More problems, and nwo a new symptom. Before I typically would just turn
wifi off then back on and it would work but now there are times where I do
that several times and I still can't get out despite being connected.

I have this laptop and this is still an issue in an up to date
ringtail installation. If anything the bug has got worse the laptop
completely freezes with power adapter in and the old dkms work around
no longer works either.

I would recommend against following the instructions in #29. For me it
causes a kernel panic I had to fix by blacklisting the rtl8723be driver
in recovery mode, and the makefile also seemed to delete the existing
driver already in the kernel, so I ended up reinstalling the OS to fix

Another update. I had accidentally installed gnome-tweak-tool on my
unity install instead of unity-tweak-tool, which pulled in a bunch of
gnome-core stuff. After uninstalling the gnome stuff and reverting my
configs to default (i.e. removing everything I did in post #5) my
bluetooth headphones
@mark-edcc thanks for the update. I'll try that in the future if
necessary, but I really feel like the gnome nonsense caused all this.
When I tried the 16.04 beta, it was the gnome flavor, and I experienced
the same nonsense on arch linux with gnome. Never had this problem with
unity. Weird.

I suspect that the root cause differs because connection between xHCI and CRTC
seems remote and the 4.9.25-gentoo kernel involved in comment #33 failed to
resume even with i915.modeset=0.

Similar symptoms with "acpi device:0d: hash matches", only when on AC (not
when running off battery), occur on a 2016 Dell system when the xHCI (USB 3.0)
driver is not available. Perhaps the device remains on while on AC.

Thanks for the solution. I removed "nomodeset" from grub config and now
it detects external monitor.

Many thanks for the fixed kernel. I tried installing it with "sudo dpkg
-i --force-overwrite *" but it would not boot. I see multiple error

I did try it with the new upstream kernel, it did NOT solve the problem.
The problem also occurs on all kernels when suspending to RAM and
starting it again. The fan behaviour is the same as when the machine is
booting regularly: The speed is frozen to the actual hardware
