Also worth noting: It's random which one gets removed and which one gets
added on my system. This makes it harder to work around and was pretty

I think I may be having a related issue.
Lenovo P1 Gen 2

I am trying to connect 2 external monitors both connected via USB-C
All was well for the first 2 hours. Then I unplugged my laptop worked
off of battery for about an hour. Tried to plug back into the monitors
and thats when
Can confirm that this is affecting the Intel NUC8i5BEH on Ubuntu 20.04
with a Seagate Expansion Desktop 4TB USB 3 Enclosure attached.
To fix this, the NUC has an internal USB Dock controller which had to
have the quirk added in addition to the Seagate Drive.

I reinstalled thermald and tried with the 4.15 kernel and still got
intense throttling. I noticed that with either kernel the dmesg output
still dumps this:

I have a Dell Precision 5520. I just updated my bios and updated Ubuntu
to 18.10 from 18.04 and ran into hard CPU throttling. I uninstalled
thermald and everything is fine. Not sure if it would be better to
blacklist kidle_inject as suggested here instead though.

and updated to 17.10 from 17.04. Based on the kernels I have installed,
that was at 4.13.7-041307-generic, but I /may/ be wrong on that - I may

Workaround "intel_idle.max_cstate=1" didn't work completely for me. It
did reduce the frequency but the hang eventually returns with the same
symptoms.
