My system will not run ubuntu or xubuntu 18.04, thus I can not collect
log files.
New information:
I have downloaded 8 versions of 18.04 from several different mirror sites. I
have not directly confirmed the checksum on any of these downloads. I have
burned 10 DVDs with 2 different burners all
Adding the kernel parameter "resume=UUID=" in
the /etc/default/grub file, solved the issue.
Hibernate / Resume from Hibernate does work as expected now.
Just wondering why this worked without the named parameter in Ubuntu
16.10, 17.04. 17.10...

I confirm that this is fixed on my laptop in mainline kernel 4.16.9 (not

ppa/mainline/v4.16.9/ . These days there are 4 debs to install.
