You're right, it's not fixed. Whenever I restart Ubuntu it's a gamble as
sometimes the system beep works and sometimes it doesn't.
The 'beep' command always works, and when using virtual consoles (Ctrl+Alt+F1
to F6) the system beep always works, though the pitch seems higher.

I forgot to add that with another ubuntu system (different hardware) but
same os level I have no issue. Idem (no issue) with an Android and

Once a day my wifi disconnects and there is no way to reconnect to it
via network manager. The only solution is to reboot my PC. I have
changed my router in the last month but the problem still persists.
MY wifi cards is: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Networ
So I think I can now at least explain the weirdness. Booting from the
ISO as well as the first boot in OEM mode seem to be in a way where grub
does not use graphics mode and hands that off to a vt. In that case,
when the kernels starts there will be no VESA framebuffer which later

booting reliably visible.
