Packaging Changes
In regard to packaging the KiCad binaries, not a lot has changed. You
should mostly be able to bump the package version,

The download/source page claims that 5.0.0 can not be compiled against
Boost 1.61 and later because of C++11. I think
I have now published the page, feel free to add PR's to make it better
or correct errornous info.
