Mike, You will find it done both ways. Some guys laminate over the plywood with deckcloth (1.45 oz fabric) and resin. Some just finish the plywood. You'll hear opinions both ways and find planes finished both ways. I chose to simply prime and paint my plywood finish. After 18 years in

My Diehl nose wheel has developed a violent shimmy between 20 and 40 Kts. I managed to drip some oil from the engine onto the strut. The oil ran down and got into the swivel joint and lubricated the nylon washer. Now it does not have the proper friction. So, have to take the swivel joint
