With update-notifier and u-u not fixed they place /var/run/reboot-required asking for a reboot when it is not needed. [Test Case] 1. Perform a kernel upgrade normally via "apt-get dist-upgrade". 2. Reboot. 3. Run "apt-get autoremove" to delete the old kernel packages. 4. "System Notification Helper" now reports that the computer requires a reboot. The "autoremove" operation shouldn't require a reboot, logically speaking, because it's just removing files that are unused by the OS. [ Regression Potential ] If the check for skipping placing the /var/run/reboot-required file is too broad it may make kernel upgrades fail to ask for reboot. The fix changes a hook called by maintainer scripts and a failure in the hook can make kernel package installations fail. The fix is simple and was tested in several releases thus regressing in these ways is unlikely. I have the NUC connected via USB-C to a dual DisplayPort adapter, to an Avocent SV340D KVM. If I have the KVM on the switch for the NUC, everything works great. If I switch the KVM to another channel, and then switch back to the NUC, I only get black screens. The only solution is to hard reboot the NUC. Any help would be appreciated. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1809843] Re: sky2 ethernet card link not up after suspend
Thank you very much for the kernel Feng, and sorry for the late response. I tested it as instructed and it works! [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1761751] Re: Black screen on 18.04 + AMD RX460
Just as an update, in the Freedesktop issue, I found using a LOWER specced/older cable to fix the problem. I do not know how to debug it further but I suspect the bug is in the support of later version of the HDMI standard. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761751 Title: Black screen on 18.04 + AMD RX460 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in linux source package in Bionic: In Progress Bug description: I've been running 16.04 + hwe kernel 4.15 for a while now and recently I'm now having a black screen instead. I've also tried an 18.04 daily live USB stick, which has the same issue. It probably started during an upgrade this week or last week. As a start I'm blaming the Linux kernel since booting a 4.13 kernel works just fine. Known faulty kernel versions are: Â * linux-image-4.15.0-041500-generic (mainline kernel), Â * linux-image-4.16.0-041600-generic (mainline kernel), Â * linux-image-4.15.0-13-generic (Ubuntu kernel), Â * whatever comes with 18.04 daily live USB stick as of 20180404. Not sure how to best collect logs and system information for you since I'm not used to debugging black screens, so I'm just attaching lspci as a start. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1813372] Re: Realtek r8822be kernel module does not negotiate 802.11ac connection
I have been in touch with several members of the Realtek module development team. They have provided access to the code for a newer module, called rtw88, which is currently under review. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1799988] Re: Missing wifi and bluetooth after sleep on XPS 9370
I am also experiencing the same issue with on a Dell XPS 13 9370 that I upgraded to 18.04. I added mem_sleep_default=deep to my grub boot options to workaround the battery drainage when "suspended". Just like other people, I can't seem to figure out a pattern to reproduce the issue with 100% certainty. I checked and the BIOS is up to date, and my wifi firmware is WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00079-QCARMSWPZ-1. When the problem happens, the only way I can get wifi back is to reboot or shutdown + boot, sometimes it takes more than one reboot to get wifi back up. For some reason, a complete shutdown + boot appears to work better than a simple reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799988 Title: Missing wifi and bluetooth after sleep on XPS 9370 Status in Dell Sputnik: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: I have XPS9370 with self-installed Ubuntu 18.10 (not project sputnik) with Killer 1435 wireless module. And sometimes I find wifi and bluetooth missing after sleep. I cannot exactly define preconditions, but it seems there are following steps to reproduce the issue 1. Connect something via bluetooth (I use bluetooth headset) 2. Send laptop to sleep 3. Wake it and find wifi and bluetooth missing. I have to mention that I have also been experienced bluetooth only missing, but it somehow transformed to the issue with both wireless devices. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1763202] Re: Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen. HDMI not working for external monitor
I'm having same issue running kernel 4.18.0-15 on an X1 extreme using thunderbolt 3 dock gen 2 connected from dock to monitor via HDMI cable. Display settings detects monitor but monitor shows no signal. System is dual boot. Works on Windows, not on Ubuntu I am waiting to purchase a DisplayPort cable to see if that makes a difference but otherwise it doesn't work. Plugging HDMI directly into laptop (not dock) works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1763202 Title: Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen. HDMI not working for external monitor Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: I have an X1 Carbon 6th Gen. (Intel Core i7 8th Gen, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD). When I try to attach an external monitor via an HDMI cable the monitor receives no signal. Similarly, when I use the Thunderbold dock and attach two monitors (one via HDMI, one with DisplayPort) only the monitor attached with DisplayPort works; the monitor attached with HDMI stays black. This made me think if this is really a bug in the software. I saw people describing this issue with Windows installed; the solution was to hit a special key combination. Unfortunately, the multimedia keys all not all functional, specifically the F7 key, which seems to meant for "activate external monitor", has no function. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: peter 3510 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: peter 3510 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=8aee1825-7879-4889-8de3-e57900548385 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-04-06 (5 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Alpha amd64 (20180403) MachineType: LENOVO 20KHCTO1WW Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 EFI VGA 1 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.15.0-13-generic.efi.signed root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root ro quiet splash vt.handoff=1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-13.14-generic 4.15.10 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-4.15.0-13-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-4.15.0-13-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.173 Tags: bionic Uname: Linux 4.15.0-13-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip docker lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 02/27/2018 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: N23ET37W (1.12 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20KHCTO1WW dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0J40709 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: None dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrN23ET37W(1.12):bd02/27/2018:svnLENOVO:pn20KHCTO1WW:pvrThinkPadX1Carbon6th:rvnLENOVO:rn20KHCTO1WW:rvrSDK0J40709WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNone: dmi.product.family: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th dmi.product.name: 20KHCTO1WW dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1763202/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1690085]
Created attachment 281445 Testcase in docker I have created a docker file and run script, that allows me to reproduce the issue. It still takes quite a lot of time usually. This docker freezes the system in 30 minutes - 5-6 hours. I've been able to reproduce it with docker in Windows 10, xubuntu 18.04, xubuntu 18.10, opensuse tumbleweed and centos 7. I know, that docker can have bugs too, and reproducing in docker is not exactly reproducing natively, but since these freezes also happen on 4 of my machines in native 18.04 and in VirtualBoxed 18.04 too, it's possible that the bug is not in the docker or VirtualBox. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690085 Title: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks Status in Linux: Confirmed Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, We aregetting various kernel crash on a pretty new config.
