[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1589756] Re: [Satellite L745, Conexant CX20585, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
When I tried back in June, the newer mainline kernels didn't work. When I tried going back in time, I couldn't find an Ubuntu kernel that was old enough to not have broken sound but new enough to still boot in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I'm thinking you'd want me to identify a kernel that works but it may take me a while to get around to installing Ubuntu 12.04 or 14.04 on this computer to try older kernels. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => New ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589756 Title: [Satellite L745, Conexant CX20585, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I don't have any audio output through the laptop's internal speakers but I get audio fine if I plug in external speakers. I can get audio working briefly by running sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1f SET_POWER_STATE 0 as suggested at http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1301.1/02917.html but it doesn't last very long before the audio turns off again. Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Hi, I run Ubuntu on an older Dell laptop with Broadcom bcm4312 WiFI. Basically, it doesn't work out of the box with Ubuntu, and it is extremely complicated to configure without access to the Internet (when a LAN connection is not available), which is a frequent problem when the WiFI isn't working. It requires these unfriendly instructions to get it working: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx Fedora 22, on the other hand, works out of the box on this same machine. So, if Fedora 22, with its paranoid insistence on only free software, is able to make this work out of the box, why can't Ubuntu? "Linux for human beings" is looking more like Fedora in this case. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1566302] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16
I'm having the same issue on an Asus X550LA - Haswell i5 with Intel HD graphics. I've tried using both 4.4 and 4.6, but this issue still persists. I've been able to get hibernate working via default instructions (pm-hibernate worked by default) but the computer just reboots after resuming from sleep. There are a few settings in the BIOS to look at - power consumption while asleep and resume when opening lid will be worth tinkering with, but I've tried many fixes and none seem to work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566302 Title: Ubuntu 16.04: Suspend freezes the system after upgrade to linux image 4.4.0-16 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: I'm using ubuntu 16.04 on a XPS 15 9550. Suspend/resume worked flawlessly with linux image 4.4.0-15, and after standard upgrade yesterday (5/04/2016) which installed image 4.4.0-16, the system freezes when attempting a suspend. Issue is in 4.7.0 too. Wifi *may* stay working for fairly long periods (2-3 hours) in some lucky instances. Tests performed: 1. unload/load brcmfmac module. Result : Interface is stuck in "Link is not ready" 2. suspend system and resume. Result : Interface is stuck in "Link is not ready" 3. unload brcmfmac module and suspend. After resume manually load the module again. Result : Interface is stuck in "Link is not ready" 4. Warm reboot of the system. Result : Interface is stuck in "Link is not ready" 5. Full shutdown and cold-boot. Result : Interface comes up as expected and works for some time. Have not been able to look into activating debug-output from brcmfmac (module debug-parameter) yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600624 Title: MacBook wifi doesn't work (brcmfmac) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: wifi doesn't work at all.
