aj sp this left hand side behaviour seems to be krita next
implementation...i'd probably still prefer my proposal cause i can imagine
being frustrated by the changed scrolling behaviour and having to go left each
time to be able to scroll

its certainly better than not having it at all, but shift+scroll makes more

[krita] [Bug 437023] Current selected frame should follow with layer up and down action

I dont understand your example

My proposal is that if you make a single frame selection (or usually no
selection at all even), everything should work as it does now, BUT when you
move the timeline marker through shortcuts (left right, up and down) the
selection should follow the frame that is active at that time frame marker and
layer.

Selecting a range on a layer, or multiple layer is a clear intent to do some
manipulations and work with that range, in that case this new proposed
behavioure would not be needed.

Maybe if you'rez still hesitent this could be a special mode on the timeline
"active frame" mode where, if active the proposed behaviour happens, and if not
the current sticky frame behaviour happens

timeline playback is really solid, i like that you can make a selection while
the playback is playing to change the range and length.

there however doesntr seem to be a way to interrupt the playback and only watch
the beginning with for example the "first frame" keyboard shortcut or button.

Also when selecting the top of the timeline you would expect the playback to
start at that point, but that doesnt happen

There is a lot of unnecessary whitespace. Remove this whitespace or maybe

can eliminate the need tor 2 squares and reduce it to one colored square per

it isnt logical that the normal mouse scroll would change the timeline marker

I propose that the current implementation be changed to move scrollbars

and then you can implement SHIFT+SCROLL to add the modified behaviour.

This is possibly an issue mainly for shortcuts

If you're on a certain frame and layer and increase hold frames (for
example)without an active selection you expect the frame count to increase.
This does happen

But then when you press to go to the next layer the selection remains on the
previous layer. so if you now increase hold frames the previous layer will get
an increase in hold frames

This is not really fluid and logical.
This is not expected behaviour.

If you however make the same operation on a range selection it is save to say
you're probably activly working with that range.
So the behaviour i explained above should probably ONLY be implemented for when
no range is actively selected

The active frame SHOULD follow the layer selection automatically

When exporting compositions krita seems to use PNG by default, and the last
used settings for the last export you did.

This makes it simple yet cumbersome if you need to make changes to the export
image type. Its not very flexible.

Common settings are JPG, PNG , alpha or not, Background color and more...

The easiest would probably to show a prompt where you make your choices? I'm
open to other solutions too.

Sometimes you need to cancel export because you made a mistake that you notice
or change you need to make.

But while you can cancel an export you can only do it for the current
composition, and all the following compositions will still try and export.

There is also no way of cancelling normal composition exports, so maybe a
general way to cancel both normal and animation compositions would be a good
thing

Basicly it would be good that every time a composition is updated a new state

this probably would only need to count for manual updates to the compsitions

On top of this scrolling backwards makes the blending STOP at addition and you
cant cycle back anymore when you encounter this edge, this is inconsistent with

> (unlikely but otherwise I don't really understand "for use in other programs

> function and how the source layer looks like and what is the result

Example you make a small animation that can be painted like an artwork when the
frames are done. It is easier to animate on an animation layer. But then
coloriing the frames like an artwork if the frames are not typical cartoon
celshading is a pain in animation.

Alternatively you may have a bunch of layers that you imported from a folder
with random names, you may want to create a gif or movie out of it to send a
render to someone.

Being able to just convert layers in an animation layer would make this so much
easier.

This function is supposed to be used on several layers, not just one, so i dont
understand your first question

If you select 1 layer it will have one frame

if you select 5 layers it will have 5 frames

if you select a group it will have the contents of that group
If you select multiple groups this may need a discussion: 1 full animation
layer or an animation layer per group? or maybe disallow this function for
groups and only allow it for layers

Somehow advanced color selector also takes a lot of space than the other

1) have one layer visible, one layer invisible
2) use isolate layer on invisible layer (layer is now isolated and should be
visible
3)choose the visible layer (now this one will be visible)
4)deactivate isolate layer (now both will be visible)

this should not happen.

The invisible layer should remain invisible

the only way of getting rid of this artefact is toggling the visibility of the
invisible layer.

Creating or trying to edit an existing text opens the Text Popup in some
unknown location.
You cant see the text popup, and it steals away the focus of the screen
meaning that the current krita session is locked. Pressing escape also doesnt
close the popup window

This didnt happen in the previous krita version

I marked it as a dangerous vug cause if you encounter it while woking you are
forced to force quit krita and potentially lose progress.

Possible workarounds for the future
1) allow escape to close the popup wherever it is
2) create an actual window that you can find in the file explorer that you can
close

Tegardless of this issue i feel the above 2 options should be possible

Give a color tint to reference images (checkbox + color choice)

To more easily distinguish Reference Images from normal pixel data on the
canvas it would be nice to have control over this more directly.

Making the Reference images have a tint or value change would help speed up the
process depending on the colors present on the canvas .

This feature needs to just be replicated from the 'onion skin tint color' in
the onion skins docker

With the new release 4.2
It has come to my attention that doing this rapidly makes kritaoften skip
number 2. as it takes a few fractions longer to make the selection.

Either krita should handle all the entered operations

or the selection should be faster.

Using filters in onion skins is very powerful

but it would be good to have a 2 extra shortcuts to only go to next and
previous FILTERED frame

this would be different from the current functions we already have

it would be an adjusted Previous/Next KEYFRAME function

Alternatively
it could be a function that uses the Previous/Next KEYFRAME function ,without
changing it.

But you need to activate a button or shortcut to go into this mode
This has the benefit of needing only one shortcut,or even none if you use the
button. And you can reuse your current shortcuts.

the button can be put underneath the tint color options in onion skin, maybe

I would like that the onion skin filter colors

would just be put horizontally under the onion skin sliders.

They dont need to be in a dropdown, there is enough space to accomodate them
there.

It would also speed up the usage significantly,by not requiring that extra
click
It's seemingly small issue, but it has prevented me from using this feature

It still happens in today's nightly

At a certain moment I DID get to keep the selection. But then another issue
arose

if you ADD to the selection
then the later selected frames go out of bounds of the selection

The selection should grow and shrink with the frames for the most consitant
behaviour.

if you select a column on a single frame and then use shortcuts to add 1 hold

when you select multiple frames on the same layer ->de selection is removed

At this point in time we can export Compositions

I think it would be very useful to have an extra option to render export
compositions

this would make exporting several seperate characters and effects ,after some
setup,very easy.

Probably only each composition should only be loaded after the other one is
exported.

Names of the export are taken from the composition name.

instant preview seems to do nothing

after some testing

I think it happens wgen a large file is in krita's memory

When i have a small file there is no issue
When i have a large file there is lag

when i paint in a small file with a large file in the background ,there is lag
also

so maybe there is a bottle neck created somehow.
Most things go fast tho even with a big file. But there is lag with stablizer

Edit:tested some more

Apparantly this happens with ALL smooth options and brushes

so its actually NOT a stablizer issue but a performance issue

I just noticed it more with stablizer due to the nature of the stroke.

As you can see

the line after one second of drawing lags for a fracion ,sometimes 2 times, and
results in a very choppy feeling.

This happens to almost any stroke and really interrupts the flow of drawing

This needs to be solved as as soon as possible as to me its quite an important
feature

I think this lag has been there for a long while but i've been ignoring and
