KR> Snapped Longeron

2008-10-12 Thread Russ Kendall
Hi Nick, being about at the same stage you're at in my building I can imagine how you must feel. I'm not an engineer, but if this happens to me I would probably be prone to try and repair it. Ed is right, a picture would be helpful. I feel bad for your mishap. Russ - Original Message -

KR> Repair to a Longeron

2008-10-12 Thread Russ Kendall
Tough break Allen, I haven't bent mine yet. So, my heart goes out to you in this. If your'e going to swap ends, that means taking apart all your glued up joints, (that sounds horrible). The repair should be stronger than the original wood. I would probably just try and repair the break, and then

I'm at the same place you are Nick. I took it to leave off the last verticle before the long piece that goes to the top of the vertical stabilizer. I could be wrong; I'll read more about it this weekend. I finished the second side this last weekend, Yay! I'm tired of the gussets! Russ

Hi Everyone, I'm kicking around whether to glue the plywood on before or after forming the boat? The plans recommend before. I guess I'm afraid of breaking a longeron in the bending process. Russ http://home.bendbroadband.com/russkr2s

Hi Nick, I'm at the same place your at; and I've been scratching my head abit also. I've left the verticle at N out, and left myself about 8" extra on the length of the longerons, (since I'm extending the length aft 6"). I wanted a little extra to play with. I noted on Ricky Farleys webpage he

2008-10-12 Thread Russ Kendall
Hi everyone, I've searched the archives on the topic of roughing up/preping joints prior to glueing with T-88. I recieved some input that this practice was not recommended. I used resin bond sandpaper to roughen the joints. Any new feelings on this? I glued up a couple of test joints, and
