TURKEY The Bush administration intends to sell two naval frigates to Turkey in an estimated $110 million deal.The Pentagon has notified Congress of plans to sell Turkey two Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates with associated equipment and services. TheDefense Security Cooperation Agency said the sale could reach $110 million. In Ankara, after a suspension that lasted about a year, France and Turkey have resumed their defense dialogue. Meanwhile, Israel seeks to resolve the technical difficulties that have emerged in its military projects for Turkey.The effort was launched during the current visit by Defense Ministry director-general Amos Yaron to Ankara. Yaron reviewed several Israeli military programs that were said to have been marred by technical difficulties. In other developments, Turkey has agreed to buy 14 U.S. helicopters in a $324 million deal. Officials said Ankara plans to finance the procurement of U.S. helicopters with a loan from Washington. Turkey will obtain the loan from the U.S. Export Import Bank for the Sea Hawk naval helicopters.
