[gcompris] [Bug 458414] New: False information in "Explore farm animals" against animals
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458414 Bug ID: 458414 Summary: False information in "Explore farm animals" against animals Product: gcompris Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: jaz...@gmail.com Reporter: codestr...@posteo.org Target Milestone: --- Hi, there are grave issues with the information conveyed in the "Explore farm animals" activity. These can cause or continue discrimination, violence and cruelty against these creatures. Some examples: Level 1: - The animals in the main picture have a smile on their faces. This does not reflect the harsh reality most of these animals face in modern animal production facilities in the western societies. In order not to expose the young user with the true horrors these animals must endure one could at least depict them with a sad face. - Detail information on the cow: "They graze all day in the meadow". This is false. Most of farmed cows in the world a locked in industrial barns and never see a meadow in their (shortcut) lives. Level 3: - "You can drink the milk this animal produces" => Currently, the only valid answer is cow; but this is not the only of the clickable animals. In reality, we can drink the milk of all mammal animals. In the picture this would be dog, horse, cow, sheep, cat, pig. A good question could be why in the western culture it is normal to choose mostly cow's milk? This would highlight that there is not only one culture in the world and not only one way to treat animals. - "This animal lays eggs" => Currently, the only valid answer is chicken; which is not complete. Also ducks lay eggs. Also the bird on the barn lays eggs. Chickens are birds and all birds lay eggs. - "You can ride on the back of this animal" => You cannot only ride on horse's back but on nearly every animal's back. Depending on its strength it would hurt them more or less. E.g. there are feasts in some rural areas in the United States where children shall ride on the pig's backs for fun. The educational question here would not if you _can_ do it but if you _should_ do it. Would it be appreciated to disable this activity until these issues (which have the potential to prolong needless animal suffering) are resolved? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 391991] Keyboard Layout switching stops working when ibus is installed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391991 --- Comment #3 from Gregor Mi --- On openSUSE Tumbleweed 20200227 I installed the zoom client for Linux (https://zoom.us/) which requires ibus. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 392531] Add option to have "Move" as default DND action instead of the pop-up menu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392531 --- Comment #12 from Gregor Mi --- To me, Nate's proposal is a smart advancement compared to my original wish. Nowadays, I would not argue with making a clone of something else but having the possibility to enable an option to work as effective as possible. E.g. most of the file operations I normally do on the same partition are "Move" and - to a much smaller extent - "Symlink". Between different partitions, it is unclear, therefore I like Nate's idea to just keep showing the popup in this case. Two additions: - I think David's concern is perfectly valid: unclear or random things should not be done to files. Therefore, one possibility would be that the default operation when dragging a file is indicated by an overlay icon (or even text: "Move file(s)") at the mouse cursor that makes it clear what the drop operation will do. - The generalization of the above proposal would be a choice box: "Default file operation when dragging files between folders on the same partition: [ Show Popup (default) | Move | Copy | Symlink ]" -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 412666] New: Drag and drop a file from one window to another: keep source window below
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412666 Bug ID: 412666 Summary: Drag and drop a file from one window to another: keep source window below Product: dolphin Version: 19.04.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: codestr...@posteo.org CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 123053 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=123053=edit Two overlapping Dolphin windows SITUATION: There are two overlapping Dolphin windows, see attached screenshot. As soon as I start dragging the hello_file.txt from the left window, the window pops to front and blocks the way to drop it into the right window. SUGGESTION: Don't let the left window pop to the front when start dragging a file. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[frameworks-kio] [Bug 412664] New: Move a folder with subfolders: delete source folder as soon as all containing files are moved
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412664 Bug ID: 412664 Summary: Move a folder with subfolders: delete source folder as soon as all containing files are moved Product: frameworks-kio Version: 5.60.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: fa...@kde.org Reporter: codestr...@posteo.org CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Recently, I guided an occasional Plasma user when she wanted to sort out which of here files were already copied to an external USB drive and which ones were newer or missing. The following is one of the findings for potential improvement. We started a move operation of a folder structure from hard drive to USB drive. The process took a while. The following was cause for confusion: 1. On the destination, the folder structure was created first and then, one by one the folders were filled with the files. 2. On the source folder, a folder which was already empty, did not disappear at once. The whole folder structure remaines until the process is complete. The problem was: we _interrupted_ the move operation (deliberately, because of some panic). Which left us going through all the mostly empty folders looking which files were already moved and which not. SUGGESTION: 1. Create folders on the destination only then, when files will be copied into it. 2. Delete folder from the source as soon as all files are moved out. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412662 Bug ID: 412662 Summary: Overwrite dialog: Show if files are identical Product: frameworks-kio Version: 5.60.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Overwrite dialog Assignee: fa...@kde.org Reporter: codestr...@posteo.org CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 123051 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=123051=edit File Already Exists dialog Recently, I guided an occasional Plasma user when she wanted to sort out which of here files were already copied to an external USB drive and which ones were newer or missing. The following is one of the findings for potential improvement. Look at the attached screenshots. Both files (source and destination) are identical but this not obvious at first glance. IDEA: (at least for small files) calculate hash of the file content and display it clear to the user when those files are content-wise identical. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 412660] New: For symlinks: Add "Show Target" to context menu (and/or to Properties Dialog)

Thus, I tried to add them manually, and found this tutorial for KDE4: https://userbase.kde.org/Adding_an_entry_to_the_Create_New_menu/en Wish It would be helpful, if there was a relative obvious way of adding a new file as template for the "Create New" menu. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This is very useful to find out where space is wasted. It would be convenient and to also have this menu in the Properties dialog. On the General tab there is the Size part.
