Okay, the Live CD for Ubuntu 14.04 ran fine. However, after it rebooted
it instantly hung as soon as it showed the Ubuntu desktop (with no icons
on the panel) into my account (I had it set to autologin). Booting into
recovery mode has it instantly start spitting text with a red

dmesg errors, it doesn't detect the Ethernet cable or does DHCP client
work. So, the evidence suggests this isn't entirely fixed upstream yet.

Jockey's log confirms that the program simply triggers the problem when
unbinding and then rebinding the driver (hence the driver_bind() call in
the backtrace), which in turn calls driver_probe_device(), etc. up to
local_pci_probe() which is what fails.
To sum it up, it's not a bug in Jockey. The
I tried installing 14.04 via netboot but could not run the Detect
Disks step so i was not able to create a root partition. The Detect
Network Configuration step also tried to load yenta_socket but i was
able to skip it and still had a working network connection.
I resorted to installing 14.04

the bug in version 53 (generic-pae) and then in 54. Was it fixed in 55
and recreated in 56? @oibaf reported the bug in 3.2.0-55-powerpc-smp.
