In my test I saw following: UBUNTU 14.04 uses about 482MB memory UBUNTU 16.04 uses about 966MB memory So I reduced memory with following script, which removes software I don't need, and ended at about 660MB memory. Also boot- and login time get a little bit shorter. But I am not to happy,
