[krita] [Bug 395265] Rendering the same animation at 48 fps makes the animation play faster and smoother than rendering at 60 fps

That is a limitation on gif decoders, most won't playback at more than 50fps!
You can see the behaviour here
https://web.archive.org/web/20170201034945/http://blog.fenrir-inc.com/us/2012/02/theyre-different-how-to-match-the-animation-rate-of-gif-files-accross-browsers.html

My suggestion would be to render the frames to images and apply a more complex
ffmpeg filter. If all you want is double the speed render the animation frames
as images and try:

Create a palette
ffmpeg -r 60 -start_number 0 -i myanim_%04d.png -vf palettegen -y mypalette.png

Make gif
ffmpeg -r 60 -i myanim_%04d.png -i mypalette.png -lavfi
"fps=30[x];[x][1:v]paletteuse" -y output.gif

Created attachment 113330
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=113330=edit
Show loading status of original and incremental version

I can reproduce this bug in master

When it happens the file never shows the content during that session. It
happens apparently randomly but only with the file provided. The screen shot
shows the original file on the right. any attempt to open that file will result
in a solo background.

Saving an incremental version, closing the file and opening the new incremented
version makes the strokes show up normally.

To try and reproduce on master:
1. Open Krita
2. Open file
3. if file opened correcly
4. close krita inmediatly with Ctrl+Q
5. repeat from step 1

NOTES: If the new file dialog is shown it is less likely to occur (but since is
random its not a given)

If the bug is triggered and the incremental version was generated. Opening the
incremental version in the same session will always show. But the original file
fails always

When creating the incremental version console ouputs
krita.lib.store: KoStore: Duplicate filename "unnamed/layers/"
krita.lib.store: KoStore: Duplicate filename "unnamed/layers/.defaultpixel"

It might or not be related, but saving another incremental version, does not
produce those messagess.

Hi!

I'm on OSX 10.13.5, I'm sorry I have no problems related to the cursor
disapearing on tool selection no matter how many times I changed tools. is
there someting in particular you were doing?.

The cursor getting stuck in another "icon" has been reported (zoom icon,
windowresizing icon and arrow icon", it seems to be related to a missing event,
but we haven't find any time to fix it yet. the original bug report is here

This is probably one of the reasons GIMP made "Save" and "Save As" XCF
exclusive and other formats can only be saved using export. This made imposible
to loose work by not saving on this scenario of save/close.

It is confusing to have, after a Save As PNG, all layers and masks. It gives
the false idea that you are keeping your changes on every save. The warning can
be easily missed as the design is not very calling, far from the "ok" button,
and blended in the dialog.

Victor has made some good points. I think krita could protect the user a little
more on this. It is not that hard to forget on a work session that you changed
the format after a Save As, and on an act of carelessness close Krita only to
realize after closing that the last time saved was a png. It might not be that
common to report as normally the user takes the blame for it, or at least i
did.

This report seems to be 2 bugs instead of one.

PopUpPalette works perfectly fine, but because the "cursor gets stuck" problem
it causes the cursor to remain in painting more instead of changing to the
arrow. The workaround for now is to set the cursor shape to something other
than "no cursor". This will work for brush tool but not for the patch tool as
it doesn't have a cursor shape :c

I could only get the tools stuck one time and it seems to be related to a
problem in PopUpPalette and the ResourceManager as when it happened the tags in
the PopupPalette were not working properly displaying random brushes instead of
the brushes for that category. However in your video it seems to happend after
a tile got badly rendered, not after using the popupPalette. After it got stuck
no tool on any document created in that session would work afterwards.

After some trying I could get the state of tools stuck a little consistent but
im not entirely sure when, it sometimes happen after selecting the patch tool
and haveing a enormmous brush size, others after closing the popUpPalette. I'll
confirm this this bug for now.

I'm not sure I get the same bug. It's always best to explain all the steps you
did to generate the bug. This way it is easier for us to replicate it. As far
as I understood, you get the problems when trying to merge two layers, one with
a Colorize Mask. I've got a crash after some attempts.

I created some layers, one with a Colorize Mask
Unset the "update mask button" on the Colorize mask
Select Layer to merge, mask and another adyacent layer.
Ctrl + E, crashes

I had that problem with my intuos 2 pen after it fell to the ground tip first
:c.

The brush you attached works correctly on my genius tablet, There is no bubble
from "a little bigger step than the others". however I did play a little with
the settings and It might help to reduce the spikes to 2 (this makes no
difference in appearance in circular brushes) and also remove the "softness"
checkbox from the dynamics properties and achieve the softness from the curve
alone. Using softness dynamics on the soft engine produces a double halo on
some curves (Visible if you uncheck size and paint gently). the halo could
produce the effect you are seeing, but testing with the setup I have I could
not get any bubble.

you can try to see if the problem is the pen tablet information krita is
reading by toggling on the tablet logging "Ctrl + Shift + T". Analize the
output using this python tool @yoyobuae made(get it from here
https://twitter.com/yoyobuae/status/1013094034313801728 and running the tool as
instructed in the tweet). the curves will not be super smooth but the curve
should not have abrupt bumps. (I know you said it was not any hardware issue,
or driver. but it might have to do with processing speeds, only way to know is
to peek at what krita is seeing)

After some attempts of

There is a workaround if you have a mouse/trackpad. When the cursor gets stuck
just move it with the trackpad/mouse. Not the best work around, but at least it
lets me draw.

In general it seems Qt on OSX has a different approach for handling tablet
events which causes this cursor bug to surface. I suspect it is rooted on Qt as
I get a similar error on other Qt apps when using the tablet. But possibly
there is something we can do to fix from Krita, but I haven't had the time to
look into it.

boud wasn't been agressive, he was being informative. We do depend on
contributions, so despite the bump we can't accelerate the rate this bug will
be fixed. I do Krita hacking on OSX but I have yet to acquire the technical
knowledge to understand this bug, Im sorry.

2018-07-11 Thread vanyossi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396427

Bug ID: 396427
Summary: Odd/left over rendering in locked layers after using
transform tool a second time on layer group
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools/Transform
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ghe...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 113892
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=113892=edit
group one locked one not locked

Transform tool and locked layers render improperly for groups with locked
layers. The locked layer will be render in the preview as transformable but the
pixels will not update (as probably is expected). The odd thing comes in the
second transform: the locked layer will render as if it was transformed
previouly.

Steps to reproduce:
Using the file provided
1. transform tool, do any transformation on the group layer (this has locked
and unlocked layers).
2. apply transformation
3. Activate transform tool again on the group layer

Result:
The locked layer will render the preview in transform tool as if it was
transformed in the previous transformation.

This odd rendering will stay for the duration of the session.

It also happens after using the move tool. Using the file provided move the
group such as the black shape to the top such as it dissapears (it also works
to move it so it touches the four corners). It's not necessary for the shape to
dissapear but it makes the effect more easily achievable.

--- Comment #2 from vanyossi <ghe...@gmail.com> ---
Krita 4.0.0 dmg from the site works prefectly, so it is most probably a
configuration problem in my side. I just don't know what it is. maybe it has to
do with the fact that I use the same dependencies build for master an 4.0. Only
switching active build and install ersion with a symlink.

just for the record

My last pull is recent.

Summary: Krita Segmentation fault at Splash screen
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.0
  Platform: Other
OS: OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

This strangly only happens in krita/4.0 branch, master is not affected.

Git bisect pinpoints the faulty commit as

Date: Thu Feb 22 19:10:12 2018 +0100

Make the new paintop icons work.

This also cleans up some unused code. Hopefully everything works.

Fixes T7984

Some more details. Debugging th ecode shows that KisPaintOpFactory list lenght
is always 16, but the contents get lost only the last added KisPaintOpFactory
item "all_options" remains. Also odd is that contents of the list are
fluctuating on each run.

I deleted my krita config folder and suspecting a faulty brush setup, but
things remain the same.

   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Place KoApplication creator before QApplication calls

Commit dbd65ef72 breaks krita binary with the following message on OSX

krita
QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath: Please instantiate the QApplication
object first
Cannot calculate the bundle path from the app path
Abort trap: 6

I attach a patch that reverts KoApplication call to where it was, so it starts
QApplication before any call to it.

be assigned to something. They are essential to krita's best usage experience.

Screenshot showing ANGLE warning on macOS

on macOS im getting this ANGLE warning, but there is no ANGLE for macOS. it
seems to be just the warning as openGL is selected and works as expected.

OpenGL(ES) shows as default but it will not set even if set as prefered.

EXPECTED RESULT
Before openGL changes for angle, only OpenGL was available and warning about
ANGLE and OpenGL (ES) were not shown. which I suspect is what is correct as
those options won't do anything

Yosemite is ancient! The last security update for it dates back to 2015 :s.

Im not sure but I think it was decided to just support the last two previous
versions of OSX. however we currently build Krita with a OSX minimum version of
10.11 in mind, which is "El Capitan".

I'm not sure we can assure krita will work well for "Yosemite" as we lack an
OSX from that version to test :/

Im sorry I couldn't reproduce the glich on this one.

The handle looses a bit of surface as it gets hidden under the visible area
when it is at the corners. I did not find it particularly difficult to select
however.

Maybe I can try to make the "hover area" stay active even if the point goes
under the visible area.

Mojave, krita 4.1.7

Works for me as stated in
https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_manual/blending_modes.html#hotkeys-associated-with-blending-modes

Blending mode change the brush paint blending mode, not the layer blending
mode. Some shortcuts have collisions (alt + shift + I) for example, but you get
a dialog. And if no collision I get blending mode wokring correctly.

@zoltron

If the version stated in "Krita:About" is 4.1.7, you were not using the dmg I
provided as it reads 4.2.0-beta (or something similar).

The bug you are getting seems to be another one about the cursor getting stuck
after zooming or rotating with touchpad gestures. It should not get stuck by
simply moving the cursor between canvas and docker elements. If it gets stuck
only by "moving the cursor around the interface with the tablet" then the bug
is still present.

It seems to be an event signal is mixed up as rotating and zooming repeatedly
with the touchpad will make the cursor get back to normal eventually.

Tested on: Retina MBP 2560 x 1600, display settings set to "more space", Dialog
was used with a wacom bamboo small.

The handle area in the corners is 3 pixels wide (probably), but I didn't find
it challenging to grab. At least not more difficult than the rest of super
small elements due to new resolution. (I normally work on "default")

No glitch on corners while dragging the node.

I will however set this bug to wish and try to come up with something (bigger
select areas on points near the corners perhaps)

Thanks for your report :)

Im familiar with the median filter, its moslty used to remove noise and
subpixel imperfections from a still scene. Several pictures have to be taken
and then blended toguether using median average to get the "real" color, also
can be used to fake long exposures or get more detailed photos. its an
interesting technique eand can be done with blending modes and layers in
certain disposition.

Krita with GMIc is already capable of such effect. With all images loaded as
layers open GMIC > layers > blend[median]. Set input layers to all.

I'll mark this bug as resolved, but if you feel the filter does not do the same
you can reopen it.

Quick fix patch

The save function in Node.cpp uses current layer bounds to create new image to

The patch attached is a quick fix, but if its ok, I can push it later.

Bug ID: 406490
Summary: Filter only applies to visible area of the canvas
instead of all pixel data in layer.
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Filters
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ghe...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Krita paints outside the visible area of the canvas, but if a filter is applied
or baked from a filter layer, only the visible part of the canvas gets the
filter applied to.

Its not possible to move the layer after that as an ugly seam becomes visible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. New image import image to canvas
2. Transform layer making pixels go beyond visible area
3. Filter > adjust > invert
4. Move layer to reveal hidden/obscured pixels.

OBSERVED RESULT
Out of edge layer data has not been affected by the filter

EXPECTED RESULT
All layer data should be affected by filter

The way krita works when you paint in the offcanvas area is to paint "behind"
the gray area. you can see how this is a problem working on background layers
and Blending.

1. Create new image and delete the top layer
2. Fill background with a non color white
3. Use move tool and reveal white.
4. to avoid white. Select Rectangular tool and use an eraser brush to fillover
the gray area near the edge.
5 Now blend and you should get alpha not white as blended color.

What to do now? generate some content in that border.

When painting just paint outside in the gray area so you put pixel data outside
the border. If a complex image is already done: Mirror your edge contents or
grow a copy of your image to fill those edges.

1. Duplicate current layer
2. Scale duplicated to grow over the edge a little.
3. Set dublipated layer below
4. Merge both layers.

Double clicking is fixed now

1) Directly from the textEditor is very posible, let me test adding the events
in the proper places
2) Buttons for + / - will change font size, instead of changing zoom. is that
correct?
3) Ok
4) Change the bg solid color of the textbox just for previewing purposes?
5) At least we hae the Tooltip working again ;)
6) That's Done already :D

4 Needs discussion and 5 needs the icons, the ones available are not suitable.

Hey! have your tried using ANGLE for the display options? I preferences
activate Canvas acceleration using ANGLE and not OpenGL undir display options.
For windows the rendering engine is recommended to be set to ANGLE as openGL
can give problems.

Hi, I reviewed you revert but no, that will not revert the unfolding behaviour.
But if it is indeed a bug I can restore it.

The unfolding was "removed" when click on thumbnail selection was introduced.

Probably because those brushes are part of krita 3.x series default brushes.
Those are included by default but AFAIK not activated.

Go to: Settings > Manage Resources
In the window it opens you can activate or deactivate bundles. If Krita 3
default resources is under inactive Bundles (which is probably true), select it
and press the arrow pointing left to activate it. (The arrow is inbetween the
active and inactive panels). Press Ok. if the brushes are not loaded after
that, just restart Krita. The brushes should be active now.

[krita] [Bug 408260] selection, brush, reset krita

2019-06-04 Thread vanyossi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408260

This only happens if using selection display mode as outline and tool option to
add. But this is expected. To avoid this, a workaround: change the selection
display mode to Mask, this avoids the use of the outline and avoids the cursor
showing and moving the selection.

This is best for doing detailed masking. Also you can change the appearance of
the mask in Preferences -> display -> Selection Overlay [Select color and
opacity of mask].

As for the move selection mode beign active on ouline mode when docker buttons
are used. we will need to add an option to lock selection from move at all.

[krita] [Bug 408320] I can't find brushes

2019-06-04 Thread vanyossi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408320

Precisely! those presets are not activated by default since they were part of
the default presets for 3.x series. Kirta 4.x uses new presets to work better
with how the program is evolving, however, some people love 3.x presets so we
keep them around but not in an active form. All krita 4.x presets names are
prefixed by a letter and a closing parenthesis: like "a)" or "d)"

The manual is never writen from scratch for every version, we probably missed
updating that part to use Krita 4.x default presets.

[krita] [Bug 408052] New: Auto precision does not seem to update on brush size Change

2019-05-28 Thread vanyossi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408052

Bug ID: 408052
Summary: Auto precision does not seem to update on brush size
Change
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush engines
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ghe...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

While fixing a bug I noticed the only place autoprecision is calculated is when
checking the Auto precision checkbox. Resizing the brush in any way does not
update precision automagically.

This is bug is cosmetic, the selection is done correctly (thats a good thing).
Selection has 2 modes for previewing, Marching ants and Mask. See more info
here https://docs.krita.org/en/user_manual/selections.html#display-modes so you
can check with th emask option the selection was done properly.

I confirm this minor glitch.

I can confirm this happens. the color si selected correctly, as its
perceptually identical. but after clicking ok, the color changes from the
original color. Once the color has shifted, opening the color selector again an
pressing ok will shift the color even further.
