[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1721987] Re: No sound from right audio channel

2019-06-15 Thread Sid
Still, the issue with the right speakers persist. I am not proficient in
running or compiling scripts or programs in Linux. I am currently
running Ubuntu 19.04. The strange thing I noticed is that the power
switch toggle [even a soft toggle without fully turning on/off] fixes
the right speaker immediately. However, whenever there is loud audio,
the right speaker turns off (i don't know if its some channel or stream
that turns off).

Title:
No sound from right audio channel

Status in Linux:
  Confirmed
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
No audio comes out of the right speaker on the laptop. When playing a
test video such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTvJoYnpeRQ the
right-channel audio is never heard (i.e., it does not get converted
into mono and played through the left speaker).

When plugging in headphones, audio is heard from both channels.

In Windows, both speakers work, so it is not a physical problem with
  the speakers.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 263140] Re: Hardy/Intrepid/Jaunty boot hangs with the message: "ACPI: EC: non-query interrupt received, switching to interrupt mode"

2017-07-14 Thread Sid Lori
Bug still present on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, running on an HP Elitebook 850
G2. Ubuntu is installed on an SSD, and I noticed that there were long
delays that the hard drive light wasn't active. A check of dmesg showed
two ~6 second delays in the boot process, both on the same problem:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1520343] Re: Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported

2015-12-19 Thread sid
Hi Dennis,

Thank you so very much. On my new Acer R5-471T-52EE, your solution fixed
the WiFI problem!!!

I have Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS, I upgraded kernel to "4.2.0-21-generic" and
then followed your solution exactly. The dmesg also showed me the
following messages

[1.682634] ath10k_pci :01:00.0: pci irq msi-x interrupts 8 irq_mode 0

Despite failure to find file "firmware-5.bin" I was able to get wifi properly
for the first time on my ubuntu.

Thank you again
-Sid

Title:
Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have recently installed Ubuntu 15.10 (64-bit) alongside Windows 10 on an
Acer Aspire VN7-792G-76ZH and discovered, that the Qualcomm wireless card
doesn't work in it or 16.04.
The card has the device id 168c:003e as many other cards, for example the
Qualcomm Atheros Killer
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1383184), but it has a
newer revision number (32) and the suggested fixes work only partially and the
wireless is unusable.

The computer has just been released this summer and is Intel Skylake
  -based.

I've tried the patch from bug 1383184, which has a fix for the card revision
20:
Make the directory /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/ and put in the patch
files:
  board.bin
  firmware-4.bin
  notice_ath10k_firmware-4.txt

ath10k_pci succeeds in loading the firmware, but it seems that the
  firmware is not working correctly:
