I have reproduced with @amalmostafa's updated script with a separate
disk too. I see no segfault and no EXT4 errors but the regression in
performance is still present but not as great as in my previous tests.

Title:
Could not probe Samsung P44
I can confirm aswell that on Linux Mint 21.2 Mate my kernel 5.15.0-88 is
causing audio popping and my solution was also to rollback to my
previous kernel! I can also confirm that as of 11-21-2023 that it is
also happening with kernel 5.15.0-89. I am using an Aspire 3 with an
i3-11.
