I have an Asus Q501LA laptop, and I've tried almost every custom kernel
posted in the comments here. Not one has allowed my touchpad to work.
Interestingly, all of the customer kernels seem to get rid of the odd
behavior where the cursor keeps spontaneously jumping to the left a
centimeter every
Peter, would you consider re-formatting your disk with recent btrfs-
tools, and using a 3.18+ Linux kernel? I think it's fair to assume that
or try if the problem would be resolved. And that would help you move
forward as well.
Consider how unstable older versions are warned to be:

but exist one solution:
1) Connect your phone with ubuntu via bluetooth.
2) Go to directory on phone. For example: photos, if you want copy some of your
importatnt photos.
3) Select only one file! And choose send by email (right mouse contect menu
send). Do not
It also works much quicker when you send file by file to shared folder
and disks. For example flash card.

This bug is spoiling the use of my HP dv6 with Ubuntu for about three
years. The HP has a tendency to get noisy and hot so being unable to
suspend only makes it worse. I didn't have the problem when I had
Windows. The hours I have wasted trying all the suggestions online.
Suspend seems to happen
Problem was solved over here by installing vlan_1.9-3ubuntu10, which got
removed by the upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04.

Hi John, this problem went away without me doing anything deliberate to
fix it. As far as I'm concerned, this bug can be allowed to expire.

no problems using Ubuntu 12.04.3
LTS or Linux
Mint 16 with the latest kernels.
I have great reservations about flashing the BIOSif it left me with
an unworkable
mobo, I would be royally screwed !! In other words, if it ain't
broke-don't fix it.

Sorry about #32, a changed keyboard made pressing tab, space easy.
Reproduced, though I'm not really surprised. There seems to be a bug in
the kernel or hardware but I'm not familiar enough with usb to debugging
it and couldn't find good information about usb tracedata.

I ran lsusb as root. When I ran it within a few seconds of plugging in
the device it wasn't included, 10 seconds was enough.

It occured in precise with Ubuntu and mainline kernel (from initial
report). IIRC it happened in Lucid too but at the time Lucid was already
old so I didn't report it.

I apologize, but I no longer have access to this hardware. It appears
both @vanvugt and @jaraco can reproduce, though; maybe one of you could
help with the testing, here?
