SUMMARY
digikam 8.4.0 ignores KDE font settings and scale factor.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install openSUSE 15.6 on a machine with a hidpi monitor (3840x2160).
2. Set up fonts and 125% global scale factor as per attached screenshot. Log
off, log back in. Check scale factors from Konsole:
$ echo $QT_SCALE_FACTOR

$ echo $QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS
DP-0=1.25;DP-1=1.25;DP-2=1.25;DP-3=1.25;HDMI-0=1.25;DP-4=1.25;DP-5=1.25;

3. Update to latest digikam 8.4.0 from the KDE:Extra repo for openSUSE 15.6
4. Tick "Use high DPI scaling from screen factor" and "Use pixmaps with high
DPI resolution", restart digikam.

OBSERVED RESULT
Digikam's menu fonts are too small, squished and not the same as the configured
KDE defaults.
Fonts in the Albums tree control are tiny and barely visible

EXPECTED RESULT
Digikam's menu fonts are the same as the configured KDE defaults.
Fonts in the Albums tree control have a sensible size.

SUMMARY
High cpu usage of kscreenlocker_greet and plasmashell processes after
switching users.

Originally reported via https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347772#c75,
created a new issue as requested by Nate in
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347772#c77.

Reproducible: Always.
Started to happen after replacing the old AMD video card with the NVIDIA video
card.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Login as user1
2. Switch user to user2
3. Observe kscreenlocker_greet and plasmashell processes running as user1 begin
to consume 100% CPU.
4. Log off user2 and log back in as user1.
5. High CPU usage disappears.

The workaround from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347772#c22 does not
help.
Output of "qdbus-qt5 org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation" is attached.

-- Information about the crash:
After performing the steps in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347772#c75,
plasmashell (in user1's session) crashes with this stacktrace.

Sorry for missing Qt debug symbols.

This is because the openSUSE's KDE:/Qt5/openSUSE_Leap_15.5 repo now contains
Qt5 5.15.13 which is not installable unless one enables and installes from
Q6/Plasma6 repos.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Hitting this issue (or something very similar) on openSUSE Leap 15.5+Qt
5.15.12 + KDE Frameworks 5.115.0 + Nvidia drivers
(nvidia-video-G06-550.67-lp155.20.1.x86_64).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to reproduce:
1. Login as user1
2. Switch user to user2
3. Observe kscreenlocker_greet and plasmashell processes running as user1 begin

4. Log off user2 and log back in as user1.
5. High CPU usage disappears.

The workaround from comment 22 does not help.

[plasma-nm] [Bug 462454] New: networks applet is gone if network manager is restarted in another user's session

2022-11-30 Thread Vadym Krevs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462454

Bug ID: 462454
Summary: networks applet is gone if network manager is
restarted in another user's session
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: 5.26.4
  Platform: OpenSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: applet
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vkr...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create two users. Login as the first user. Switch to the second user via
Start -> Switch User.
2. Open a root tab in Konsole, and restart NetworkManager via "systemctl
restart NetworkManager"
3. Switch back to the first user's session via Start -> Switch User.

OBSERVED RESULT
The Networks applet is gone in the first user's session (after restarting
NetworkManager in the second user's session) and there is no obvious way to
bring it back.

EXPECTED RESULT
The Networks applet is still present in the first user's session (after
restarting NetworkManager in the second user's session). There is also a simple
command line command to bring it back.

[plasma-nm] [Bug 462429] New: expired VPN server certificate completely breaks VPN functionality in Network Manager

2022-11-30 Thread Vadym Krevs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462429

Bug ID: 462429
Summary: expired VPN server certificate completely breaks VPN
functionality in Network Manager
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: 5.26.4
  Platform: OpenSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vkr...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. My company uses a VPN that can be connected to using Juniper Network
Connect.
2. Apparently, one of the certificates installed on the VPN server has expired.
So attempting to connect to that VPN connection results in a prompt from KDE
Daemon

Check failed for certificate from VPON server "
Reason: certificate expired
Accept it anyway?

with OK and Cancel buttons.

3. I click "OK" to connect nevertheless.

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens. The VPN connection window closes without establishing a
connection.
After that it is impossible to establish new VPN connections via this or any
other VPN connections - the connection dialog does not even come up/

EXPECTED RESULT
I can still connect to the VPN despite certificate expiration (as implied by
the KDE Daemon prompt) and/or the other VPN connections can still be
established.

Umm, I have since upgraded to openSUSE 15.3 earlier this summer and latest
plasma 5.23.1 from OBS. This was still an issue prior to upgrade to plasma
5.23.1 - but the upgrade to 5.23.1 fixed it.

I can see Google Chrome, System Monitor, Konsole, Kate, KTorrent and
/usr/bin/korgac in the Name column.

I have a similar issue on my Dell Inspiron 5770 laptop running opensuse 15.2
with latest Plasma/Frameworks/Qt from OBS. After restart, plasmashell consumes
5-6 percent of cpu and the fans are off. After a while of normal activity -
like browsing the web or watching Youtube videos or doing a Hangouts session,
plasmashell cpu usage jumps to ~37% and the fans kick in. Killing and
restarting plasmashell "fixes" the problem till next time.

Changing render loop to basic (as per comment 1) has no effect.

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

I have a similar issue with Google Hangouts. If you start a video call and
attempt to test sound in speakers, there is no sound if "Enhanced Media
Controls" checkbox is checked. Similarly, Fuze Web has sound problems if
"Enhanced Media Controls" checkbox is checked. Unchecking it (while leaving the
rest of extension enabled) resolves the issue. This is on openSUSE Leap 15.0
with Google Chrome 74.0.3729.131 (also reproducible on Chromium).

Enabling the option "Use line characters contained in font" in the profile
