I can confirm this problem.
The same server works fine with other clients (e.g. Thunderbird).
I had the same suspicion as Jörg that the problem might be related to the
double encoded backslashes.

BTW, I believe that this bug is a new regression in Plasma 5.14.1, as I was
playing with Compositor settings in 5.13.x and 5.14.0 and never noticed this
behavior.
