Sigh ... it seems that the issue remains even when booting up using the previous kernel version. Problem is that if I approach Asus about this, then they will simply reply with "sorry, we don't support linux, ...Asus recommends Windows 8". :-( Like hell I'll use Windows 8! I updated the BIOS in a
