[korganizer] [Bug 483822] New: 23.08.2 -> 24.02 upgrade: all caldav calenders use now a new colors in the views

2024-03-17 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483822

Bug ID: 483822
Summary: 23.08.2 -> 24.02 upgrade: all caldav calenders use now
a new colors in the views
Classification: Applications
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.14.0
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After upgrading kde neon user to the new Mega release and starting korganizer
6.0.0, every calendar (nextcloud caldav) uses now a different color (same in
all views). Before 24.02 all calendars used the default color as defined by
the caldav (nextcloud) server.

merkuro in 24.02 , Thunderbird and Apple Mail, still uses the default caldav
server color as I did expect.

I could also not find a setting that allows me to reset the calendar colors to
the caldav server default color

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
* start korganizer 6.0.0

OBSERVED RESULT

Each view is using a 'new' color compared to qt5 based korganizer versions.
And no longer the default calendar colors from the caldav server.
(Merkuro, Thunderbird, Apple Calendar still use the caldav server colors)

EXPECTED RESULT

Use the same color as for the calendar a the caldav server

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: neon user
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2

NextCloud 27.0.6
NC Calender App: 4.6.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I've found nothing in settings that allows me to 'reset' color usage to the
calendar color given by the caldav server.
Additionally a [Default] button in the Color Picker for calendar colors did not
exist.

SUMMARY

libkscreen in 'Plasma 5.27.0 Complete Changelog' lists:

Add zsh completions (compdef) for kscreen-doctor.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Install kde neon with latest Plasma 5.27
1. start zsh: type kscreen-doctor # no completion info
2. dpkg -L libkf5kscreen-bin # contain kscreen-doctor but no zsch completion

OBSERVED RESULT
no working completion

EXPECTED RESULT
Citing commit :-)

Top-notch context-aware completions for kscreen-doctor with fine-grained
tags, descriptions and dynamic selection of outputs and their available
modes. In the output completion menu it displays status of outputs and
sorts enabled ones first. In the modes selection it brings current mode
to the top (if any), then lists output's preferred ones, all marked
accordingly, and finally dumps all other available modes. All modes are
pretty-formatted to be nicely aligned and easily distinguishable while
inserting correct compact mode ID upon completion.

confused display configuration

SUMMARY

My Laptop monitor 14" 2560x1440 looks best at 175% scale
My external 4k 27" monitor looks best at 150%

For whatever reason 'Display Configuration' remembers/shows 3840/1.75=2194 x
2160/1.75=1234 in the visualisation of the displays as well as for the relative
positioning (see attachment buggy-setup.jpg). Tested with 'extend to the
right' and with 'extend to the top'. Resolution is properly displayed as 4k.

I've created a new user and logged in and everything works as expected. System
settings show 4k in the visual represtation and positioning external monitor to
right and on the top results in properly aligned displays.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open 'Display Configuration'
2. *check that/when* the size in the visualition is not the real resolution
3. create an 'extend to the right' setup, 'Apply'

OBSERVED RESULT
only 2194 instead of 3860 pixel of the external monitor are used (see also
attachment buggy-layout.jpg):

EXPECTED RESULT
full 4k size of the external monitor is used

Yes and no.

Using my laptop 2560x1440 with my 4k Monitor is not usable. For whatever
reason Plasma has a second size of 2194x1234 that is used when positioning the
4k Monitor relativ to the laptop screen.

While playing around to find a workaround, I've seen only kmail showing the
weird font resizing. but I've given up frustrated before I could reproduce

I've to correct myself: after ~ 20 - 30 seconds after the immediate jump from
0% to 100% the percentage is replaced by a proper working incremented progess
indicator. (In my case 100% was then replaced with once 11% and once with 16%

Same problem here:

 * Jitsi-Meet Appimage stopped working.
 * Nheko Appimage does not run
 * Appimagelauncher tools are no longer available. Newest PPA version is
broken
   too due to missing libappimage0.

TLTR; Appimage support is completely broken im Neon User distro.

AFAIU neons libappimage0 should be named libappimage1 so both an exists in
parallel.

My dirty workaround was to download libappimage0 from ubuntu focal repo and
install
libappimage0*so by hand:

 sudo apt install --download-only libappimage0=0.1.9+dfsg-1
 dpkg --extract /var/cache/apt/archives/libappimage0_0.1.9+dfsg-1_amd64.deb xx
 sudo rsync -av xx/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libappimage.so.0*
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

Now Jitsi, Nheko and Appimagelaucher work again.

   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.14.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Starting with KDE Apps 20.04 update: after every resume a dialog is shown
asking:

The mail dispatcher is offline, so mails cannot be sent. Do you want to
make it online?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start kmail
2. suspend laptop
3. resume laptop

OBSERVED RESULT
Dialog pops up asking if I want to turn the mail dispatcher on

EXPECTED RESULT
No dialog after resume. Dispatcher was on before suspend, so it should be on
after resume. No need to ask.

Please change the default (back to): don't ask, turn dispatcher on after resume
if it was on before suspend.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: kde neon user
KMail Version 5.14.0 (20.04.0)
KDE Frameworks 5.69.0
Qt 5.14.2 (built against 5.14.1)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I can use 'do not ask again' to turn off the dialog in the future, but IMHO
no new or existing user should ever be 'forced' to do this after a
suspend/resume cycle. The dialog does not follow IMHO the 'least surprise'
principle.

When I plugin the external monitor directly into the laptop, the output is
HDMI-1 (with USB-C dock it's DP-2-2) and dragging and dropping windows
between
laptop and external monitor works as one expects. I.e. fonts and icon sizes

I did setup a new user in kde neon. Same effects with all-defaults + 150%
scaling :-(

Some weeks ago I could generate a good and a bad setup.

 * good: *all* output had names like NAME-. This was the case after
boot.

 * bad: USB-C dock outputs have names like NAME--. This was
the case after unplug and replug the UCS-C from the docking station.

Unfortunately after a firmware upgrade and/or kernel upgrade I now *always* get
NAME-- output names. So I always have weird cracy font
settings and icon behaviour with my UBC-C docking station.

I can now reprocude the problem.

 * Booting with USB-C dock connected -> good. No weird fonts size changes. See
Attachments xrandr.boot-with-dock

 * Booting without USB-C dock connected or unplug & plugin -> Bad. Weird fonts
size changes. See attachments xrandr.boot-without-dock*

Looking at the differences in xrandr shows, that for the working cases the
xrandr output is DP-n.
for the weird fonts size change the output DP-n-m.

So the 'cascading'(?) of DP-n-m seems to cause problems:

and look fine.

But KDE Apps:

OSD is now suddenly much bigger:

Second:

 * unplugin USB-C dock the moved back konsole window show it's content only

At home I have the same docking station and 4k Monitor as at work. But here the
apps don't change the fonts size when moving back and forth from laptop to
external monitor.

differences in setup:
* Today was a linux firmware deb package update
* at work I use a DP->DP cable to connect the monitor. At work it's a
DP->miniDP cable.

I've attached xrandr output.

When back at work next monday I'll check if the problem is there gone too.

I see similar font problems (other elements with text are fine) in e.g.

* kate: (texteditor font is smaller in external monitor

* konganizer: Treeview or calendars and folder in lower left uses too small
font on external monitor)

But Apps like firefox, chrome and telegram keep the fonts size when moving from
laptop to external monitor

SUMMARY
setup: Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop with external 4K Monitor connected with USB-C
Dock
(see xrandr.out)

On the laptop display dolphin look as shown in dolphin-on-laptop-screen.png

STEPS TO REPRODUCE & OBSERVED RESULTS in screenshots
1. On the laptop display dolphin look as shown in dolphin-on-laptop-screen.png
2. Moving dolping window to external monitor, the fonts changes to
dolphin-on-external-4k-monitor.png
3. On external monitor when I scroll the softlink 'foobar' out of view and back
to view, the fonts used
to display the link name is suddenly much bigger (see
dolphin-on-external-4k-monitor_out_and_in.png ). Only softlinks fonts is
bigger. file and dirs don't change font size)
4. When I move dolphin with the big font for the softlink back to the laptop
screen, the fonts don't change, but when I what to make a screenshot and click
[take screenshot] button, the softlink font changes
to the same smaller size used for files and dir display. (so no screenshot here
:-( )

EXPECTED RESULT
The used fonts for 1 - 4 are always the same

Bug ID: 418227
Summary: Screens scaling 150%: bad font rendering when moving
konsole from laptop screen to extern 4k monitor
   Product: konsole
   Version: 19.12.2
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Laptop screen: fonts properly displayed

SUMMARY
setup: Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop with external 4K Monitor connected with USB-C
Dock
(see xrandr.out)

Wenn I move a konsole window to from laptop to external monitor the fonts are
distroted.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start konsole with Alt-Space on external monitor
2. alternatively: move konsole from laptop display to external monitor

OBSERVED RESULT
displayed fonts are too big for the row/column spacing (see
konsole.on-extern-4k.png)

EXPECTED RESULT
fonts should fit the row/colum spacing (see konsole.on-laptop-screen.png)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon 5.18
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0

Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1) Before with qt 5.12.? and Kde Apps 19.12.1 the font size was adapted to
row/column spacing -> so fonts where much too small on the external monitor
(kwin decoration didn't show this bug)

2) moving konsole window from external monitor to laptop monitor fixes the
fonts display problem

3) Using Ctrl-- & Ctrl-+ fixes adapts the row/colum spacing to the font size

[plasmashell] [Bug 418097] New: Change default wallpager for *all* screen

2020-02-23 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418097

Bug ID: 418097
Summary: Change default wallpager for *all* screen
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.18.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Image Wallpaper
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY: With Plasma 5.18 'Next' replaced the 'Ice Cold' as default wallpaper.

I want to change the default wallpaper to e.g. Kite. The wallpager type image
does not allow to set a 'default' wallpaper that is used for all external
monitors/TVs/beamers.

The image wallpaper plugin misses a 'Favorite' or 'default' marker for a
selected wallpaper.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the wall pager a laptop to a new image (RMB -> configre desktop ->
wallpaper)
2. connect any external monitor / TV or beamer

OBSERVED RESULT
New monitor used Kite as wallpaper

EXPECTED RESULT
My selected favorite wallpaper is also used for all monitor / TVs / beamers as
their wallpaper and lock screen

Intentional does not automatically imply that it's the right thing(tm). It
broke existing work-flow: Now one is forced to use a submenu (long in mycase)
instead of a shortcut to open a new-tab with a predefined command. See e.g.

#407076
#408217

See Darin suggestion at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408217#c3
Good summary. And an possible solution.

+1 to associate the shortcuts with 'new-tab'.

Hi,
AFAIR this behaviour is not new. That's the way konsole treated the
switch-profile as long as I can remember.

When one replaces the command too, then switch-profile would be identical to
new-tab (except that it closes the first the current tab).

In my opinions _if_ this behaviour change is implemented then it's better
called replace-tab.

[Akonadi] [Bug 407152] New: Browser tab does not show IDs of caldav items without RID

2019-05-02 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407152

Bug ID: 407152
Summary: Browser tab does not show IDs of caldav items without
RID
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.11.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: akonadiconsole
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY: akonadictl fsck 'complained':

Item "106814" in collection "223" has no RID.
Item "106816" in collection "223" has no RID.

but akonadiconsole 'Browser' tab does not list the above IDs when one selects
collection 223.

I've identified collection 223 via tab 'DB Browser' -> collection table:

223 was one (out of four) calendars of a caldav resource (owncloud).

Above look method works usually fine with E-mails without RID.

OBSERVED RESULT

items with no RID was not listed on 'Browser' when the item is a member of a
caldav resource.

EXPECTED RESULT

items should be listed (with empty RID field) just as done for e-mail items

I can confirm the bug (KDE Neon User): Since years I use customized profiles +
short cuts that start different ssh wrapper scripts. Starting with 19.04.0:

* Using the profiles shortcut ignores (at least) the command setting
(regression)
* Using Menu: new window -> 'My Profile Name' the command setting is used (muy
current workaround)

The adapted 'color schema & font' settings are applied in both cases above as
before.

I've experienced the bug, but with mysql not postgres, on an almost daily basis
with all 18.12.* release aka 5.10.* . (I use KDE Neon User)

With 18.12.* I've seen again after a long time the multiple merge candidate
bugs and
suddenly had duzends of items with "no RID". (5.10 almost drive me crazy.) I
always assumed that those problems trigger the "mysql server not stopped by
'akonadictl stop'". So I'm not astonished that the bug is to reproducable for
everyone.

IMHO you should bump the "version" of this bug from 5.6.1 to 5.10.3.

akonadi 5.10.3 (version listed in bugzilla)

SUMMARY: unfortunately due to massive problems with akonadi in the last weeks
(multiple merge candidate, several sync of same collection ~ 30 sec) I had to
fallback to use thunderbird someties -> ~ doubling the # of IMAP collections.
This triggers akonadi 'Informational' dialog:

... A02 NO Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (
mail_max_userip_connections=10 ) [ UNAVAILABLE  ]

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start several akonadi sessions/thunderbirds/macmail... in parallel (laptop,
desktop, vbox ...)
2. when 'N' the max # of imap connection on the imap server is reached:
3. duzends of informational akonadi dialogs appear that grap focus

OBSERVED RESULT
* a new dialog appear (every few seconds a new one). I had 23 of them
* they needlessly grab be focus -> e.g. kicker and krunner are closed
* After ~ 15 min the latest dialog starts to grab the focus as soon another
window is aktivated. (only workaround is to close all the dialogs)

EXPECTED RESULT
* Only one dialog instead of a two duzend dialogs.
* As it's only informational there no need to grab the focus
* prefered would be one standard Plasma notification instead of a dialog window

To reproduce:

a)
* open a blog and increase scaling with Ctrl-+
* goto next message
=> Regression: scaling is not remembered

b)
* Use Ctrl-+ again
=> Bug: now the scaling is like you pressed Ctrl-+ twice
* Press Ctrl-- and blog looks like at the beginning + one Ctrl-+ (good)

So when switching blogs scaling is not remembered (a) but due to (b) somehow
the internally book keeping remembers it nevertheless so another Ctrl-+ doubles
the scaling.

[kleopatra] [Bug 381919] Kleopatra fails to validate S/MIME signed msgs with MPG CA in the cert chain

Oh, I was wrong. The subject of the 2 MPG CA certs are identical too.

So looks like copying my .gnupg/ dir since years introduced a subtle bug
with the two identical DN in my cert chain.

DN and subject are identical. ID, S/N and sha1_fpr, md5_fpr are different

[kleopatra] [Bug 381919] Kleopatra fails to validate S/MIME signed msgs with MPG CA in the cert chain

2018-06-15 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381919

Next go:

The DFN CA and MPG CA in the chain of my personal zertificate as the Issuers:
a) DN: CN=DFN-Verein PCA Global - G01,OU=DFN-PKI,O=DFN-Verein,C=DE
b) DN: CN=MPG CA,O=Max-Planck-Gesellschaft,C=DE

There are 2 certificates in my pubring matching the string (a) and (b)
(well, (a) matches 3 but one is revoked) both of them are valid until Jul 2019.

The two variants differ in that the older one uses SHA1 (valid since ~ 2006/7)
as the hash algorithm and the other uses SHA256 (valid since 2014).

I've deleted the SHA1 variant of DFN CA - G01 and(!) MPG CA - G01 and now
the kmail accepts E-Mail signed by me as valid. I can even sent e-mails
signed by me, without disabling CRL checks in kmail settings. Yeah!

So my cert has an IssuerString MPG CA ... matching an SHA1 cert and SHA256
cert. DITTO for the MPG CA ... cert itself that has the DFN issuer value
mathing also 2 valid cert (one SHA1 one SHA256).

So AFAIU the problematic spot is:
  4 - 2018-06-15 09:31:02 gpgsm[14885]: DBG: chan_10 <- INQUIRE SENDCERT
/CN=DFN-Verein PCA Global - G01,OU=DFN-PKI,O=DFN-Verein,C=DE

  4 - 2018-06-15 09:31:02 gpgsm[14885]: DBG: chan_404 -> D
crt:i:2048:1:856D3B2E89D15A59:20140527T145346:20190709T235900:17A4248A6BC150::CN=DFN-Verein
PCA Global - G01,OU=DFN-PKI,O=DFN-Verein,C=DE::cC:::%0Afpr:
  4 - 2018-06-15 09:31:02 gpgsm[14885]: DBG: chan_404 -> OK
  4 - 2018-06-15 09:31:02 gpgsm[14885]: DBG: chan_404 <- BYE

gpgsm is 2.1.11-6ubuntu2.1 and kmail is v18.04.1 (from 16.04/Neon User with
5.13)

So my conclusion is FWIW: the DN is not unique, so 2 matches are found. (Ditto
for the DFN CA G01) and validating signatures and sending of signed/encryped
Mail in kmail fails.

What confuses me is that Thunderbird on the same system does not complain.
Maybe kmail should use Subject instead DN? Or thunderbird is buggy or ... well
I don't know.

[akregator] [Bug 394568] New: Next article with Key 'Left' moves addigtinally the article list to the left

2018-05-22 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394568

Bug ID: 394568
Summary: Next article with Key 'Left' moves addigtinally the
article list to the left
   Product: akregator
   Version: 5.8.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 112814
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=112814=edit
Before Key 'Left'

Reproduce:
 * use Wide-screen view
 * resize article list so horizontal scrollbar appears (see screenshot
akregator-before-key-left)
 * Use 'Left' cursor key to goto the next article
Result:
 * Additionally to going to next article the article list is shifted to the
left.
Therefore the beginning of the article titles is no longer visible (see
screenshot akregator-after-key-left)

Expected result:
 * article list is not shifted to the left and therefore the start of the
titles is still visible.

[akregator] [Bug 394469] akregator does not (always) scale pictures in blogs

2018-05-21 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394469

--- Comment #4 from Achim Bohnet <a...@mpe.mpg.de> ---
Hi Christophe,
I think the problem is a bit more complex
 * Technically I sure you are right, but when you have a look at the web page
of the blog, you see that the image is resized when you e.g. shrink the width.
That's something one can not achie ve with an image of a fixed (smaller)size.
 * From the point of view of a article reader, the internal webview missbehaves
 * From the point of view of an article creator the article looks perfectly
well in the browser and on kde.planet.

AFAIU it now, the problem is that the 'subpage' specified by the Blog feed does
not contain the HTML code to restrict the blog to the page width as in the full
webpage version.

As a workaround IMHO it may make perfect sense for akregator and is therefore
desireable to wrap the article in whatever HTML code to restrict image width to
page width as it's used by planet.kde.org and the original web page, This
makes the pictures behave 'as expected' by users and authors.

This is based on my risk estimations that 'broken' authoring tools are much
more common than people that really want to embbed really huge images. And the
HTML generated by the blogging software still prevents that.

Educating every blog author to work around fragile authoring tools, which seems
to be the real culprit, is not manageable. Fixing the authoring tools/software

Maybe as an option per feed? Without GUI to test it?

Cheers,
Achim

[akregator] [Bug 394469] New: akregator does not (always) scale pictures in blogs

2018-05-20 Thread Achim Bohnet
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394469

Bug ID: 394469
Summary: akregator does not (always) scale pictures in blogs
   Product: akregator
   Version: 5.8.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: internal browser
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@mpe.mpg.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 112766
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=112766=edit
different image scaling in akregator and external browser

Reproduce:
 1) load in akregator from Planet KDE feed: This week in Usability &
Productivity, part 19
 2) load the same posting from 1) in falkon/chromium/firefoxbove from
planet.kde.org
 3) laod the same posting from 1) in falkon/chromium/firefox from the other web
page

Result:
akregator shows the images full/much bigger size.
Expected result:
akregator in 1) scales the images to page width as done for 2) and 3)

FWIW:
 * :-) the images the posting 'Plasma 5.13 beta' in KDE Dots news are
perferctly scaled in akregator.
 * :-( Looks like all the popular 'Usability & ...' postings from Nate have
broken image scaling in akregator
 * :-( Group Pic in 'The Akademy 2018 program is now available' from Paul Brown
is also not scaled, so it's not only Nate Posting ;-)

So looks like some html scaling methods work in akregator's buildin browser.
Some other do not.
