I too encountered many problems with Ubuntu on my ASUS UX501VW,
During installation, it got stuck in the Ubuntu splash screen maybe 4 times,
each time I had to manually shut down using the power button. This issue was
solved by using a USB 3.0 (I used a USB 2 pen drive before).

When I tried back in June, the newer mainline kernels didn't work. When
I tried going back in time, I couldn't find an Ubuntu kernel that was
old enough to not have broken sound but new enough to still boot in

Issue is in 4.7.0 too.
Wifi *may* stay working for fairly long periods (2-3 hours) in some
lucky instances.
Tests performed:
1. unload/load brcmfmac module.
Result : Interface is stuck in "Link is not ready"
2. suspend system and resume.
Result : Interface is stuck in "Link is not ready"
This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem.

Hello
I had performance relate disuses on fresh install of Linux Mint 18,
especially my computers were getting stuck during shut down. Few forums
suggested that upgrade to kernel 4.7 fixes some of the issues so I
though to give it a try.
Firs of all I tried to update my lapt
missing asus support to linux, maybe it always will..
by the time I'm using bluetooth speakers.
