Currently I am not able to run apport-collect 1217966 tool because i
run Ubuntu with older kernel version (3.8.0-27) in order to get it to
work. As soon as the new kernel will be available in updates I will test

Disks tool shows the USB 3.0 flash drive speed. Here it is connected via USB
2.0.
It reach the max USB 2.0 read speed but the write speed is always low.
I do not have USB 3.0 here but the result is the same on laptop Asus X55U
connected directly via USB 3.0.

I guess there is no need to install 13.04 or 12.04 with kernel from
13.10. The disk tool shows low write speed in all of them for Kingston
DT Ultimate G3 (32GB). But I can do that if you want...
I can test the cache in Kingston DT Ultimate G3 (32GB), hope this not
destroy the disk, its new one.

Well... I made update (about 180 MB) and my laptop (Asus X55U with UEFI)
crashed. During update I saw in details window killed and everything
hung. After that laptop went into text mode and showed kernel panic.
Moreover after power restart Ubuntu 13.10 (x86_64) loaded OK but

No prior kernel version boots. Yes, I can mount disks via LiveCD.
I tested the lates kernel from here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v4.6-yakkety. It don't solve my problem. I attached new
photo with the stacktrace from that kernel.

After multiple update-initramfs and kernel reinstalls instead of message
'fstype not found' I have 'can't open /dev/mapper/ubuntu-root no such

Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubu
It turns out that the installation without nvidia drivers and the secureboot
option also causes errors. After some time using the laptop, the screen freezes

While checking wmi event codes I discovered that after pm-suspend and
resume wmi events are no longer sent. All wmi buttons stopped working
(except for volume buttons).
Reloading dell-laptop fixed it. However, that is unrelated issue, I
believe. I will try without Michał's patch to see if that's

I own Dell Inspiron M5110 (Q15R). This laptop has no keyboard backlight, but
dell-laptop claims otherwise.
My syslog was getting spammed with Keyboard brightness level control not
supported as dell-laptop was trying to get/set backlight values.

I'm also affected by this bug on Dell Inspiron M5110 (Q15R). This laptop
has the same set of special buttons as Vostro V131.
Mentioned ECG1 method was also returning values 0x2000 and 0x1000 for
me, but after applying the dell-laptop patch given by Michał Kępień (
@Henry, No, I haven't. I don't have the Dell Inspiron M5110 laptop
anymore and I can't reproduce this error. You can feel free to open the
upstream bug report.
