Irritating indeed, but you can avoid having to restart the whole computer with
just restarting kded5
Personally I kill the process and start kded5 with kstart5, but I'm not sure if
this is the "correct" method or not
but it seemingly works without any negative effects

This can be done via the plugin, but it is unlikely any of the core devs will
do it anytime soon. If you want it early, maybe give it a try yourself.

[kdenlive] [Bug 454252] New: Consistent crash on Create Folder

2022-05-22 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454252

Bug ID: 454252
   Summary: Consistent crash on Create Folder
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 22.04.1
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: th...@orcon.net.nz
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 149130
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149130=edit
Screenshot

SUMMARY

Kdenlive crashes consistently when I click on Create Folder in the project
browser. It also crashes when I try to open a project created with 21.12.3
(maybe because the project has subfolders?)

Note, I have many missing icons as can be seen in the screenshot. Not sure if
that is related.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. run ./kdenlive-22.04.0-1-x86_x64.AppImage
2. Click on Create Folder in project browser.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
kdenlive crashes immediately

EXPECTED RESULT
Folder created with no crash

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS

This problem is still not solved in today's nightly release. I have found some
new idiosyncrasies.
1. The value range of RGB is sometimes (0-1) and sometimes (0-65535). Rarely
does it appear (0-255)
2. The pipette usually can't absorb the color. Sometimes it can, but after I
click "OK" the color in the gradient will become black.

I can hardly make gradients now ..

It's Shar's Smart Starfinder Character Sheet. I'll also add the file itself in

initially present as I've just been using Brave in the meantime while this gets
worked out, which works as expected.

   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

demonstration of the bug

SUMMARY
When using the window operations menu (alt+f3 on any window by default) on
wayland, after you highlight something by hovering over it, it doesn't stop
highlighting. And when you open the alt+f3 menu for the second time, effects
like transparency+blur stop working.

Video of the bug is attached

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Be on plasma wayland session
2. open a window
3. press alt+f3 or open the window operations menu some other way. Hover over
the items
4. Close menu and reopen again

OBSERVED RESULT
After you stop hovering over an item, it stays highlighted. And after reopening
the menu, it stays highlighted. From what i can tell, it also looks like
transparency and blur stop working on the menu.

EXPECTED RESULT
Moving your mouse off one of the options should make it not stay highlighted.
Transparency and blur both should stay working when reopening the menu

[dolphin] [Bug 454250] New: Places panel highlight text does not respect ChangeSelectionColor=false

2022-05-22 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454250

Bug ID: 454250
   Summary: Places panel highlight text does not respect
ChangeSelectionColor=false
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 22.04.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 149126
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149126=edit
the view element incorrectly turns black when focus is lost

SUMMARY
For color schemes with ChangeSelectionColor=false, Dolphin's places view now
seems to change the highlighted text color as if ChangeSelectionColor were set
to false. In the case of a light theme, with white text for highlights, losing
focus causes the text to become black, despite the highlight color remaining
the same.

This probably is more generic than the Dolphin application and is likely tied
to that type of view in general.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Choose a color scheme with ChangeSelectionColor=false (I chose Willow Light)
2. Open Dolphin with an open places view and select an item in it
3. Lose focus on the places pane or the window (e.g. click into the main view,
open kickoff)

OBSERVED RESULT
Text of selected item becomes black

EXPECTED RESULT
Text should stay white as the highlight is not being washed out. e.g., like
system settings

[frameworks-kded] [Bug 453280] kded5 leaks X-Window connections: Maximum number of clients reached

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=453280

--- Comment #7 from Mikiya Okuno  ---
I also encounter the same problem. By turning off, and on the monitor display,
6 sessions leak. I check the session by the following command as in the link in
the Raman Gupta's comment:

$ sudo ss -x src "*/tmp/.X11-unix/*" | grep -Eo "[0-9]+\s*$" | while read port;
do sudo ss -p -x | grep -w $port | grep -v X11-unix ; done | grep -Eo '".+"' |
sort | uniq -c | sort -rn
106 "kded5"
 14 "VirtualBoxVM"
  6 "dbus-launch"
  4 "konsole"
  3 "slack"
  2 "kwin_x11"
... skip ...

Disconnecting/connecting an HDMI cable also leak 6 sessions. I connect an HDMI
cable directly to my video card.

The problem is really irritating. I have to restart my machine every time when
the session is running out. Since the maximum number of X11 sessions available
is 256, the session runs out by 42 monitor power cycles at maximum. Other
applications also open X11 sessions, so it runs out even earlier.

[kate] [Bug 454247] New: Cannot override / add to lsp settings in .kateproject

2022-05-22 Thread rob . roland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454247

Bug ID: 454247
   Summary: Cannot override / add to lsp settings in .kateproject
   Product: kate
   Version: 21.12.2
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: rob.rol...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I've added the Ada Language Server to my User Server Settings:

```
{
"servers": {
"ada": {
"command": ["ada_language_server"],
"root": "",
"url": "https://github.com/AdaCore/ada_language_server;,
"highlightingModeRegex": "^Ada$"
}
}
}
```

But when I attempt to set the projectFile setting in the .kateproject, nothing
seems to happen:

```
{
"name": "my project",
"lspclient": {
"ada": {
"settings": {
"ada": {
"projectFile": "plaidcl.gpr",
"enableIndexing": true
}
}
}
}
}
```

If I place that `settings` object inside the User Server Settings, it uses
projectFile and sends it via a `workspace/didChangeConfiguration` message.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

See above configuration snippets.

OBSERVED RESULT

`workspace/didChangeConfiguration` message does not fire upon opening a source
file within the project.

EXPECTED RESULT

`workspace/didChangeConfiguration` should fire, sending the settings from the
.kateproject file.

Visual representation of when a user might want to exit overview by swiping up

SUMMARY
The new 1:1 gestures in 5.25 beta are intuitive when launching overview and
desktop grid, but they do not follow expected behaviour to exit these effects.
For example, one would expect a four-finger swipe up when inside overview to
exit the effect, as well as a four-finger swipe down from desktop grid to
return to the desktop.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open overview with four-finger swipe down
2. Try to exit the effect by four-finger swipe the opposite direction
3. Have desktop grid appear instead

[plasmashell] [Bug 454245] New: Pop-ups stealing clicks

2022-05-22 Thread meso5
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454245

Bug ID: 454245
   Summary: Pop-ups stealing clicks

  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

  Reporter: me...@gmx.com
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

It is incredibly annoying when you click on something and a pop-up appears out
of nowhere in precisely the wrong place stealing the mouse click. Particularly
frustrating when you know you just OKed something but you don't know what
because the pop-up disappeared immediately. It doesn't happen often but when it
does it can be very dangerous too. It is surprising it can still happen in
every environment I am aware of, but I think KDE could be the first DE to do
the sensible thing: A clickable element shouldn't be clickable until it is
reasonably possible for a human being to have clicked on it on purpose. Clicks
that are faster than this are either stolen clicks or robo-clicks. One idea is
to grey-out the buttons for a fraction of a second before they become really
clickable. If this takes a fraction of a second, in the vast majority of cases
that a pop-up appears the user won't even know this delay was injected. In the
spirit of KDE this could be made optional.

I tried to dig into kwin, and the conclusion is that currently it's almost
impossible to implement the feature on Wayland because an effect can't send a

As of current master (commit 5afaa035d8e46d1dcdd351f86b5b7e83f3631bf6) it's
impossible to save YCbCr TIFF files. Even when accounting for the given color

[Oxygen] [Bug 454238] New: Constantly updated text flickers with oxygen widget style if scaling enabled.

2022-05-22 Thread petrk
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454238

Bug ID: 454238
   Summary: Constantly updated text flickers with oxygen widget
style if scaling enabled.
   Product: Oxygen
   Version: 5.24.90
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR

demo

SUMMARY
I am using a 14 inch laptop with 1080p screen, no scaling makes everything tiny
so I increased scaling to 125%, but it appears to cause font hop up and down
very slightly.

Breeze, Fusion and MS 9x styles are not affected

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set scaling to 125%, haven't tried higher values, apart from 100%. Make sure
that widget theme is set to Oxygen.
2. Open ksysguard switch to tab with graphs.
3. Updated numbers flicker on my system.

OBSERVED RESULT
Flickering text, video attached below.

EXPECTED RESULT
No eyesore.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I tested with default fonts config (Noto), recorded with Ubuntu fonts.
It happens to me on Xorg, but confirmed with wayland just in case.

Kinda sucks that Oxygen fell out of favor, I am not a big fan of flat theming.

I don't know exactly what you expect from us in this bug report.
A documentation of the digiKam database scheme can be found here:

https://invent.kde.org/graphics/digikam/-/blob/master/project/documents/DBSCHEMA.ODS

Otherwise it will probably be difficult to import an Access database and is
probably out of scope for us.

[konsole] [Bug 452593] The get new button in konsole shows behind the whole app and can't be interacted with searching does nothing

2022-05-22 Thread David Edmundson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452593

--- Comment #7 from David Edmundson  ---
Issue is  QGuiApplicationPrivate::showModalWindow

it marks every other non-modal window as blocked, including new windows.

when we focus the new dialog at a wayland/X level Qt gets it, but in it's own
internal dispatching ignores that and sends it to the modal window

Qt is smart enough to handle child windows appropriately, but only if it knows
about them. Having a transient parent should take care of this. We should have
this anyway as that will fix some window placement bugs.

Lazy fix:

Should introduce a setTransientParent public API call? Or take the window in
the ctor? Relying on the current focus is a bit horrible.

[krita] [Bug 454198] Krita Layer Docker.dll crash

2022-05-22 Thread Lynx3d
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454198

--- Comment #2 from Lynx3d  ---
Uh okay this crash sure is hard to reproduce here, I was lucky the first one
happened within seconds, took me hours to get another one.

Unfortunately, none of my asserts triggered, but reading through the code,
something sure looks odd to me. Access to `KisBaseNode::Private::properties`
doesn't seem to be protected at all from concurrent access, but they are
manipulated by the strokes system from what I understand, which means it IS
concurrent to the UI thread.

If that's correct, it's only a matter of time until things go wrong, and
kinetic scrolling which constantly paints the layers docker just greatly
increases the likeliness that this happens.
