It means Grub doesn't recognize it at all and I thus can't select it. Actually, Grub still shows it as Mint 17.2 (even though it has been upgraded to 18.1). Also, every time I reboot the update manager still shows the newer kernels as a level 5 update to be installed, so my guess is it never gets
