[konsole] [Bug 482628] ALT+F activates "find" in the toolbar

Removing "Find" from the toolbar doesn't seem to work, as it causes ALT+F to be
remapped to the "File" menu. I agree with @Kunshan Wang in that Konsole should
/never/ use ALT or CTRL accelerator keys, and should instead rebind them to
something else, just like it already does with most CTRL keybindings (it
rebinds them to CTRL+ALT).

[kwin] [Bug 483411] KWin Wayland with Nvidia leads to weird shuttering for certain proton game (逆転裁判456 or Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy)

2024-03-15 Thread Qu Wenruo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483411

Just a final question.

My laptop has two USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode, one is wired to AMD iGPU,
the other wired to Nvidia dGPU.
And all my previous report is using that Nvidia dGPU to render and output
everything.

However today I switched to go back using that USB-C port wired to AMD iGPU,
and the output and KWin are all handled by AMD iGPU
(nvidia-smi shows nothing when idle at desktop).

Then if I run the game again, the game shows up in nvidia-smi, so I believe
it's rendered by NVidia dGPU but output still handled by iGPU (hybrid).
In that case I also see no shuttering at all.

Does the regressed NVidia closed-source bug can also explain this observation?

[kwin] [Bug 483651] Edge barrier/corner barrier makes it almost impossible to move the mouse between diagonally placed screens

I mainly use this arrangement when I'm testing multi-monitor behavior, but it
is still a valid configuration. Unless this configuration is prohibited in the
Display Configuration KCM, we should account for this layout.

> Note that diagonal movement should still be possible with 3 or 4 displays
> arranged around a shared corner, as long as the movement avoids that shared
> corner.

Needing to avoid a shared corner doesn't seem like good behavior to me. It's
something that has to be discovered through trial and error and doesn't have a
clear reason for working that way.

Note, when I say only Dolphin custom-icon entries/files/directories/folders
display, I don't mean chosen from KDE's available (I did some but they don't
display) rather than only images/icons that have previews or I manually added
such as to /usr/share/pixmaps (such as you can see Mount Olympus in my Dolphin
information panel was the last image I hovered over, and similarly, only
directories/folders I added my own images for custom icons display those as
icons, you can see in the folders panel).

I agree set 'RESOLVED > WORKSFORME' despite don't consider it resolved, but
unless there will be KDE Neon long-term serivce (LTS) release, we're waiting
before using KDE Plasma 6 (KDEP6) and switched back to GNU/Linux Mint or might
use Kubuntu for family PCs... lately most have hardware problems we must fix
before I consider testinf KDEP6 later.

[kde] [Bug 483719] New: display problems (no icons, etc.)

2024-03-15 Thread David Chmelik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483719

Bug ID: 483719
Summary: display problems (no icons, etc.)
Classification: I don't know
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: dchme...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 167290
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167290=edit
display problems screenshot

SUMMARY
On our KDE Plasma 5 (KDEP5) personal computers (PCs) icons no longer display on
toolbars nor for preset/'places' (just custom) Dolphin
entries/files/directories/folders--see screenshot--and a Konsole display
problem (you can see but I should report separately next) is cursor & selection
are offset from actual text location.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run standard programs like Konsole, Dolphin, KATE.
2. Edit toolbars to set 'text under icons' (or any icons).
3. Look for error/missing display aspects.

OBSERVED RESULT
There are no icons (screenshot Dolphin directory/folder shown is symbolic link
to user-owned /user/share/doc normally showing all as directory/folder icons)
with exception of Dolphin custom-icon entries/files/directories/folders. You
can also see on Konsole (I don't use toolbars but tested and no longer have
icons) a display problem is cursor & selection are offset from actual text
position... in screenshot Konsole I didn't press spaces, but initially and when
I type, cursor is at least a tab's length past actual text location, and when I
select text, highlighted range is similarly offset (confusing/impossible to
copy correctly). All this persists on updates & reboots, though
seemingly-universal display problem is no standard icons; I should report
Konsole text display problem separately.

EXPECTED RESULT
Display normally (icons).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
UNIX/GNU/Linux/KDE Plasma: GNU/Linux Mint 21.3 (XFCE variant)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

HARDWARE
SSD: OS (after KDE Neon 6, quick-formatted for GNU/Linux Mint 21.3)
HDD: /home (kept from KDE Neon 6 but deleted KDE configuration)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We had KDE Neon 6 which critically broke on 2/3 our family PCs (one unusable)
and someone on Libera IRC #kde said Neon is 'almost rolling release' so we
switched back to Mint with same /home hard disc drives (HDDs). I deleted
~/.kde , KDE files/directories/folders in ~/.config , ~/.local/share , and was
extremely thorough (think I got all not starting with k)--deleted much I didn't
need to--only stuff I know is left.
We prefer Oxygen (detailed desktop-oriented) over Breeze
(over-simple/-dull pad/tab(let)-oriented) and use other themes (GTK Clearlooks*
& Greybird*) for specific settings (colours, icons/widgets) so don't know
avoiding Breeze has to do with this... where Breeze is better for things (like
newer startup/loading screen style) we occasionally use it.
There's a small chance I missed deleting some configuration and--since
reinstall apparently 'quick formatted'--small chance some package/theme data
was leftover on OS' solid state drives (SSD)... wondering if we need to zero
SSDs or delete more configuration...

Can we somehow make a special case like the following pseodocode?

if (translation provided == "ADF Duplex")

end

This will really improve the out-of-the box scanning experience a lot, and this
will help the whole GNU/Linux ecosystem, not just KDE.

I'm currently experiencing a similar issue, although it could also be related
to switching monitors as well. However, my panel is fine. But my desktop is
not!

When the desktop itself is focused and I right-click on it, everything is fine.
But when a window is focused, right-clicking the desktop causes the menu to
appear.

After restarting the shell, it was indeed fixed. Switching back and forth again
causes it to reappear.

2024-03-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483176

--- Comment #4 from mpeter.68...@simplelogin.co ---
After running the 2 commands, typing both the @ and the # characters work as
expected!
However if I start Konsole as `konsole.exe -platform windows:altgr`, the above
characters work as expected even without running the bind commands! To test
this I have restarted the WSL environment, it seems the effect of the `bind`
commands are somehow persisted across Konsole processes.

Now this really makes a difference! :)

For now I have created a `qt.conf` file besides konsole.exe with the following
content, so that Konsole always starts this way.
```
[Platforms]
WindowsArguments = altgr
```

Unless theres a better solution, you could consider shipping such a file in the
windows release, with the installer and portable archives.

Git commit 24610e67a339d5bce637e060debb6a401026d70a by Nate Graham, on behalf
of Harald Sitter.
Committed on 16/03/2024 at 02:25.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'Plasma/6.0'.

keyboard_layout: always expose dbus interface

our plasmoid only listens to signals when the interface was found.
also when switching from 2 to 1 layout we'd emit a signal that the
layouts changed but then we'd throw away our interface leaving
the client wondering what happened to us (and consequently
printing warnings because our service wasn't found)

this specifically resulted in the plasmoid not getting layout event
changes when switching from 1 to >1

If you remove "navigationPanelEnabled" in ~/.config/plasmamobilerc and reboot,
does it fix itself?

I think this was a remnant of the gesture-only mode, I missed removing some
settings it affects.

I just ran some commands briefly to see if I could connect Bluetooth via
terminal. I have not done this so it was a quick test.

Bluetooth does not work. Clicking "Enable" button does nothing, the toggles
slide back and fourth but it doesn't have any effect either. Configuration does
nothing either. System has a Bluetooth built into WiFi module & I also have a
dedicated dongle as well, which is using Passthrough for Emulator.

2024-03-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 483716
Summary: Until you move the mouse, there's an extra close
button on the last focused program displayed in the
Task Switcher UI
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 6.0.2
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: tabbox
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: fi...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have more than one program open
2. Using the default Task Switcher, and without moving the mouse at all, switch
between them by pressing Alt+Tab, don't let go of Alt, and look at the Task
Switcher UI

OBSERVED RESULT
Two close buttons are visible, one on the newly focused program (the
highlighted one in the Task Switcher), and one on the previously (i.e. before
Alt+Tab) focused program.

EXPECTED RESULT
Only the highlighted entry in the Task Switcher should have a close button, as
well as the program entry under the mouse, if the mouse is over an entry. This
is the behaviour after the mouse is moved while the Task Switcher UI is still
visible.

[yakuake] [Bug 483714] New: Focus stays on old terminal

2024-03-15 Thread Angel Docampo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483714

Bug ID: 483714
Summary: Focus stays on old terminal
Classification: Applications
   Product: yakuake
   Version: 24.02.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: docampo.an...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Since the latest update, I noticed when I split a terminal (vertically or
horizontally), focus remain on the original terminal, and not in the new
spawned one.

If I hide and show yakuake again, then, the focus goes to the new splitted
terminal, but if I split the terminal again, then I lose the focus completely,
and I have to point it with the mouse (or hide and show the terminal once again
to regain focus on the new opened terminal).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open yakuake
2. split a terminal
3. focus remains on the first terminal, not in the new one
-- don't do nothing yet
4. hide yakuake
5. show it again
6. focus now is in the newest terminal split
-- still don't do nothing
7. split the terminal again
8. now there is no terminal focused at all, you need to a) grab your mouse and
point it, b) switch focus with your hotkeys, or c) hide and show yakuake once
again.
9. now, every time you split your terminal, the focus is lost.

EXPECTED RESULT
When a terminal is split, focused split terminal should be the newest one.
Besides, hiding and showing the terminal should not lose the focus at all, nor
losing it when new splitting are done.

After some discussion in the VDG chat, the current proposal is to disable the
corner barrier (and just use the edge barrier settings) when the corner has a
neighboring screen in the direction of the corner.

Another issue is that even when the corner barrier is disabled, it's more
difficult to cross corners than edges. I think I know what is going on there
and can fix things.
