The Workers of EMCALI Continue Being Victims of the Orgy of Blood and the
Brutal Dirty War that Assails the Country

In the name of all our shocked and angry members, the Executive Committee
of SINTRAEMCALI rejects the vile assassination of comrade CARLOS ELIECER
PRADO, and we place the responsibility for this on the Colombian State as
the generator of the violence against the trade union movement and the
Cali community.

The death of comrade CARLOS ELIECER PRADO, a member of SINTRAEMCALI, once
again reminds us of the sacrifices that the defenders of EMCALI * are
condemned with, for our firm opposition to the policies of the Colombian
State and the IMF.

We, Colombian trade unionists, have been targeted by dark forces moving
inside the State itself. They seek to silence through assassination,
eviction or terror those who are against privatisation and those who
defend human rights.

It is strange that when there has been an energetic rejection of the
proposal to change EMCALI's name to SSPD, which was meant to be the final
blow to EMCALI as a state corporation, they have assassinated those
workers who raised their voice in protest to defend the common good
represented by EMCALI.

We ask for the solidarity of all our sister organisations, and that you
reject the orgy of blood that gives us such sorrow, including the
indifference of the National, Departmental and Municipal governments.

LUIS ANTONIO HERNANDEZ
Vice President

SINTRAEMCALI IS FOR THE DEFENCE OF EMCALI UP TO LIFE ITSELF
