Public bug reported:
The nvidia-settings package has a significant problem with the copyright file.
It is either significantly out of date or plain wrong, neglecting a variety of
files that have different licenses from the main binary. This is most

I was too fast to post previous message after some 10 minutes of
testing. However a recent driver upgrade from 3.13.0-45-generic to
3.13.0-46-generic (with the same firmware) has apparently solved this
issue for me. At least, dmesg does not contain such errors after an hour
of heavy network usage

chris pollock, based on your previously provided information, it is not
clear to me how this is a cups issue, when you said you used a prior
kernel and the issue didn't happen.
As well, this report is not considered Invalid, as you have an active
issue in Ubuntu we are working through.
Hence,
You may need to run the following from a terminal:
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
Then re-install the package.
If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as Confirmed
