As far as I can tell, Ubuntu and all derivatives, Fedora, openSUSE,
Debian (if I remember correctly), Arch and Manjaro already use OCC so
that the latest available KiCad 5.99 (and even 5.1) packages for the
latest available distro versions use OCC. Only gentoo KiCad 5.1 seems
to use OCE. Because

Should the default build flag be changed to be OCC instead of OCE?

I have disabled ngspice in cmake settings but in a recent commit by
Wayne #include , which in turn includes
ngspice/sharedspice.h, was added to schematic.cpp which makes
compilation fail apparently because I don't have ngspice at all.

refdes was changed back. Only later I realized that now there were two
footprints tied to the same symbol and normal updating PCB from schematic
changed the refdes back.

It's the symbol ID from the schematic. This defines the connection between
the symbol in the schematic file and the footprint in the layout file.
Indeed I have intended to ask about copying this in pcbnew. There's no way
to change (remove) it in pcbnew. Once a footprint is pasted or duplicated
forgotten from the roadmap?
I also think there haven't been an issue for that.

A good IDE should be able to open up auto and typedef in a tooltip. Clang
library helps here, for example Qt Creator uses it and shows the actual
type when I hover over auto.

I didn't live when 4.0.0 was released :) I can see
