[frameworks-knewstuff] [Bug 382371] Catalogues problem
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382371 --- Comment #3 from Shavarsh --- I have tried to install the catalogues afresh with the same result i.e., some of the catalogues are held in storage but many require installing them again as if no installation attempt had been done. These catalogues are e.g., Inline thumbnail images, Tycho 2 star catalogue, Details for NGC Images displayed in the details window and others at times too. It is not clear if next update to Kstars will bring about the need to install one of already installed catalogues again. I am not speaking of updates to the installed catalogues. The issue is entirely about installing catalogues as if they had not been installed. The software (Kstars) just seems to fail to retain the catalogues in its storage. So if you need to have them active then you need to visit the Download new Data application over and over again. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388777 --- Comment #5 from Shavarsh <shavar...@gmail.com> --- tell you something on this recent release. The past problems are all in here again. [kstars] [Bug 382778] Problem exiting the program
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382778 --- Comment #13 from Shavarsh <shavar...@gmail.com> --- My reported problems were not associated with the crashes or hanging of the main application general. Instead, the problems were with the plug-in container. The latter never seemed finalized, or it periodically created issues with the status of the installed catalogues. The catalogues frequently appeared installed and then changing the status to "needs to be installed" again whereas in fact they are installed but the plug-in container somehow fails to recognize the fact. Yes, I also encountered problems with the crash of the application on exit but this was by comparison a minor problem. My understanding is the same version of the application is now updated with the modifications entered into the installer build, is it? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382778 --- Comment #10 from Shavarsh <shavar...@gmail.com> --- The problem does not continue any long with with the same version of K-stars. Right? The plug-in container fixes the status of downloaded and installed catalogues, does it? I checked it once the catalogues seemed not to change their respective status. I will check it tomorrow. [kstars] [Bug 382778] Problem exiting the program
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382778 --- Comment #5 from Shavarsh <shavar...@gmail.com> --- In addition, the USNO NOMAD catalogue never gets installed. I do not know if it is unable to download or there is a problem with the installation component of the program. It does not matter how long I keep the process of installation going, it never ends, and no catalogue with stars dimmers than 12m ever appear in the program. The speed (volume) of the internet connection does not affect the process of the download completion of this catalogue either. This situation repeats itself on two different computers. Is the "wish list" a subject line or a form? Where can I find it? Thank you. This was despite the fact that it had previously shown successfully installed the listed catalogues. To give you example of many, the Tycho -2 and Inline thumbnail images had been installed and shown respective status in the Add-on installer dialogue box.
