Seems AMD_PINCTRL has been excluded from official sources; I've built 2
new kernel versions today and both of them had AMD_PINCTRL disabled,
even though I applied all the patches from kernel.ubuntu.org.
Could someone please check if the newest stuff works without compiling a
custom ker

it's the official ubuntu repos, not the custom kernel ppa?
I've managed to compile and install 4.11-rc5 without too many issues, but an

I had a kernel upgrade 4.8.0-46 to 4.8.0.49 and I had the same issue.

After further testing I can report that the parent issue has indeed been
resolved upstream. The subsequent lockups are related to the nvidia

After logging in to the gnome login screen, the system freezes. Trying to
login using the shell (Ctr+Alt+F1) also freezes the system. The following
