[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1909005] Re: Ubuntu does not resume (wake up) from suspend
Effects Macbook Intel too, several people reporting similar issues on Reddit etc. nouveau_modeset argument helps device being able to sleep (power light slowly cycling etc) but that time it doesn't wake up the screen. Using nvidia drivers is not a possibility since they aren't working on old hardware/nvidia chip. (it is a separate bug) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909005 Title: Ubuntu does not resume (wake up) from suspend Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Whenever Ubuntu gets into suspend state, I cannot wake it up. -Keystrokes start the fans but screen does not turn on and Ubuntu still seems to be suspended because in my teamviewer account the computer is still offline. -Power button clicks do not help -I always have to turn off computer by holding power button and then turn it on again. The only kernel that works is the following: "linux- image-5.0.0-1070-oem-osp1". But with this old kernel I run into different problems. I have the latest BIOS version from Dell (released 2020-11-27) and the latest updates in Ubuntu 20.04. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1848445] Re: Kernel needs a special workaround argument to boot
I have installed the recommended mainline kernel, removed all third party modules too. I changed the arguments as suggested. It doesn't boot, just a blank screen not even a cursor. ** Attachment added: "Boot arguments" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1848445/+attachment/5302335/+files/IMG_20191102_203948_DRO.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848445 Title: Kernel needs a special workaround argument to boot Status in Linux: Confirmed Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When booting my HP Pavilion 360 - 13-a200nt (ENERGY STAR), it stops with just a non-blinking white cursor on screen in the top left, and the Caps Lock doesn't respond when pressed. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1848445] Re: Kernel needs a special workaround argument to boot
Ilgaz: 1) Could you please provide from the the sticker of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description, or the result of a terminal command) the full computer model? For example, HP Pavilion 13-u100 x360 Convertible PC. Model 13-a200nt PN: L0B69EA#AB8 2) Could you please undo all WORKAROUNDs and non-default kernel parameters and provide logs of a bad boot following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelBoot ? Apologies since it is impossible. Just tried following the instructions on the referenced page. I just get a blank screen with no visible sign of anything happening. Caps lock led doesn't function either so I believe keyboard isn't functioning at all. However, here is the dmesg |grep ACPI output from the "acpi_osi=" argument booted kernel. Perhaps it can help? dmesg |grep ACPI [0.00] BIOS-e820: [mem 0x9cdbf000-0x9cfbefff] ACPI NVS [0.00] BIOS-e820: [mem 0x9cfbf000-0x9cffefff] ACPI data [0.00] efi: SMBIOS=0x9cb3 ESRT=0x9cb35718 ACPI 2.0=0x9cffe014 [0.016525] ACPI: Early table checksum verification disabled [0.016530] ACPI: RSDP 0x9CFFE014 24 (v02 HPQOEM) [0.016535] ACPI: XSDT 0x9CFFE120 C4 (v01 HPQOEM SLIC-MPC 0001 0113) [0.016544] ACPI: FACP 0x9CFEF000 00010C (v05 HPQOEM SLIC-MPC 0001 HP 0004) [0.016554] ACPI: DSDT 0x9CFDC000 00E8EE (v02 HPQOEM SLIC-MPC ACPI 0004) [0.016559] ACPI: FACS 0x9CFB9000 40 [0.016563] ACPI: UEFI 0x9CFFD000 000236 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016568] ACPI: UEFI 0x9CFFC000 42 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 HP 0004) [0.016573] ACPI: SSDT 0x9CFF5000 0069E4 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 1000 ACPI 0004) [0.016577] ACPI: MSDM 0x9CFF4000 55 (v03 HPQOEM SLIC-MPC 0001 HP 0004) [0.016582] ACPI: ASF! 0x9CFF3000 A5 (v32 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016587] ACPI: ASPT 0x9CFF2000 34 (v07 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016591] ACPI: BOOT 0x9CFF1000 28 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016596] ACPI: DBGP 0x9CFF 34 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016600] ACPI: HPET 0x9CFEE000 38 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016605] ACPI: LPIT 0x9CFED000 94 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 HP 0004) [0.016609] ACPI: APIC 0x9CFEC000 8C (v03 HPQOEM SLIC-MPC 0001 HP 0004) [0.016614] ACPI: MCFG 0x9CFEB000 3C (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016619] ACPI: SSDT 0x9CFDA000 00143D (v02 HPQOEM 2341 1000 ACPI 0004) [0.016623] ACPI: SSDT 0x9CFD9000 000539 (v02 HPQOEM 2341 3000 ACPI 0004) [0.016628] ACPI: SSDT 0x9CFD8000 000B74 (v02 HPQOEM 2341 3000 ACPI 0004) [0.016633] ACPI: SSDT 0x9CFD2000 005D09 (v02 HPQOEM 2341 3000 ACPI 0004) [0.016637] ACPI: DMAR 0x9CFD1000 B0 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016642] ACPI: FPDT 0x9CFD 44 (v01 HPQOEM SLIC-MPC 0002 HP 0004) [0.016646] ACPI: BGRT 0x9CFCF000 38 (v01 HPQOEM 2341 0001 HP 0004) [0.016660] ACPI: Local APIC address 0xfee0 [0.060982] ACPI: PM-Timer IO Port: 0x1808 [0.060985] ACPI: Local APIC address 0xfee0 [0.061009] ACPI: INT_SRC_OVR (bus 0 bus_irq 0 global_irq 2 dfl dfl) [0.061012] ACPI: INT_SRC_OVR (bus 0 bus_irq 9 global_irq 9 high level) [0.061014] ACPI: IRQ0 used by override. Caps lock "led" doesn't work indicating keyboard isn't working. Just a white cursor (non blinking) on screen, CPU doesn't seem to do anything since fan stops after a while. This is more likely a Linux "bug". Unless you pass acpi_osi= argument to Linux kernel, it won't boot, appear and behave frozen with a (non blinking) cursor on top left. There is no further information given to user further complicating things. Previously on 4.x kernels, system would boot using acpi=off argument creating more problems on this particular laptop model (HP Pavilion X360 13 inch).
