KR> Building sequence

2015-06-18 Thread R. Lee Jarvis
It seems like most (all?) KR builders are beginning with the fuselage. Does the construction have to begin with the fuselage, or can you build wings & empennage first? Workshop space is limited, and it's easier to store flat pieces out of the way than it is to work around an assembled fuselage.

2015-06-17 Thread R. Lee Jarvis
I'm weighing building a KR vs. a Sonex and would like to talk with current KR builders or pilots. The Sonex doesn't have the performance potential and frankly, it's a bit homely. But it does have superb plans and outstanding factory support. The KR on the other hand has (as I have read but not

The specs for the McCauley 7447 on my Luscombe allow up to 1/4" tracking error, so you may be OK. Or you may want to have it overhauled. - Original Message - From: "Dan Heath" To: "'KRnet'" Sent: Saturday, November 26, 2011 6:21 PM Subject: KR>

I'd love to meet up with any of you who may be coming to Lakeland. I hope to begin building as soon as I finish my current project which is a complete restoration of a '46 Luscombe (do ever really finish?), and the KR is high on my short list. Please let me know if you're going to be at Sun 'n

KR> KR-2S in Florida?

2011-01-23 Thread R. Lee Jarvis
I'm still a year or more away from beginning on a project, and I'm considering a KR-2S. But I'd really like to try one on for size before I make a decision. A friend began building one 20 yrs ago +/- but got no further than building the boat when it became apparent to him the the aircraft was

KR> Engine question

2011-01-21 Thread R. Lee Jarvis
Yes, I have. Perhaps I'm oversimplifying it a bit because I have considerable experience in engine building. Still, with some experienced guidance, it's well within the capabilities of anyone who can build an airplane. Regards, Lee - Original Message - From: "Dan Heath"

Upgrading all the way up to 2180 is easily doable with your current engine by replacing cylinders and sometimes crankshaft - easy and not too expensive. - Original Message - From: "Russ Sing" To: "KRnet" Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2011

2010-06-07 Thread R. Lee Jarvis
I just caught the tail-end of a news story about an experimental aircraft that made a rough off-field landing somewhere in the Tampa area late this afternoon. I only got a brief look at the damaged airplane, but it certainly looks like a KR-2. Thankfully, the unnamed pilot was reported to have

Hi all, I'm mostly a lurker here. I'm currently restoring a '46 Luscombe and strongly considering a KR as the next project. I live in Lakeland, about 1.5 miles south of the center line of runway 9/27. I'd love to meet some of you, and talk about your KR experiences over a beer or two. There

I'm having a difficult time finding a KR2 or KR2S in the area to try on for size, so I'll just ask. I'm 6' and 195-200lbs. What's the liklihood that I'm going to be able to get in and close the canopy? I fly a Luscombe now (2 place with 36" wide cabin) so I'm used to close quarters, I'm more

I think that the biggest challenge is likely to be demonstrating a stall speed of less than 45kts (52mph). Then all that's left is to limit the max level speed at sea level to 120kts. Everything else is fine. It seems to me that this should all be entirely possible. Lee - Original Message
