Ok I got this sorted out and turns out it was my fault. A few weeks ago, when I was struggling to boot Ubuntu at all, I blacklisted intel_lpss_pci. It turned out that a BIOS update fixed the boot issue but I completely forgot about the blacklisted module... No idea why things worked later on and
