too as a private laptop and it has a qualcomm that should not be affected by
this bug. Can you please post which chipset is has? Maybe Dell released one

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. After upgrading from linux 5.4.0-51 to 5.4.0-52
today, the computer boots into initramfs (Busybox) every time I reboot.
No disk errors found there. If I use the grub menu to switch back to
5.4.0-51, the system boots and runs normally.

I am not certain the kernel is the cause, I just noticed the bug
manifested when I updated. I will upload apport logs. I don't actually
believe it is a kernel bug, because PA works properly on the login
screen and only fails after login.

Tested Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel 5.4.0-52-generic) with the old HP Pavilion
dv6 laptop and the bug seems to still exist.
Disabling the Plymouth boot screen fixes this bug (changing
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT from "quiet splash" to "quiet" in
/etc/default/grub).
Also closing and opening the laptop lid

update, HFP/HSP is working on my dell xps 13 9380.
It stopped working since 20.04, it wasn't working with all previous
kernel/linux-firmware versions in 20.10. Today it's finally back.
