problem on GCP and never on AWS (it's baffling!). The kernels are as-

I had the same problem (or a problem like the one at hand).
In posts #12 through #15 the user commenting out a line in hist /etc/cryptsetup
file resolved the problem.
As I did not have that file I installed the cryptsetup{,-bin} packages and
rebooted: problem resolved!

Boot freezes with Gd
If I log out and log in as a different user I get blank screen with mouse
cursos visible and movable, but nothing else. If I log in as same user it works
or if I boot I can log in with any user.
18.04 normal set up. I did install and purge gnome-session (to test "vanilla
gnome").
As a fix I ins
I forgot this yesterday: I accidentally compiled git master HEAD of that
repo first. It worked fine, so something fixed this bug between v4.16.5
and 46dc111dfe47. If required I can try to bisect, but it will take a
while, my CPU is almost 10 years old (takes 1+ hour to compile the
kernel). I guess
I can confirm, using said screenshot, i turned off bluetooth in my bios,
and as top shows in the below screenshot the bug seems resolved, so the
bug is confirmed.
