[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1389006] Re: [Dell XPS 8700] USB mouse and keyboard unresponsive after last update
I know this is an old post but as one who also faced the same issue, the solution is simple. Upgrade to 14.04.4. The issue is caused by some kernel incompatibility with hardware on XPS 8700, kernel 3.18 and 3.19 seem to fix it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389006 Title: [Dell XPS 8700] USB mouse and keyboard unresponsive after last update Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on Dell XPS 8700 desktop. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1389006] Re: [Dell XPS 8700] USB mouse and keyboard unresponsive after last update
I have the same issue with a Dell Inspirion 3847. I have updated my BIOS today (version A07) and still have the issue. If I leave the devices plugged in at boot, the system will not respond to anything at the (Xubuntu / lightdm) login screen, not even Ctrl-Alt-Del or Ctrl-Alt-F1. The only way to start my system is to unplug mouse and keyboard before boot, wait for login screen, then plug in keyboard and mouse.
