The upgrade was via the GUI update interface. (sudo apt update/upgrade) not
actually the command line
The GUI update appears daily to show the pending updates
I have done and update since then and the Oracle kernel update is not in
the update list, I assume that it has been pulled, or it no longer
Also could you confirm that as things stand that an upgrade is not
trying to resinstall linux-oracle for you?

Title:
kernel update
To understand the minutia here could we get the /var/log/dpkg.log*
/var/log/apt/term.log* and /var/log/apt/history.log* sections for the
period when this update was applied. This should show us what happened
any this was triggered. Also could you indicate the type of upgrade in
play and how it
It was automatically installed along with the new Nvidia drivers over the
weeked.
