I flew helicopters for the Army. ? When I retired I falsely believed that it would be ok if I didn't fly every day and I was very wrong. ?I didn't have a lot of fixed wing time, some F16's, Cub's, Sesna's etc but I knew I needed an airplane. As a school ?teacher with teanagers at home I

very cool Joe. how do you like the minimax? I just need something to knock around new england and meet up with my friends who always seem to be flying somewhere... realistically, the KR will take years to complete. I agree with the other post, and to be careful with time budget or one will

I almost bought (and still might) a Teenie 2 as a temporary ride while I build a KR. It's kind of cute, simple, and cheap. About the same size as a KR with about the same power, yet substantially slower. I think the sonex performs well, just looks terrible like a Pontiac Aztec (my opinion and

I purchased a flying Minimax for my temporary ride and I am glad that I did because I get to fly three to four times a week. What a great situation to be in to need to decide weather to fly or to work on my KR2 since both are good. ?I am building ?tailwheel time and experience, building

I'm weighing building a KR vs. a Sonex and would like to talk with current KR builders or pilots. The Sonex doesn't have the performance potential and frankly, it's a bit homely. But it does have superb plans and outstanding factory support. The KR on the other hand has (as I have read but not

> "The Sonex doesn't have the performance potential and frankly, it's a bit homely." Isn't that the truth. It "looks" like it makes a lot of aerodynamic sense but it's a turd compared to a KR. And I wouldn't put an AeroVee on a lawnmower. Mike KSEE

Mike, As I understand it, no one has been able to convince Jeanette Rand to allow them to reproduce the plans for sale (and a number of good people have tried), so all plans ultimately come from her, and inordinate delays have always been part of the picture - long before nvaero became involved.

I'll chime in and say that (as a former small business owner) there are two legitimate sides to the issue. Based on the recent posts about dealing with Ms. Rand, it seems like it would help if she werent reluctant to allow a reseller to stock plans if she still got the same revenue. I agree

I was asking for the reason for the delay, not trying to blame Steve. It's obviously Jeanette Rand's fault. Ken Rand died when the design of the KR was still evolving and the plans were little more than a first draft. It's tragic there was never anyone else at Rand-Robinson who was interested
