so I think that
is a benefit actually.

Autoloading is also not a bad idea, let me think about that. That might be a
plus because then you could just start up kstars and start the automatic
alignment routine.

screenshot of "installed" cursor themes

Cursor themes installed with Discover do not work. The preview shows the
default cursors. Attempting to use it has no effect. If you leave the cursor
settings screen and come back, the theme you installed is no longer present,
but discover still thinks it is installed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open settings -> appearance -> cursor
2. Click "get new cursors"
3. Install any cursor theme.
4. Go back to the settings window where the new theme will appear, but the
preview will only show the default cursors (see attached screenshot).
5. Try to use the new theme (nothing happens).
6. Switch to a different page of the settings eg "Icons" and then switch back
to cursors (the theme you just installed no longer appears)
7. Click "get new cursors" again and go to the theme you installed (Discover
thinks it is already installed)

OBSERVED RESULT
It isn't possible to use a custom cursor theme installed with Discover.

EXPECTED RESULT
Installing a cursor theme with Discover should allow you to use it immediately.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Tested on KDE Neon user, testing, and developer using install images downloaded
on the day of bug reporting. Also verified that the problem still happens after
installing, rebooting into the install, and installing all available updates.

In details view, clicking on the expander arrows no longer works. If you turn

With selection indicators on, there is only like a one pixel wide area to the

Also, clicking on the selection indicators doesn't work either, which has
probably the same root cause.

[kwin] [Bug 451703] New: Adaptive sync keeps resetting to Automatic

OS: Linux

The Adaptive sync setting, under System Settings -> Display and Monitor, keeps
resetting back to Automatic (the default) when the monitor is turned off or
goes to sleep.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Change "Adaptive sync" to "Never" in System Settings and click Apply (then
Keep).
2. Turn off the monitor, or let power saving put it to sleep
3. Turn on the monitor, or wake it up

OBSERVED RESULT

The "Adaptive sync" setting is set back to Automatic.

EXPECTED RESULT

The "Adaptive sync" setting stays on Never.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian Linux kernel version 5.16.12
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I'm using a Radeon RX 580 with the amdgpu kernel driver, with an LG 27GP850
monitor connected via Display Port. Because of what seems to be bug #451386,
Adaptive sync causes KWin-Wayland to seize up for me when the display is turned
off or goes to sleep. I set Adaptive sync to Never which seems to partially
work around the issue, letting KWin-Wayland remain functional when the monitor
is turned off and back on (although bug #451702 prevents this from being a full
workaround), but I found it keeps getting reset back to Automatic afterward.

[kwin] [Bug 451702] New: Various KDE apps lock up with 100% CPU usage when monitor powers off

SUMMARY

See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

When the monitor is turned off with its power button, or the energy saver puts
the screen to sleep, various KDE-based apps become unresponsive and jump to
100% CPU use (which in turn causes my CPU fan to rev up). When the monitor is
turned back on and I try to focus the affected apps, it grays out and puts
"(Not Responding)" in the titlebar. No amount of waiting seems to let them come
back, although I can click the X on the titlebar and it'll close after a
moment.

Apps I know this occurs with are Konversation, KMail, Konsole, and Akregator,
but I certainly haven't done extensive testing to know what other apps are or
aren't affected. I do know Pale Moon and Pidgin (non-KDE apps) are not
affected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start some KDE apps.
2. Turn off the monitor, or let the power saving put the monitor to sleep.
3. Turn on the monitor.

OBSERVED RESULT

The aforementioned apps are unresponsive with htop showing them taking 100% CPU
time.

EXPECTED RESULT

The apps continue to work normally.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian Linux kernel version 5.16.12, plasma-desktop package
version 5.24.3-1
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This only started happening when I got my new monitor, and seems to only happen
under Wayland. The apps remain responsive with normal CPU use when the monitor
turns off with X11. I don't know if it's related to bug #451386 at all, but
both issues started for me at the same time, and both only happen with Wayland.

I'm using a Radeon RX 580 and the amdgpu kernel driver, with an LG 27GP850
monitor connected via Display Port. My old monitor, which everything worked
fine with, was a Samsung SyncMaster T24B350 connected via HDMI.

[kwin] [Bug 451591] [kwin/display configuration] Multiple monitors with same name cause unintentional behavior

2022-03-19 Thread Parker Reed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451591

Thanks to a wonderful contributor over on Reddit, finally realized what exposed
this issue.

My custom EDID setup was already in place when this started. The DisplayPort
dock that I have will not drive to monitors at the full refresh rate. So I
already had a custom EDID with a single mode single refresh rate set for both
of those. Guess which two those were, both portrait.

I used a basic EDID generator for the mode and refresh rate which doesn't set a
serial number. On top of that I used the same file for both of them in the
kernel command line, so to the system they were essentially the same monitor
with an nulled out serial.

My "solution" of creating to EDID with different names worked because Plasma
then have something to differentiate them by even with a blank serial.

Wayland with the same EDID works as it already names them as "unknown
" programmatically.

For the X11 issue at hand, I get that it was my EDID with the same nulled
serial causing the issue. I know those get used a lot so probably not the first
to run into it. Will be interesting to see if there's anything that can be done
there.

Thanks.

Possibly relevant, both of my monitors are connected via Displayport. They both
support Freesync, however neither had it enabled initially. Now, one has it
enabled., but not the other. I also tested with both having it enabled, but it
caused one of them to flicker (suspect a problem with that monitor, not KDE) so
I disabled it.

I also have a Valve Index connected to the system via Displayport, if that is
relevant.

[korganizer] [Bug 451700] New: Holidays missing in month view for certain "Working Period" settings

2022-03-19 Thread Michael Büker
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451700

Bug ID: 451700
Summary: Holidays missing in month view for certain "Working
Period" settings
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.18.1
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: monthview
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@michael-bueker.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Any selected holidays are _missing_ in the month view for all those times which
are defined as "Working Period" in the "Time and Date" settings.

In other words: The month view only shows holidays if they occur on days which
are _not_ a "Working Period" per "Time and Date" settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In Settings -> Time and Date -> Holidays, choose some Holidays (tested for
de_de).
2. In the month view, holidays will appear as expected.
3. In Settings -> Time and Date -> Working Period, disable "Exclude holidays".
4. In the month view, all holidays on weekdays will be missing.
5. In Settings -> Time and Date -> Working Period, additionally include
Saturdays and Sundays as Working Period.
6. In the month view, all holidays will be missing.

OBSERVED RESULT
The month view shows holidays if (and only if) they fall outside of the defined
"Working Period", which can be the case for two reasons:
a) either "Exclude holidays" is activated, or
b) the corresponding weekday is disabled in the "Working Period" definition.

EXPECTED RESULT
The month view should always show all selected holidays, regardless of the
"Working Period" definition.

Screenshot showing accent colors lightening Dolphin's folder icon and darkening
menu background

SUMMARY
On Breeze Light/Classic color schemes, if I pick an accent color, then hover a
Qt Widgets menu item, the background is *darker* than the accent color (making
black text unreadable), rather than lighter with accent color off.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open System Settings to Colors, and pick Breeze Light or Classic.
2. Pick any accent color, and click Apply.
3. Open Konsole. (You can also open it before changing accent colors. Other
apps like KWrite or Dolphin work too.)
4. In Konsole, hover a menu item.

OBSERVED RESULT
The menu item has a dark colored background behind black text.

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu item has a light colored background behind black text.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux ARM
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 4 × Apple M1 Firestorm, 4 × Apple M1 Icestorm
Memory: 7.4 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: llvmpipe

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The bug also happens on x86 hardware.
Additionally I feel *all* of the accent colors are too light, making light text
harder to read compared to turning off accent color and using Breeze's default
selection blue. Picking a custom darker accent color to make light text easier
to read makes dark text even harder to read, due to this bug.

I am not reporting a bug!

This is just me being curious. I have a similar problem Mikkel Kludder, many of
my images have hierarchical keywords in IPTC. Everytime I read their metadata I
end up with multiple copies of the same keyword in different parts of my
hierarchy. All I did was consolidate one of these keywords on 41 images.
Digikam is now running a process titled "Thumbnails", which has stopped me
doing anything for several minutes. What is this process actually doing? These
images already have thumbnails.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Change Tags on several files
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Digikam displays a message to show that it haas written the keywords, but the
process indicator remains active and clicking on its up arrow shows that it is
processing Thumbnails. No other actions are allowed until all processes have
finished.

EXPECTED RESULT
Digikam writes metadata and is then ready to perform another task.
BTW The display telling one to wait until tasks have finished is inconsistent.
It is possible to change tags on images, but not possible to move, or merge
tags.

[kwin] [Bug 451386] Black Screen with Movable Cursor after Screens Resume from Sleep

Chris changed:

I'm having a similar issue. When the display goes to sleep or I turn off the
monitor, some KDE processes (konversation, kmail, akregator, etc) lock up with
100% CPU utilization, and when I wake/turn on the monitor, I just get a blank
screen with a cursor. If I move the cursor, the screen will flicker with dirty
contents and leave mouse trails all over the place. Blindly typing in my
password apparently does nothing. I have found that I can kill the user
(switching to a different tty, e.g. ctrl+alt+f2, kill kwin_wayland and various
other processes running as the user) and it'll bring me back to the login
screen where I can log back in and use the system again. Better than a full
reboot, but hardly makes for a usable system whenever the monitor is turned
off.

I have also found that if I set Adaptive sync to Never in System Settings ->
Display and Monitor, I can turn off the monitor and turn it back on and keep
KWin-Wayland running properly. However the same KDE processes will still lock
up with 100% CPU utilization (they become unresponsive and need to be
closed/restarted), and the Adaptive sync setting resets to Automatic.

Interestingly, this only started when I got a new monitor. I had an old
hand-me-down Samsung monitor connected via HDMI, and never had any issues when
the display went to sleep or I turned off the monitor. But once I replaced it
with a newer LG 27GP850 monitor connected via Display Port, these issues
started.

I'm using Debian Unstable with kde-wayland 5.24.3-1.

I don't use Plasma but I use qt5ct to theme qt/kde applications.

An issue I have is that when I double click an opened image to make it

from the dark theme I configured to a light theme. Restarting Gwenview
restores the theme.

This is probably out of scope but I'm posting in case it leads to some actual

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451628

OK I will try 7.7.0.
I don’t know how to recreate the problem, but Mariadb came up with the same
message when I deleted what I thought were the log files.
Thanks
Steve

Git commit 41c36df896f81e8ae2177e1c8160655a1886b052 by Albert Astals Cid, on
behalf of Oswald Buddenhagen.
Committed on 19/03/2022 at 17:38.
Pushed by aacid into branch 'master'.

make it possible to disable tiny breaks

when (ab-)using rsibreak for other purposes, having two break type is
not necessarily helpful.

Hi, depending on the system, Kate uses via sonnet various spellcheckers like
hunspell or aspell.

If you want to have the dictionary updated, please report bugs to these
projects, we can't forward such stuff for you, sorry, that is out of scope.

[kalendar] [Bug 451692] Changing the size

2022-03-19 Thread Claudio Cambra
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451692

Could you be more specific? It is unclear which of Kalendar's views you are
referring to or which changes you would like to see to "calendar sizes"

[kalendar] [Bug 451692] New: Changing the size

2022-03-19 Thread JOnN
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451692

Bug ID: 451692
   Summary: Changing the size
   Product: kalendar
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: claudio.cam...@gmail.com
  Reporter: jony@bk.ru
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

Add the ability to set calendar sizes. Rework it somehow, remove meaningless
indents between dates. Now the calendar looks very bulky and occupies 1/3 of
the fullhd screen * horizontally if you enable events in the settings. It looks
very strange.
I see a way out to completely redesign the calendar style or add some
customizable sizes

[kde] [Bug 451691] New: Weather widget, expand functionality

2022-03-19 Thread JOnN

Bug ID: 451691
   Summary: Weather widget, expand functionality

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Kernel Version: 5.16.14-1-MANJARO (64-bit)

I propose to increase the number of days displayed in the weather widget, in
weather stations wetter and BBC, with the ability to customize (optional). For
example: the standard setting is 3 days, the second parameter is 7 days

If you select a weather source wetter.com, then the number of degrees will not
be displayed next to the widget icon, although this parameter is set in the
settings. When using the BBC weather station, the error is not observed
