Gentlemen,

Thank you for the quick response. It will be nice to get some
additional testing from users who don't want to brave nightly builds.

Cheers,

And the version string inside kicad is something like:

It is not ideal, but should be good enough.

Hi,

For Ubuntu I had added a ppa for dev versions (based on 5.0 branch):
https://launchpad.net/~js-reynaud/+archive/ubuntu/kicad-5-nightly

It should do the first build during next night...

Sometimes.

It's regular debug info like for Debug builds, except more extensive as
it needs to track values through registers while for Debug builds you
will only have to look at the stack. The main limitation here are values
that were optimized out because it's cheaper to create them on the spot.

For example, an indexed load gives you an addition for free, so pointers
constructed by adding a base and an index are usually not kept around in
registers. Values like these will show up as in variable
dumps.

There is usually a good chance to get at least a backtrace, but
parameter information is usually wonky because the parameter space on
the stack is reused.

Even if you could launch kicad from gdb and to a backtrace after the
segfault would be helpful. I have never had any luck interrupting an
running process using gdb on windows.

There is already direct import of Eagle (XML file format only) boards
and footprint libraries in Pcbnew. A tool to convert Eagle schematic
and component library file conversion would be helpful. Although this
would most likely be temporary. An I/O plugin for Eeschema is planned
for the next development cycle. This will allow someone to write a
plugin to directly import Eagle schematics and component libraries into
Eeschema. However, it would be nice to provide users with a way to
convert Eagle schematics and component library files until this happens.
