[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1093237] Re: [Dell Inspiron Inspiron 17R SE 7720] TouchPad detected as Generic Mouse

2013-08-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jason, well I did some digging and finally found the posting URL
http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg27046.html . Unfortunately,
you didn't follow the kernel.org format noted in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093237/comments/51
. This would be why both your mailinglist e-mail was seemingly ignored
(you didn't give them the information necessary to solve the problem, as
well as it's not in the kernel.org format). As well, it would be best
not to force people to dumpster dive downstream reports by suggesting
them to look there, especially when all the information is not there to
begin with. :(

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1093237] Re: [Dell Inspiron Inspiron 17R SE 7720] TouchPad detected as Generic Mouse

2013-08-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jason, as advised in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/kernel#KernelTeam.2BAC8-KernelTeamBugPolicies.Overview_on_Reporting_Bugs_Upstream
, upstream maintainers prefer you not to raise a bug report on
kernel.org but start with the mailing list, as many of the maintainers
don't even look at kernel.org bugzilla. Did you already e-mail the
appropriate one?
